    I absolutely love my 07 ltz! I took out the midgate to allow a passthrough for my subs. For having 174000 on it, it still runs and drives very very well. Was a sad day when I found out that gm discontinued the line. It's that vehicle that has just enough room to haul something if you need to, but is a cloud to ride in on road trips, classy enough for date night, versatile enough for a camping trip. 12 years old and it still gets looks and compliments in public!

      It is one of the main reasons I wanted one. Found a good deal on a well-equipped 2005 (has the same midgate, bed, and toolboxes) and have been happy with it since! Fun fact, if you just have a shorter, long item (8ft lumber, for example) you can just open the bottom portion, leaving the glass in place. This combined with the bed covers means it is still all sealed from the elements! I actually used this when waiting to pick up a friend at the airport, laid down in the bed while still having full access to the passenger compartment.

    Pick a Parts are the best racket ever. Out here in California Pick n Pull is part of a metal processing company that converts the cars back to raw steel/iron. They also pull alternators, starters and other parts for the core values before crushing. In the 90’s there were enough vintage cars coming in for them to have special sections for them. I’ve sometimes volunteered to help with an older car just to have an excuse to make a trip down there.

    I talked to a manager at one here in Houston years ago, and you are correct. Back then they got $25 per cat, 10,000 filled a trailer, and they did several trailers a year at $250k per trailer. Cores were a few bucks each, plus the scrap. The parts they sold plus admission charges paid for most of the overhead, so they make a killing on it all.

    The fuel issue is because the anti roll over valve in the bottom of the fuel filler neck is gacked up. The easy fix (might work) is to use the gas pump to work it loose by squeezing full blast, stopping, squeezing, stopping, and squeezing till the problem no longer persists. If that doesn't work, you may have better success taking the full hose off the tank and fingering it while it's still in the vehicle. If it's still sticky, add a pinch of fuel as a lubricant and keep going. If this fails and that valve is still sticky, then you may need a new tank rollover valve or whole new tank.

  • @DaddytechEnt
    @DaddytechEnt 3 роки тому +1

    *Same thing as my 06 Cadillac EXT. if the hose kept cutting off while trying to fill it that's because the evap canister needs to be replaced. common problem with all of those trucks. I figured you would have used your Milwaukee cordless solder gun on that repair, I bought that because you had one, i wasn't even aware there was such a thing until i saw yours in fact, those sensors are usually $50.00 or more each*

      My 2004 was doing it had to fill up 3 cents at a time, its the vapor canister that comes apart and all the charcoal pellets get in the ven lines, you have to drop the tank and clean all the hoses, and replace the vapor canister.

      @@michaelguevara8015 I replaced my canister and blew out lines but still does it. I have another one I'll put on one day but for now I just deal with it.

    I worked for a competitor of LKQ doing IT until I lost the popularity award and met the chopping block. I won't name drop, but we had an entire facility that processed catalytic converters. The stores were free money, but the cats were quite profitable . They also made a lot of money from the fuel they drained from gas tanks of the vehicles.

    You can haul a full size piece of plywood in the bed with the mid deck down, and the tailgate up. Also the bed covers keep everything dry. And you Don't have to take the glass out either. Not only Silverado headlight fit. Also Surburban and Tahoe headlights. They are all the same. Avalanche is based on the Suburban. Same running gear, engine, etc. Can't tell the diff meeting one on the road. You are a great Mechanic, but don't get ahead of yourself. Never EVER get ahead of yourself. You can always learn... Never forget that. I was taught that by a Mechanic that lives across the street from me. He worked for Chevrolet/GM for years. Yes, he is completely trained. He just retired from active work. Had his own shop. He would do work on vehicles, and only charge a small amount over the parts cost. James Gilliland. Bibb County Alabama. Formerly of Cecil Crews Chevrolet of Centreville, Al. Contact him. He has a LOT of little bits of info that can help you to become the next Scotty Kilmer. Well, the best on the internet, anyway... like adding miracle oil to your motor oil to make it stop using oil... not sure how much, or for how long...but it works! Stay healthy, and stay happy! You are a great mechanic, and you deserve to be the best in the land! Learn ALL that you can! Pass it on! That is the mark of being the best! Yes I own an Avalanche. An '09 LT, loaded. All tthe bells and whistles. It has a 5.3L, or a 327 CI engine. No problems except for having over 3K worth of lifter work done, and an oil pressure sensor problem. Otherwise, it drives and runs like a Cadillac! Love it!

    Your fuel fill issue is that evap code you ignored. Swap out the evap canister for literally any other GM evap canister. Problem solved. You might need an accessory pigtail, but they're seventeen cents.

    Not sure its the fuel filler hose. The wizard has a video about it. The evaporative canister on the vent tube gets clogged. My truck does the same thing. If you listen you can here fuel start to gargle as it backs up before it shuts off. I used to think its the hose, but have been thinking of replacing mine. When it does it a lot I just use the not fast setting on the pump. The middle or slow one.

    You were impressed by gravel road blasted fenders and quarters? I can top that. You get the same thing from 300k + miles of year round highway driving in the northeast in a full size ford van. If you run them around the clock they don't rust. Looks like sandblasted stripes that match the rain grooves in the tire. 😀

    The fuel thing may be the charcoal canister being plugged

      You hit it on the money, it has been over filled so many times the canister is full of fuel. Simple to fix remove turn up side down and run the truck for a few hours.
