@timothyadcock5103 after going through a few holsters one realizes that they aren't at all the same and even the best can't fix the issue of choosing the wrong pistol. I’ve got a million small carryable semi autos but the older I get the more I like just a simple snubbie revolver. I’ve been carrying my 6 shot S&W UC432 in 32HR magnum. It’s been great. 👍🏻
Right on. I'm in same boat. I love my Ruger lcr 327mag snubbed. I use a Masters leather holster in cool to cold weather for ease of concealment and sticky pocket holster in summer. Most of the time I don't even realize I'm still carrying until I may need it. Just harder to find shorts with deep pockets. And always carry speed loader.
I've come to the same conclusion. I prefer the Ruger LCR. I carry the .38 Special most of the time in a sticky holster. You need at least a light jacket or hoodie here 9 months of the year. I can pocket carry it in my jacket/vest. Then quickly and easily stick it IWB. For the experts saying 5 shots isn't enough I ask "Not enough for what?" To stop the attack? It's a get off me tool. I think it's a better "fighting" pistol cuz it never jams even if making contact shots. If I run it dry I have other options on my person at all times. Impact tools, flashlight, knife.
@dugie5246 LAPG operator tactical shorts. Deepest pockets I've found. They're made really well, look good, variety of colors. They make them as pants too. I can comfortably pocket carry my shield in an Alabama kydex holster.
My LE career began in 1968 & we were required to be armed off duty. My service weapon was a Colt Official Police and concealing it on my skinny frame was tough. Purchased a Colt Cobra for off duty and have carried a small/light revolver ever since. A few years ago I p/u a Ruger LCP and carry that when the J Frame cannot be adequately concealed. I’ve never found anything better than either of these for EDC. In ‘74 I was in a gunfight w/my issued Colt Detective Special and while I was able to put down the bad guy, you’ll always want a cannon or machine gun when/if you find yourself in a deadly encounter.
Great video! I've carried since 88 and I've been through a lot of different edc pistols. Now mostly just an LCR but occasionally a 365 or 43X. Right now an 856 Defender. But mostly the LCR.
It would be one thing just to have a man like Hickok with his knowledge and experience with firearms. It’s yet another that he delivers it in such a measured, articulate way, and more importantly, with an underlying wisdom. He is an authentic ambassador of the firearms community, and coupled with the late, great Paul Harrell, have done more to circulate accurate, thoughtful firearms knowledge than probably any other person alive. We are all in his debt.
👍I carry a small RUGER 9mm or SW Shield PLUS in summer as attire is much less. Sometimes just the LCP. Fall & winter carry, I get the larger ones out. Rotate my SIG 229, SW 4006, my 40s. Many of my larger, heavier revolvers get out too and 1791 OWB leather has a chance to breathe with a good, sturdy belt. Past few weeks I have enjoyed the older, heavy REALL METAL ones. Thx Hickok45, you’re the best. 👍🇺🇸
Hickok, If anything, You never talk too much!! We always make time to hear whats on your mind. You are one of the few who makes sense!! Long Live Hickok45 !!! Lets have a Great 2025!!
Daily open carry allows the size, holster, and weight as not being your restrictions in what you carry. I only regretted not open carrying sooner, going on my 29th year of daily open carry.
Over the years, I have carried multiple sidearms. Browning High Power, Taurus PT 92 ATFD, then a SW Shield EZ and now it is a Beretta Tomcat. What changed? My age. Many of us get older and arthritic and so on. Many of us downsize. That is a hard decision to make, but an important one.
Good and thoughtful advice as usual. I’m older but didn’t get into guns until 2020. I’m retired military so nothing against guns but still wasn’t particularly knowledgeable so it’s been a journey. I’m right there with you now. I have a range of pistols as large as the Dan Wesson Specialist which I actually lugged around for awhile with an inside the waistband leather holster 😅. Now at 43oz loaded it’s a range gun. I too have numerous pistols, nothing compared to you of course, but more than several. I now find myself frequently carrying my P238 .380 in a sticky holster and I sometimes carry a little P938 Legion in a leather holster and I’ve stopped worrying about capacity. I do take my S&W M&P .40 in a leather holster, I’ve switched to always leather, when I walk the dog at night winter or summer sometimes the Kimber Ultra Carry II 45 ACP 3”. Over time I find myself sensitive to weight. Once in a great while I’ll carry a M11a1/P229 that I bought because I like the military version but I’m into smaller guns now. I also carry infrequent my P365 XL and P365SAS as a pocket carry in a sticky holster. I like it but I’ve slowly become more of a thumb safety sorta guy. I go to the range frequently and shoot most of my guns regularly. I like that as if you go daily you figure the times when nobody’s there. Shooting the big guns and the guns like my. Kimber K6s 2” or the Colt Python 4.25” neither of which have I ever carried I find really help me in learning to effectively shoot smaller guns. I just purchased a S&W CSX 9mm which I’m liking although it’s a bit larger for pocket carry and I’m gonna pick up the new S&W 380 2.0 first chance I get. I looked at one and it’s just my size and way lighter than either the P238 or the P938 which are both fairly hefty medal guns for their size. I’ve also taken several pistol courses which I would have argued I didn’t need, but I did which also helped. I’m 6’5” with larger hands not like your 6’9” and larger hands but still slightly problematic. I guess my advice is get started and you’ll figure it out and the more time, money, and focus you add the clearer your choice. But in the end it’s like that FBI thing I’ve heard on UA-cam videos about gunfights being 3 seconds, 3 meters, 3 shots in the end anyway. Good talk got me thinking and got me going.
