Suggestion: How to do the opposite of this and find any old bank accounts, pensions, premium bonds etc. associated with you but you’ve lost all records due to a fire, divorce, moving house multiple times, etc.

Start with contacting the registry to obtain copies of birth and marriage certificates then obtain new passports and driving licence. Explain situation to each organisation and they will tell you what proof of ID is required. Working records from former employers and Dr may help.

this is inspirational, i have barely been able to work in my life, i paid no attention and did nothing at school, however learning is my favourite thing now (almost any subject too!) and especially in last two years where i have also thrown my self in to my music, learning new styles and even instruments and singing, i played guitar for 30 years but just got the determination you speak off during lock down particularly... old, disabled and in agony but positive, maybe one day i will have money but i got things you can not buy :D

I had a very similar experience, spinal surgery lockdown Etc I'm an instrumentalist, but I found of all things, The Barbershop Harmony Society. I didn't know it existed and now I do, and it's a weird little subculture that I never knew existed. And now I can't imagine my life without it. I need music in some form or fashion, or my soul shrivels up and dies.

I changed my name by deed poll by simply popping in to a high street solicitors. Got a new passport. Sold everything I owned except for the contents of a small backpack and flew alone to Thailand.
In Thailand I rented everything and owned nothing. While living in Thailand I was able to easily and quickly and cheaply fly to visit places like Bali, Phillipines, Malaysia, Laos etc.
Apart from people I met on my travels, I was completely solo and had my unknown identity. I did this for 25 years. I'm old now and have just come back.
Why did I? Because I was p*ssed off back then with how my life was and wanted to 'wash my hands' of everything. I succeeded.
Returning now is also like starting fresh. Those long gone times I needed to escape from are all history. I think you can imagine that the past 25 years of my life have been 'pretty good' 🤩

In a lighter vein but on a similar subject I've just read a highly entertaining book by Elizabeth Greenwood called 'Playing Dead'. Having saddled herself with a 6 figure student loan burden she said jokingly to a friend that maybe she should just disappear. Then she decided to find out if it is possible. She did a load of research and put it all in this book. I'd like to think she has made enough money to pay off her debts.

My credit rating was fine as informed via phone call to bank, they were sorry they couldn’t open one as I didn’t have a household bill or I didn’t know the Vicar or I didn’t know the police or I wasn’t registered at the address I was staying at (my sisters). It was a bit of a nightmare but my friends and family there helped out until I got home and reimbursed them. The banks here stopped my card, was only aloud to withdraw cash from certain machines. I’m going back soon and would like to open account, any ideas how to do this?

As far as learning things later in life, it's because if I get interested in something, I want know as much as I can about it and keep current with whatever it is, But I've been like this most of my life. My Godfather was the same way, he was a pilot in the Air Force, then a Scientist working for NASA and then in his 50's he decided he wanted to become a lawyer which he did. As for living under the radar, There's a lot of people that aren't what you would expect them to be simply put, They keep to themselves for the most part, They, most of them don't have a social media presence, The intelligence agencies love social media

I have two little granddaughters, one of whom is only just one year old. Their father has decided to lead his own life. He adored his eldest daughter but now ignores her and has said he will be changing his identity. Both name and gender. Presumably to avoid helping the girls' mother. Divorce is horrendous for the mums with young children but to show people how to disappear makes it even worse.
