It is one of the main reasons I wanted one. Found a good deal on a well-equipped 2005 (has the same midgate, bed, and toolboxes) and have been happy with it since! Fun fact, if you just have a shorter, long item (8ft lumber, for example) you can just open the bottom portion, leaving the glass in place. This combined with the bed covers means it is still all sealed from the elements! I actually used this when waiting to pick up a friend at the airport, laid down in the bed while still having full access to the passenger compartment.

I absolutely love my 07 ltz! I took out the midgate to allow a passthrough for my subs. For having 174000 on it, it still runs and drives very very well. Was a sad day when I found out that gm discontinued the line. It's that vehicle that has just enough room to haul something if you need to, but is a cloud to ride in on road trips, classy enough for date night, versatile enough for a camping trip. 12 years old and it still gets looks and compliments in public!

Pick a Parts are the best racket ever. Out here in California Pick n Pull is part of a metal processing company that converts the cars back to raw steel/iron. They also pull alternators, starters and other parts for the core values before crushing. In the 90’s there were enough vintage cars coming in for them to have special sections for them. I’ve sometimes volunteered to help with an older car just to have an excuse to make a trip down there.

I talked to a manager at one here in Houston years ago, and you are correct. Back then they got $25 per cat, 10,000 filled a trailer, and they did several trailers a year at $250k per trailer. Cores were a few bucks each, plus the scrap. The parts they sold plus admission charges paid for most of the overhead, so they make a killing on it all.

The fuel issue is because the anti roll over valve in the bottom of the fuel filler neck is gacked up. The easy fix (might work) is to use the gas pump to work it loose by squeezing full blast, stopping, squeezing, stopping, and squeezing till the problem no longer persists. If that doesn't work, you may have better success taking the full hose off the tank and fingering it while it's still in the vehicle. If it's still sticky, add a pinch of fuel as a lubricant and keep going. If this fails and that valve is still sticky, then you may need a new tank rollover valve or whole new tank.

Not sure its the fuel filler hose. The wizard has a video about it. The evaporative canister on the vent tube gets clogged. My truck does the same thing. If you listen you can here fuel start to gargle as it backs up before it shuts off. I used to think its the hose, but have been thinking of replacing mine. When it does it a lot I just use the not fast setting on the pump. The middle or slow one.

I am curious about lowering the back seat to access the box from the cab, how far forward does the front seat need to be , I am 6'2" so the front seat on most vehicles is usually all the way back will that stopped the rear seats from being dropped all the way down? also i wonder if the rear window leaks or rattles over time

    • @dh66
      @dh66 Рік тому +1

Start driving north american vehicles. You can easily fit in the front of the Chevy trucks at 7' tall. The seats can also be back all the way and the rear seat folds down, basically crew cab space back there. Short fellers like you fit in the back just fine.

I saw that you put regular gas in it. Is the truck not E85 compatible? I have a 2005 and it is gas and E85, but it doesn't say it anywhere. I had to find out through the vin or the gas door should have a sticker. The vin number should have a Z in there somewhere to know. You can also check it online by entering the vin into an E85 checker online. I prefer E85. Not only does it keep my engine clean, but the drive and performance is so much better. I love my Avi. Thanks for the vid 😁

8:30 Couldn't you have depinned the old and new connector so you didn't have to cut the wires?

I know this may sound like a stupid question but would you know what all it would take to install a gooseneck ball in the bed of an Avalanche???

Oh ok. I've never driven or rode in an Avalanche before so I don't know very much about them.

When pumping gas don't use the first lock setting put it on the next one down and it won't shut off on you

Is it the charcoal canister, it the previous owner probably always added extra fuel once the pump would click the first time. Hence flooding the vapor only part

I have a 2011 Silverado and before that a Sierra and pumping gas is always a pain in the ass. The auto pump never stays on!

You were impressed by gravel road blasted fenders and quarters? I can top that. You get the same thing from 300k + miles of year round highway driving in the northeast in a full size ford van. If you run them around the clock they don't rust. Looks like sandblasted stripes that match the rain grooves in the tire. 😀

I never knew that back of the cab folded down like that, I always assumed the avalanche was a “truck” for someone who didn’t want an suv

Just bought a 2011 Avalanche with 107 thousand miles. Plan to keep it forever until the wheels fall off. When it needs a new engine will put a new engine and transmission. Hopefully not until many years!

I know its within spec but that isnt the best oil pressure. My lm7 with 142k has 40psi at idle when warm and 60psi at 2k rpm