Man....I love this guy. As a European, never in a million years would I carry a revolver. But Hickok is an American....I always see him with a colt .45 or something with meaning in the history of his country. I love that. Meaning counts for a lot, even if it isn't the very best in practicality...who cares...he goddam loves it! Love is everything. Enjoying your sidearm and having a relationship with it is everything....if you identify with your sidearm then you are in a good place...
This is why I have six different handguns. Seems like every couple years I find a different one that I like to carry. My current carry is a Kimber K6S.
I sold most of my guns and kept just what I practically use. I had 30 different calibers of rifles, shotguns and handguns at one time. Now I have 5. I have a ton of ammo for each of them now though.
Today, I carried A J frame in 38 special plus P.. Yesterday, I carried a Smith and Wesson M&P 4 inch 10 mm. All depends on what I'm doing, where I'm at and how I'm dressed. Just practice and be comfortable. Most of all enjoy your right to do so
Lol this one hit home, my girl, my family and close friends always ask “why do you have so many guns ?” And don’t even get me started on my collection of so called “this is the perfect holster !!!!”
For me, the most important factor is carrying it everyday. It needs to be small enough and comfortable enough that you'll carry, but big enough that you can shoot it proficiently. Find a Gun Range where you can rent different handguns to try, or ask a buddy to try some of theirs. Most days for me, its a S&W shield 1.0 9mm ( 8 rd primary, spare 9 rd mag ).
I’ve been a pocket snubbie guy for a while. Occasionally a micro 9mm, but my p938 has failed to eject range ammo recently and despite replacing factory springs and thorough teardown/clean, I don’t trust it. Planning to evaluate Bodyguard 2.0 as a “go to” deep conceal semi. Size, shot placement, and capacity make it very attractive for EDC in suburbia. ✌️ my OWB is Shield Plus 👍
I've been carrying all my life & at 75 I'm not far from the beginning, a S&W mod 40 (lemon squeezer) & a 365XL (14 + 1) and sometimes a 1911 . I've been thru a bunch to get to these three EDC(NO 380's)
I have carried and shot a M&P Shield since they came out. I'm on my third one now, but they always worked well and are relatively concealable. Before that it was a snub nose revolver. I see no need to change.
This is what I don't get; You say "...they always worked well...", but you also say "... I'm on my third one...". It confuses me. If they work well, why are you on a third one?
@@_XR40_ Good question. I sold number one thinking I wanted something different and very soon after realized how much I liked it so I bought #2. Then when the Plus came out, I decided I wanted the extra capacity that it offered. That is my EDC. I still have number 2. Thanks for commenting!
My every day carry is a Glock 42 with Trijicon HD XR Night Sights and a 9 round ETS magazine fitted with an XGRIP for a full three-finger grip. I load the magazine with 8 rounds maximum, plus one in the chamber, to ensure 100% reliability. Ammo of choice is Underwood Extreme Penetrator 380+P. This combination has very little recoil, is very controllable and EXTREMELY accurate! I carry it 24/7 in a DeSantis Nemesis Pocket Holster and honestly it's so light and compact that I forget it's there. The best self-defense pistol is the one you never leave home without!
choosing a gun is easy finding the right holster as some folks have posted is the hard part ,,,,,,,,,,,again for a gun choose something you feel comfortable carrying and shooting is that simple.
Great video. The last pistol 647 sw "the best edc" in my opinion. Have one. Perfect for civilian basic use. And accurate with practice. Again, Great video,.👍Thanks
My journey started with the S&W 3914/3913. Tried a Kel-Tec P-3AT. Then a Smith 442 J-frame. Currently I own 3 Rugers; LC9S Pro (no external safety, no mag disconnect), LCR 38 Special, and the LCP MAX .380. The only thing that keeps me from carrying the LCP MAX all the time is the trigger. I'm not comfortable carrying a gun like that in my pocket. I have a Kydex holster but it's bulky. Works perfectly IWB. The revolver meets my current needs. Easy to carry and conceal, 109% reliable for me with whatever I feed it. The trigger is the deciding factor for me in favor of the LCR. I was not skilled enough when I owned the J-frame to shoot it accurately. The .22LR and 22Mag versions are on my wishlist. New York Reload.
I switched from a Glock 36 to a S&W 642 because weight and bulk aggravated me when I am driving long distances. A couple of times I got out of my truck and thought I'd lost it because it's so light.
