@@dillonh321 That's awesome. I think a lot of modern cars have party tricks will go completely unnoticed by second and third owners. I to never knew about that rear window system on the Avalanche.
It is one of the main reasons I wanted one. Found a good deal on a well-equipped 2005 (has the same midgate, bed, and toolboxes) and have been happy with it since! Fun fact, if you just have a shorter, long item (8ft lumber, for example) you can just open the bottom portion, leaving the glass in place. This combined with the bed covers means it is still all sealed from the elements! I actually used this when waiting to pick up a friend at the airport, laid down in the bed while still having full access to the passenger compartment.
I absolutely love my 07 ltz! I took out the midgate to allow a passthrough for my subs. For having 174000 on it, it still runs and drives very very well. Was a sad day when I found out that gm discontinued the line. It's that vehicle that has just enough room to haul something if you need to, but is a cloud to ride in on road trips, classy enough for date night, versatile enough for a camping trip. 12 years old and it still gets looks and compliments in public!
other then what i mentioned on the other video, I Love my 2008 Z71!!! i bought mine used and it was missing the 3 piece factory bed cover but over the several years ive owned her i was given them all :)
Pick a Parts are the best racket ever. Out here in California Pick n Pull is part of a metal processing company that converts the cars back to raw steel/iron. They also pull alternators, starters and other parts for the core values before crushing. In the 90’s there were enough vintage cars coming in for them to have special sections for them. I’ve sometimes volunteered to help with an older car just to have an excuse to make a trip down there.
I spent 36 yrs in South bend Indiana and I use to go to the LKQ on Indiana St. My favorite was Veldmans and Wellers. I now live in Asheville NC and if you want a LKQ, it's about 45 miles south of me.

*Same thing as my 06 Cadillac EXT. if the hose kept cutting off while trying to fill it that's because the evap canister needs to be replaced. common problem with all of those trucks. I figured you would have used your Milwaukee cordless solder gun on that repair, I bought that because you had one, i wasn't even aware there was such a thing until i saw yours in fact, those sensors are usually $50.00 or more each*
I talked to a manager at one here in Houston years ago, and you are correct. Back then they got $25 per cat, 10,000 filled a trailer, and they did several trailers a year at $250k per trailer. Cores were a few bucks each, plus the scrap. The parts they sold plus admission charges paid for most of the overhead, so they make a killing on it all.

( its chepar than me getting new caddy ones) I wanted t o update the console in it to a newer version. The dash all that stereo. WOuld like to change the color of everything with te updated consoles.

Love getting parts from our local Pick-N-Save. It always feels like a score. 😀 I needed a new mirror for our 2003 Outback Sedan. The self dimming was shot. Bought a new “manual” rear view for $4.00. 😎 Good work on the Avalanche!!
I am sure you already figured it out, but the filling it with gas problem was probably the charcoal canister for the evap system. My 05 avalanche did that last year.
The problem with fueling cutting out is with emission control device mounted mid Chassis up behind the spare tire. Sometimes you get codes P0449, P0455, P0446.
The fuel issue is because the anti roll over valve in the bottom of the fuel filler neck is gacked up. The easy fix (might work) is to use the gas pump to work it loose by squeezing full blast, stopping, squeezing, stopping, and squeezing till the problem no longer persists. If that doesn't work, you may have better success taking the full hose off the tank and fingering it while it's still in the vehicle. If it's still sticky, add a pinch of fuel as a lubricant and keep going. If this fails and that valve is still sticky, then you may need a new tank rollover valve or whole new tank.
Great videos JRgo - thanks for all of your efforts. Truly love the channel. I have learned a ton watching. Carry on, great job. I am a daily addict on your vids, look forward to them.
The fuel fill problem is with the angle. I have an 04 and have to hold the fuel nozzle sideways unless you go to a station where the fuel goes very slowly lol
Hey JR, if that cab extension is some what flexible plastic, try a heat gun and burn off the oxidation. While doing that process, it would heat up the polymer. I found that it only works on certain plastics. Mounding etc. it worked great, but side mirror plastics was a no go.
The pump cuts off because the charcoal canister is clogged and the evap solenoid also is bad or going bad do to fuel clogged inside it too. My 2008 Avalanche had the same issue so I changed both now no issues. Fuel pumps great now….😊😊😊
I have the Cadillac and the setup is the same. Not sure its the fuel filler hose. The wizard has a video about it. The evaporative canister on the vent tube gets clogged. My truck does the same thing. If you listen you can here fuel start to gargle as it backs up before it shuts off. I used to think its the hose, but have been thinking of replacing mine. When it does it a lot I just use the not fast setting on the pump. The middle or slow one.

Every Avalanche owner has experienced the same problem with the gas pump shutting off. Personally I think it’s a Chevy design flaw caused by where they placed the screen to prevent you from siphoning gas.
The pump goes off either because the evap is junked or clogged. Or in my cars case QTs pumps are a combination of too long and powerful, that i have to let about an inch of the nozzle hang out for it not to shut off the pump

Start driving north american vehicles. You can easily fit in the front of the Chevy trucks at 7' tall. The seats can also be back all the way and the rear seat folds down, basically crew cab space back there. Short fellers like you fit in the back just fine.
