Great tips. Especially the slow one and dig iffy signals, I was out this weekend on a mates new permission in Cheshire England. Turned on me machine walked 5 paces and had a iffy signal. I asked my mate over as he was using a deus. I was in two minds to dig it. He said he would. So I dug it. And out popped a Roman coin. I always worry if the ctx is deep as when I do air tests my coil doesn't come high up of the coins. I no its deep on large targets. I use on my ctx the 17inch coil.
Brilliant video DH. I have just purchased the CTX3030 and am really excited about using it for the first time. This video will be invaluable in assisting me in what will no doubt be a steep but very enjoyable and profitable learning curve.
Just upgraded from the ATP Pro to the CTX 3030~ I have been off to a reasonable start over three hunts and sure as I need all the knowledge base I can suck up ! Cheers
I love those "Fluffy" sounding signals. I get alot of old pennies and some silver on those. Always circle the target, if the high tone moves you can be sure it's a nail. Two targets together will give a totally different readout and tones. What I hate is modern pennies ring up 12-43 just like our silver dimes, really wish Minelab had kept the Etrac's flutey warble for silver on the CTX. I can't tell any difference between a silver dime and a 12-43 penny by sound. I just dig em all.
Very informative video. I'm still swinging an Explorer II but would like to move up to either an E-Trac or a CTX 3030. It looks like a lot of the old Explorer tricks still apply to the 3030. (Circling the target and sweeping it from different angles, going slooooow, etc.) Good stuff to know if I ever decide to shell out the bucks for one...but right now my machine's still doing me just fine.
In all reality, the only advantage the CTX has over your machine is in really heavy garbage in my opinion. I find lots of stuff in heavy nails etc, but the downside is the slow speed of the machine. My friend has a Safari 705 and he can go much faster. I like it though.
Once again....excellent video DH! I'll use these pointers next year, as my season is done.... winter hunting is just too much work afaic....not to mention the arthritis pain on those cold damp days! Hopefully we can get out for some hunting again next season buddy!
The issue I have with the CTX is that it will pick up on the iron halo and read a solid 12-39 like an Indian penny. I dig it out and it is iron 2-3" over. I can typically tell if it is iron by using the wiggle back pin pointing in comparison with the pinpointing function, because they will not be in the same place.
you would be amazed how many times the 12:39 is silver up here. i use the wiggle back as well. i dig so many one way tones. thats a whole mother video lol.
JAY DANIEL it doesn't have to be consistent both ways. I've got so much awesome stuff one one way only tones. The CTX can find lots of stuff, but honestly, I dig 99 trash signals when I'm hunting iffy stuff.
I’m thinking and really hoping this is the only problem, I think I have a bad coil it would be nice to know what a bad coil sounds and looks like but that can be hard to make a video for.
DetectHistory Ok, maybe I misunderstood you......I thought you were using a customated (combined mode) that could be downloaded to a CTX. A program or pattern
Your a pro with the ctx my friend well done with all the finds in this!! I see you’ve mentioned the Gone Hunting program. What additional settings do you use with that within the edit section? Example recovery fast, deep, sea water etc? Are some of these selected? Thanks again for your video it was amazing to see the ctx3030 in the hands of an experienced detector
My Old House I will try that thank you, also I cant seem to find the “Gone Hunting” program anywhere on the net, do you have it & if you do would it be possible to email it to me please?
Would like to see the coins a bit better. The one you got just after the nails you didn't show at all just the edge of it showing then went on to another clip.

The CTX 3030 seems like a well built ,well rounded machine.

Once you get it, it is one hell of a silver killer!
Very informative, I am in my second month with the CTX and I am finding out some of the same things you show, thanks so much for the tips!
Good spot you have. I love my CTX and yes it is great in trashy areas even with the 17in coil.

I have dug that jumpy signal so many times and 98 times out of 100 its just iron. I wish it was more than iron. Informative video...

Great video! Thanks!
Very good
hello I liked this video by against the target separation method which mode you are using
It's called gone hunting combined. You can search his video under gonehuntingforhistory. I find nothing works better than that program
lataupedu68 I'm using gone huntings combined mode. It's all I use. Do not discriminate
Great tips and great silver:)
Nice job bud!
Hi, I'm enjoying your video. You mentioned the (Gone Huntings combined) mode. Where can I find that mode to download into my machine?
Look up gone hunting for history on UA-cam. It's a great video
DetectHistory Ok, maybe I misunderstood you......I thought you were using a customated (combined mode) that could be downloaded to a CTX. A program or pattern
John Castiglione I copied the program. It's called gone huntings combined. You put that program on the ctx. He has a video on making the program.
Where can i copy the program my friend grettings from mexico

Mus London I use it on fast. Sweep slower than you think you need to. It makes a huge difference
My Old House I will try that thank you, also I cant seem to find the “Gone Hunting” program anywhere on the net, do you have it & if you do would it be possible to email it to me please?
is there any way to totally eliminate the iron signal with the 3030?
Stephen Stone you can use discrimination, but you will miss a lot of good stuff
How do we save search patterns after recording on a ctx 3030
Would like to see the coins a bit better. The one you got just after the nails you didn't show at all just the edge of it showing then went on to another clip.
How do you clean your coins
hi can you help,i have been trying to change the program name from mode 6 to my own name.please help
Probably too late a reply to help you Darren, but for anyone else....You can only change program names using the XChange2 program app on your pc.
That's alright..thanks for letting me know..already sorted..
