When I finally got leave my mom came and picked me up to take me home. Everyone in my family was always so worried about me, but my mom told me "I never worried for a second, your a toughy, you'll pull through anything wants you get going". On the ride she played this song, first time I heard it. When ever I hear it now I think of her. She's in the hospital right now, I can't see her, but listening to this reminds me that she's tough to, shell get through this fine and I'm going to learn to play this. it will be the first song she hears, so she knows I had no doubts.

"One More Day" was the song for me...going through a very rough stretch--Wood Brother's music touched my soul--got me through and reminded me--just gotta give it "One More Day" Sing About It..and I don't have to hold Atlas' world up :) ~ Karen Palmer

This song was written by the Wood Brothers about seminal Southern musician originally from Southeast Gulf Coast Texas to Memphis by way of Macon and to Atlanta. He released hit tunes in Texas in 1962-1964 and formed Eric Quincy Tate while in the navy and organizing from Corpus Christi to release an album in 1970 produced by Jerry Wexler Tom Dowd and Tony Joe White. Then in 1972 on Capricorn Records named Drinking Man's Friend produced by Paul Hornsby. Then EQT in 1975 on GRC Records produced by the Lowery Music Group and Sonny Limbo. Then Can't Keena Good Band Down in 1977, an 8 song EP on SLI Records. Later several reunion and anniversaries were released. EQT produced a video in 1973 , Pabst Blue Ribbon Beer, a 4 song live TV show, videos and DVD of reunion concerts plus a never released video history to be named The Missing Link of Southern Blues Rock of the 70s. EQT and Donnie were always unfortunately ahead of the wave in time of popular music, always successfully followed even copied.

Strange, I was about to leave a comment about how this song found me at the right time. Then I saw most of the comments are of the same sentiment. This song came to me at the exact right time in my life. It speaks to me and reminds me to stay true to my course and calling. It's absolutely invaluable to me.

It is so good to hear honest music instead, of all of the contrived, pretentious crap that is force fed to the public by the record companies. These guys play from the heart and gut of music. I was a side man for the blues legend, Yank Rachell for 25 years, until his death and he was the soul of heart and guts in music--he would be proud of these fellows. Keep-on-keeping-on. Great song!

I failed to mention the name of Donnie McCormick's the song writer, demon drummer, banshee wailing lead singer, and the leader and band conductor of the seminal act signed by Tony Joe White and Phil Walden in the summer of 1969 right after the Duane Allman contract, the formation of the Allman Brothers Band, the contract with Otis Redding's Band who did a fabulous early album released in 69 or 70, the signing of Hornsby, Chuck Leavell, Sandler and the Cowboy band. About same time as Livingston and Alex Taylor. Phil thought he would get both Kate and James Taylor but lost out to Columbia and Apple Records.

Donnie McCormick, leader of the Eric Quincy Tate Group originally from Kingsville Texas then Memphis and then Atlanta to be closer to the Capricorn Records organization which managed them from 1969 to 1974. Big every honky tonk from Texas to the Hudson River Valley but no national hit recordings but quite a number of regional. In 1975 achieved #44 but their recording company went belly uo.

    Hi Gary,
For whatever it is worth--Yank Rachell, composed the opening tune for the original Blues Bros movie. The song was entitled: "She Caught The Katy." He also performed with Sleepy John Estes and Sonny Boy Williamson. I thought that you would like to know--be well.

The man was the leader and drummer of Eric Quincy Tate, a white act signed by Phil Walden before the formation of Capricorn but after signing Duane Allman to firm a band and what ended being Cowboy, Sundown released on Ampex Records, Martin Mull, Alex and Livingston Taylor, and an excellent black outfit who originally hired Otis Redding and signed with the second Capricorn Records and I simply forget his name but the 1st Capricorn/Atco Records released album was Son Ton, White Witch, Captain Beyond, and Jonathan Edwards. An excellent west coast jazz trumpeter also signed to the original label named Eddie Henderson.

@@thmer9 the lyrics have not been "stolen" they are about Donnie "Mac" McCormick originally from close to Brownsville Texas playing the State and Louisiana as the leader of The Kings beinning as a garage band in 1958, who first recorded in 1962 and joined the US Navy from 164 to 1965 along with 3 other Kings serving on the USS Essex an aircraft carrier in the Mediterranean and up the Atlantic Coast to Norway regularly playing from Greece and Crete to Malta and Sicily and the Mediterranean Coast of both France and Spain then around Gibraltar playing every weekend developing the Eric Quincy Tate Sound. Upon their release they bought a nite club in Corpus Christi Texas. They were discovered by Tony Joe White who talked them into two things, one, t hire better keyboardist and bassist, two, go to Macon Georgia (where is that?) to cut demos and meet his manager Phil Walden formerly Otis Redding's manager along with Sam and Dave, Booker T and the MGs, and other r and b, blues, and soul artists. But EQT was signed before Walden had Capricorn Records and their first album came out in January of 1970 on Atlantic Records and was produced by Jerry Wexler. Their second album was released in March of 1972 and they unfortunately were lost in the huge amount of bands on Capricorn. They received their release torecord elsewhere in 1974 and released their third album in 1975 with two singles and the album charting in 1975 but GRC Records went bankrupt. Even because the story lasts longer that is all that you get from me. All songs come from a mixture of plantation blues, white men singing black songs.. Donnie McCormick became a legendary singer and drummer and also playing a wooden chicken coop. Like the lyrics say he sang like a choir and a woman's highest pitch. He had the charisma to make it but he liked his notch. The sog is a great mixture of a nigger Africaner! Case closed!
