I have the original and love it, I need another mic for my laptop...I do prefer the deeper sound of the original but as a microphone being used with my laptop for conference calls/meetings as opposed to my pc for gaming, I just cant go past the more compact size and really, it does sound more natural without the deeper effect, at least to my ears. It costs $150, AUD in Australia, it is however great to be able to support a home grown company that offers genuinely fantastic quality products.
Is this good enough for a food mukbang video can it hear the chewing sounds? Im sorry im new to this audio thing... Hope anyone can help me To answer my questions thank you 🙏🙏🙏
I think you need a separate pop filter for the mini. I found it couldn't cope with plosives very well, and since the inbuilt filter is one of the selling points it's annoying to have to buy one separately and it narrows the price gap between them.
Yah the internal pop filter is not the best. I typically record my voice right next to the mic, but angle my mouth a bit to the side so i don’t talk or breathe directly into it
Thanks for this video, it was really helpful! I can't find the Rode NT-USB anywhere, so I'm thinking on getting the mini as it sounds pretty great for the price.
Thanks for your reply. Just to clarify, have you tried connecting it directly via USB C to Lightning? Or do I really need to use a dongle/adapter? Just concerned if the lightning port can provide enough juice to power up the Rode NT Mini USB.
This review is amazing, thank you! You also saved me from buying a lapel, as I didn’t realize you could use this with iPhone. So awesome! Ps. Love your shirt bro
Dear friend, Thanks for a useful demo on “RODE NT USB Mini” microphone, Request your advice on: - is this mic compatible with Apple- iPad8-(2020).... & iPad Air4-(2020) Tablets, - can i record VOCAL (singing) using this Mic, - is this mic compatible with Apple music apps, & - the cables supplied with Mic can connect to lightning Port and USB -C Thanks Dilip , India
Yes, you can connect this mic to Apple Music apps and all iPads via a usb-c to lightning cable, such as: amzn.to/2IbN4a7 - Yes, it sounds really good for singing vocals!
Thanks dear friend, Sorry to ask one more, For iPad Air4 (2020 latest) with USB-C port, which type of cable is required to connect Rode NT usb mini with ipad Air4 which has usb-c, (is this cable supplied with the Mic) Thanks and really appreciate your expert advice Dilip
What's up, one question.....I want to buy a gaming microphone, I'm between the fox and the Rode NT-USB Mini, which one do you recommend because it would only be for gaming and if the distance between the microphone and me would affect these two microphones when communicating with my playmates?
I bought 2 of these mic’s. I’ve started a podcast and I want to have a guest but don’t know how to set up 2 mic’s with usb. Any pointers? Maybe a cable splitter?
Hmm I haven’t tried using 2 usb mics at the same time before, but peep this link for some setup options: www.thepodcasthost.com/equipment/microphones/record-with-2-usb-microphones/
Thanks dear Ben, a small little query - i understand RODE NT Mini is not “MFI” certified, so how does this affect recording vocal ask singing on latest iPa-Air-4th gen(2929) Thanks Dilip
Hey! Thanks so much for this! Extremely helpful. I’m a VO Artist and I’ve been asked to purchase a RODE . Wasn’t sure which to get. Curious if you have any info regarding the “May cause cancer “ label on the NT USB? I noticed the mini doesn’t have that warning. Honestly that’s was the only other thing I was concerned about after your great review.
probably should go with nt usb but if you are budget streamer or trying to save 50 to 100$ (in some countries this means so much money ) better go with mini one it ain'T gonna make youj sad anyway am i right ?
Is this good enough for a food mukbang video can it hear the chewing sounds? Im sorry im new to this audio thing... Hope anyone can help me To answer my questions thank you 🙏
I think it’s def good for mukbang, especially if the mic is really close to you to get the most detail. One thing to note is this mic is only mono, so it won’t record in stereo
Considering that in amazon right now both have pretty much the same price since the rode nt usb is on sale (150 usd for the rode and 135 usd for the mini), I actually don't know which one should I buy. I don't have that much space and i don't know if the Rode nt usb might be a bit too bulky for me. Please help me. XD
The Mini is actually $99 USD on Amazon: amzn.to/32oWHrS - I’d go for the Mini for the cheaper price, USB-C, and portability. In my audio tests, I think the NT-USB is slightly more crisp in the high trebles, where the Mini is a bit more reserved in the crispy trebles. But both sound great!
@@b3naqua well, unfortunately they don't deliver to France, so in amazon France its kinda overpriced. i guess I'll try to find another website that delivers the mini to my country or maybe buy the normal version. Thanks for the advice and great content! (btw good luck for the 10k, almost there :D)

The nt usb ist a little bit better than the usb mini. The Nt usb is Warner? I think. BUT only 100$ for this sound quality, I gonna to say absolutely worth!
Using headphones, at normal speed they sound identical to me. At faster playback speeds like 1.5x they sound almost the same, and both still very good. Thx!
Good review. Probably should consider losing the fake reflection of the rainbow in the monitor, it’s a bit distracting. Everything else looks really good!
Buy the Rode NT-USB Mini: amzn.to/32oWHrS // comment with your fav mic!

It s a really good mic.. I am really curious about how it compares to videomic NTG when plugged into a computer.
Good idea! If I pick up the NTG I’ll do a comparison 👽👍🏼
i bought an nt usb... and i always have some noise like a static, any fix for that? :(
I’ve experienced that before too - try a different usbc cable
Thanks for the great review. Have you tried using this mic with an iPad or iPhone via lightning connector?

Great audio quality! I’ve been using a Blue Yeti but since all of my other video microphones are Rode, it only seemed to make sense.

Hmm I like the Rode cuz it has a built in pop filter, it’s small, good quality audio, and it has USB-C.
Is the sound quality good to be used when recording songs?
Yup! I’ve used it to record many vocals. Sounds excellent. A little sharp in the trebles sometimes, but I like that it has a built in pop filter too.
