HEY TRIP! Did you build the organized cabinet that is behind you? That is very cool to keep all your camping gear in a safe place.! Great idea! make a video of that! man that is fancy!
Good information Trip. I have never dipped my gear in permethrin before, I've always just sprayed it on. I'm always having to wait for a day with no wind. This makes sense, I'll give the dipping a shot.
I absolutely love this channel. Thank you for continuing to put out great stuff because I know it's hard to keep producing great stuff without the large quantity of viewers that some channels get. Keep on keepin on!
Just found your channel! I'm going kayaking in the Swedish archipelago this summer and were looking for some inspiration, and I sure got it! I have seen all your 30 minute + videos on your different trips. Very inspiring, to know that you don't have to be an expert, and don't have to have all the most expensive stuff, you can manage any way! Anyway, kayak on, rock on!
Awesome Henrik! Glad you found some inspiration my man and thanks for watching!!! You're right, you have to be anyone special or need anything special. Hope your trip goes well this summer!
Which blue spring are you going to in Florida ? We're ready to do a weeks trip in the keys for my birthday. I saw you did vid on one of your key west trips... Any advice on what actual islands you camped at? I know there are lots of island preserves out there not too sure how strict fwc is about primitive camping. Great stuff brother I'm going to get some of this stuff for our upcoming trip !
I'm headed to Merritts Mill Pond in Mariana Fl. Oh wow, I'm jealous! When I did the Keys once I was on my little sailboat so no camping on islands. My one yak trip down there I spent one night on Rodriguez Key (spelling may be off). When I head back I'll be venturing toward the Barracuda Keys down there, check them out. I think most places you will be alright camping as long as there isn't obvious signage. Just my opinion though lol Have a blast and I'd love to hear how the trip goes.
Yep, we are having a similar situation there. They are getting bad so I knew I needed to treat my clothes before this next adventure. Thanks for watching and commenting Robert!
Awesome vid Trip!!! My dad does this before going in the woods for ticks! It works great!!! David pichutto mentioned you a couple episodes ago on his podcast Making it!! Pretty cool he watches the show as well! Have a blast on your trip bud! -Brian
Thanks bud! Yep, great little trick to keep them off for sure. No kidding??? Ha! Any idea which one or what they were referencing? That is certainly cool! I will! Thanks!!!!!
Hey Trip! Dave here again :-) Things you need to know about permetherine (per-mee-thrin). #1 at the top of the list is cats. Kitty's and permetherine are a bad combo. It destroys their nervous system in one dose. You only need be concerned when it's in liquid form (like that pool under your clothes while they are hanging). After your clothes dry you're fine. #2 Toxicity. Long story short you're fine. The military has been using "permetherine kits" for years. It's basically a giant ziploc with a small dose of permetherine to dilute with water. Put your clothes in, add water, mix permetherine, seal and shake. :-) #3 Cost. Don't shy away from purchasing a higher concentration (30 percent) and diluting further. Just follow your dilution ratios and you should be fine. But seriously...Don't let your cats even touch that stuff in liquid form.
I think once a year is good enough. Maybe twice depending on how often you wear the treated clothing. It will last quite a while. I did this treatment a few days before I left but it's been a month and they are still good for another few trips or another few months.
Thanks Oliver. I've debated the music with myself. I've had mostly positive reactions about it (not very many comments about it positive or negative though). I try to learn from other videos and movies on TV and most of them have some sort of music soundtrack. I used to space the music out a bit but I just now noticed that I nearly have the whole video full of background music. Maybe I'll scale it back some on the next adventure that I'm editing now.
Nice video, I'll have to try this method. I normally just use the spray. Odd question but do you have any recommendations on pants to wear while camping/kayaking/hiking?
Thanks Anthony! Works well! Clothing recommendation? Not odd at all. I love functional and practical clothing! I'd suggest the Columbia Royce Peak pants. They are nylon with a bit of elastane in them. The elastane is excellent because it makes the pants a little stretchy so they are super comfortable and easy to move in.... Definitely the way to go in my opinion, the elastane. I've got them and some other things in the S&S Amazon store, check it out here - sailingandsuch.com/amazon-store/
Thanks Clinch! I really appreciate your comment, truly. I'm certainly not a professional editor so when people give some feedback it really helps. I'll adjust it a bit, may not ditch it completely but I'll make a change and see if it's better. Let me know ;)
Another great tip Trip thanks man
You bet B!
Nice video can't wait fir your trip on monday
Thanks Lion. Me to!!!
I wish you would have done this video earlier. I could have use this info for this weekend camping at North Nest Key.
Sorry about that Laurent! Maybe you should plan another trip so you can try it out huh?
+SailingandSuch Definitely!!! Thank you for your awesome videos. Keep them coming.
Will do Laurent, headed out this morning in the rain for the next adventure lol
+SailingandSuch Be safe!!! Have a good journey, and looking forward for this video.

