Resistance band workout for women over 50. Join me for full body warm up, workout & stretch at home.
Who’s ready for a workout? I’m Rae from Live Yourself Young and if you've seen any of my other videos then you will know my mission is to encourage other women in their 50s to start weight training. You can start at home using your own body weight, resistance bands and dumbbells and this workout is a progression from my full body bodyweight workout which I shared last week. All you need is a light resistance band, a chair, a wall and of course a drink of water. There are many different types and levels of resistance bands available and the resistance band I am using in this workout is linked below to give you an idea of what level of resistance I recommend you start with as a beginner.

I really loved this workout - thank you. I'm just returning to strength training, at 54, it's daunting on where to start. I find your beginner routines a perfect place to recommence a dedicated 30 mins in the morning, absolutely perfect.

I am looking for a workout suitable for me at nearly 63 and not very fit. This seemed doable except for overbending of the right knee which was injured and doesn't bend properly any more. Warm up , resistance and stretching... great combo in a reasonable length of time. Do we need a high chair or is a normal one OK? Is chair squatting enough? Thorough squatting is a killer for the knee. You certainly look in amazing shape. How much do you train per week?

Hello lovely lady, how long do you do the starter one with body weight? 2 weeks? Or once you find it easier? Sorry it's probably out there and I missed it!

I'm trying to figure out which video comes first. I'm actually older than my 50's but trying to get stronger. I've had back problems as long as I can remember. I've lost about half of my body weight in the past year and my back Dr sent me for physical therapy. It has helped, but I want to progress from there. If you can point me towards the beginning video, I'd appreciate it very much.

Great workout but really couldn’t do the bear crawl because my feet are kind of deformed by bunions and very stiff- could you suggest an alternative please or should I just keep trying?

Our feet are so integral to the rest of our body functioning properly I also recommend you Google "Doc Jen Fit Bunions" as she has some brilliant advice for feet. I hope that helps 💜

I loved the workout; however, after doing it for the first time I realize I have the wrong kind of band. Can you tell me exactly the band you are using? Mine is too small and doesn't have enough stretch. Thank you! (And so sorry if you've already answered this question!)

Madam, I would like to do these exercises but I don't know which length of band to buy or what type of band. I am 54 years old. Please kindly respond to this query. Thank you. Also should I wear shoes and do the workouts as I don't have shoes and I will have to buy them just for this workout sake, so can I wear slippers and do them?
Hello thanks for reaching out. Hi thanks for your question. OK then I would start with my body weight workout 2-3 times a week and then when you’re ready you can progress to this one. You should be able to find lots of useful information in my videos. Listen to your body, consistency and progression are key, rest days are important as is good sleep and nutrition.
