It was 11 months ago that I made a comment on your review. Based on your review I purchased the Rode USB mini and I was able to successfully use the Rode Connect software. Then I set it aside for a while because I was doing some other things that didn’t involve the mic or any recording. When I went back to use the Rode connect app again, it wouldn’t open when I double clicked on it. To make a long story short that was at least three weeks ago, and in the interim I’ve been working with Rode support to see if they can’t get the Rode connect software to work with the Windows 11. so far I haven’t had any success, although I would give them high marks for at least making an effort. I’m going to try to work with them again tomorrow, because I think now after reviewing your video again I can give them some better info on the problem I’m seeing. Right now, the preferences part of the app doesn’t work at all. And that really is the root of the problem. I can’t alter or route the virtual and system channels as you do in the video. It would be interesting to see what would happen if you tried it again, if you can talk them into sending you another Mike. Anyway, if you have nothing better to do, this might be interesting. You really know your stuff, and he might be able to help more people than just me. Thanks very much for the great work you do. I really love the mic and I loved the software when it worked. I hope to get back there shortly again.
I've been using the older Rode U S B. Microphone..A brilliant microphone..The secret to making a U S B. Microphone recording sound awesome is what happens in post editing.

Re the programmed sound effect buttons.... Can music mp3 or midi files be dragged into the smart button? Can the music file size from a few secs to a few hours? .. Is there file limit.? I'd like music files saved that play for a long time. Can special effects plug ins be added to create voice distortions as we speak through the mic ..
Hi there. I like your tutorials so thank you. Completely new to recording music (guitar and vocal). Have an interface etc but just given the rode nt usb mini as a gift. Thought I would try it out. Followed your instructions and moved recording over onto cubase 11 via cubase import ( I struggle with cubase). Trouble is I cant hear it. Perhaps you can advise me if you know cubase at all. Is it to do with the recording being stereo?Happy NY
Thanks for the nice video. I bought this for singing and recording on my phone (sometimes on singing app such as Starmaker). But there is no way to set up gain, so my singing is always clipped. Do you know anyway around it? I tried setting gain on Computer it works great on computer but the setting is not effective on phone. Any help will be much appreciated.

great video and review. thanks! I just got this mic and i think it's great. I'm planning to use it for radio broadcasting. My only issue is that as much as i can hear a perfect balance of voice and music (Spotify playing in the system channel) in my zero latency headphones connected behind the mic, when i listen back to the recorded file, the microphone is less present and definitely less prominent and lower volume than what I had in the monitor headphones. is it me? is it the mic or it's normal ? anyone with the same issue? thanks
I have a quick question I have not seen answered here. On Windows is it possible to connect 2 USB Minis and use Adobe Audition to record each mic on a separate multitrack channel? I have tried everything and cannot seem to get it to work.
I think you have to use the RODE software to record multitrack, then you could import both the tracks onto Audition. That's off the top of my head, no longer have a Mini to try it ...
Hey I have a mac but I don't know why obs doesn't work on my system i.e my window capture and display capture doesn't work neither I can't share my chrome browser :( . I have upgraded my mac to Big Sur and I think OBS doesn't support it there. Can you help me out what is wrong ? Can I mail you ?
This Rode Connect app is buggy on Windows 11. It doesn't output sound or if it does, it will distort the sound to the point where its just pink noise. Digging through the settings did not work either. Rode has to fix this issue.
Software sucks: By default the mic is running high noise filter, cutting off sound aggressively. To use Rode connect, you need to update the mic driver. Which in turn fails from the software. And there aren't alternative dl locations. So, buyer beware: Have a good boom because chances are you won't be managing mic settings at all.

The volume button on the mic is also a mute button. Just press it to mute on and off. Made this discovery while messing with mine.

I fixed this by going into the windows 11 sound settings for your speakers or headphones and unticking enable audio enhancements.