Awesome Jaxxx! Works like a charm!
Great idea. Especially the hammock part. thank you.
It works like a charm for me Joe. I put it on the hammock because I learned the hard way what happens when you don't. Makes for a rough night.....
I absolutely love this channel. Thank you for continuing to put out great stuff because I know it's hard to keep producing great stuff without the large quantity of viewers that some channels get. Keep on keepin on!
That's fantastic Jake! Thanks for the excellent comment! I'll keep on keepin on, it will pay off one day. Not that I don't enjoy it as it is....
Outstanding information as always, sir
Glad you think so. Thanks for the comment!

+SailingandSuch Sounds like a blast man can wait for your video. Have a great time. Thanks for the advice!
Hope it will be! Thanks!
Great tip, and it will sure come in handy down here in Texas after all the rain we've had and the skeeters hatch out.
Yep, we are having a similar situation there. They are getting bad so I knew I needed to treat my clothes before this next adventure. Thanks for watching and commenting Robert!
Thanks for the great video Trip! I will definitely try this!
Your welcome Cameron, hope it works well for you as it has me. Thanks for the comment!
Great tip👍🏽🇺🇸
Does it make your clothes stiff or put off a weird smell. Just curious, but not a deal breaker
Thanks! Doesn't make them stiff, maybe a slight smell but it isn't a bad smell. Doesn't bother me, if anything it smells a little good.....
+SailingandSuch will be trying, a must here in Texas
Good deal. Hope it works as well for you as it has for me.

Dave, thanks for the GREAT tips. Very much appreciated. I'll be sure to keep the cats out when I do it this Spring. Thanks!!!!!
Your videos are great. It's kinda funny that you're swatting at insects while making this one.
Ha! Ironic huh? Thanks for the funny observation!
Good video
Thanks! It's been working pretty well for me.
how soon do you do this before you go on your trip?
I think once a year is good enough. Maybe twice depending on how often you wear the treated clothing. It will last quite a while. I did this treatment a few days before I left but it's been a month and they are still good for another few trips or another few months.
Heads up If you get permethrin on your cat,.... it's dead. Be careful.
Yea, I've been told that.... I'll be pretty careful when I do my treating this season....
Awesome Helpful Video again Trip, Does anyone else think the background music is a little loud and frustrating ?
Thanks Oliver. I've debated the music with myself. I've had mostly positive reactions about it (not very many comments about it positive or negative though). Is it odorless?
Not 100% but it's close. I think it smells good actually.... lol
SailingandSuch my wife SWEARS she can smell it. I can't smell it on me.
Love your videos but the music is very distracting. It seems as if you're trying to talk over it. Ditch it. Your videos were great before.
Thanks Clinch! I really appreciate your comment, truly. I'm certainly not a professional editor so when people give some feedback it really helps. I'll adjust it a bit, may not ditch it completely but I'll make a change and see if it's better. Let me know ;)
Nor am I my friend. I'm from the old school of thought "Don't fix it ain't broke". Haha. Cheers from Mississippi!
Should be a new video up in about 2 hours. I took your advice and I think it was good advice. Let me know what you think.