When it comes to capacity, I'm reminded of a 2013 incident where a man broke into a home in Georgia. Inside the home was a mother and her two children. In spite of the mother warning him that she had a gun, the intruder cornered the mother and her two children in the attic. She fired five rounds of .38 into his face and torso, puncturing his lungs, liver and stomach. Her handgun was empty. Still, he was able to get into his car and drive away. He was apprehended later and hospitalized, where he was placed on a ventilator for a time. Unfortunately, he survived and is serving time. What if he hadn't been alone?
If we're sticking to real life situations, pretty much any criminal who witnesses his co-criminal getting hit 5 times is usually going to run. They are cowardly by nature. He's probably going to book it after the 1st shot. I would also point out that for the criminal to get hit that many times that it meant that he got really close (she was in an attic) so he was probably walking up the stairs, or ladder, which would have put that dumbass in tight kill box. Again, not many people would continue to press an attack after that. That being said, it probably would have been better if she had an auto with a 10+ round mag but she got through ok. Kudos to her.
@@gunbutter830I agree that most criminals are indeed cowards, but I would also never put my family's life on the line for a "probably". Good for her for arming herself and using her tool, but it's a shame to be in that situation with an empty gun. And extremely scary. Even the most small and pitiful of Glocks hold more than a .38 revolver, so I hope afterwards she upgraded to at least a 10+ rd 380, if not a full 9mm
Transfer bar revolver: safest option. You're not going to war; you are trying to keep your people and yourself keep living and safe. Guns, bombs, all of it, shouldn't exist. Hatred and greed shouldn't exist. But the latter do, so the former must. Bad world. Love and help folks; beware those who detest love and help. It is a conundrum..
In these hot Texas summers, I have 3 staples. An LCP Max, a Smith 442 with a little larger Pachmayr grip added, and a regular boot gripped 642 that can conceal nicely in a pocket or on my ankle. I never feel under armed, so to speak.
For years and years my favorite handgun was my 4 inch S&W model 19. But a K frame 357 is hardly an ideal carry gun, so I opted for a pre 1980 3 inch model 36. But I always wanted an automatic because of magazine capacity. I just never found the holy grail. I looked at the P365 Sig, the G19, the G26, the M&P. In 2019 I found what I believe to be my perfect carry gun. It's a tad smaller than the G19 and a tad larger than the 26, but it fits my had perfectly, it rides comfortably in a Galco IWB holster, it has a 13 round stash of 9mm, and it cost under $250. I've put close to a thousand rounds thru it with nary a hiccup. Go ahead and laugh you brand snobs, but it's a Taurus G2c.
One thing is the high capacity is the weight. I’ve got a few 1911’s which are fine for me to carry. I’ve also got a 2011 that holds 15 rounds. The extra weight of all that extra ammo capacity is like carrying a boat anchor.
2 firearms. EDC Glock 42 with light and laser, Glock 19 for home defense with 33 mag extension. Not anticipating any other purchase. Happy New Year to All, be wise and safe.
The best choice is the one you will put in your pocket when you get up and put by your bed side when you go to bed every day, all others are for specific purposes and situations. Mine for the last 10 years is a Tarus 380 TCP.
Because of my job I often am asked the question, “what kind of gun should I carry.” My answer is always this, carry whatever you want. But go to a tactical pistol course at least twice a year. Nobody ever does it.
Sir, you are a wise man. Please do a video for the ladies about shooting a firearm from inside a pocketbook, may be helpful to them. Appreciate all your videos.
I go back and forth. .38 snubbie Model 10 with Church attire, usually an XDS Mod 2 .45ACP inside the waist and when I'm working at the local range, my 1911.
Truth! A man who has one gun is intimate with his gun. He knows exactly what it is capable of and you can bet your boots and your but, he is proficient with it.
In the wintertime I carry 2 642's. 1 in each zippered pocket of my coat. My 642's are no dash they are smaller than today's 642's because they were made on the standard J frame (1990-1993) In 1996 S&W went to the J magnum frame Which is a little bigger. I also always carry my beretta 950bs stainless steel in 25 auto in my pants pocket. I have carried a Beretta 25 since 1980. In the summer S&W 40 compact 15+1 with xgrip IWB holster. I have a Glock 19,22,23 and 26 and about 30 other handguns. If I could recommend just one gun to someone starting out today it would be the S&W 43c 8 shot 22lr revolver, (Hickock45 did an excellent review of it as did many others) but it must be loaded with federal punch 22lr ammo. And always remember, Laws don't stop crime. Lead stops crime.
I carry, depending on the situation: Ruger LCP in front right pocket Ruger LC9 with Crimson trace trigger guard shaped laser in front right pocket Sometimes my new style Colt King Cobra (3inch) in a TTGunleather holster, also AIWB. My Fav, HK VP9SK 9mm with Streamlight WML in an AIWB carry kydex holster from C&G. And from my LE days, I ALWAYS carry 2 reloads no matter what gun I’m packin.
I’ve tried lots of pistols and revolvers. I seem to always find my way back to old slab sides in the lords caliber. I’ve purchased an embarrassing amount of plastic wonder pistols. I don’t shoot anything as well as I shoot the 1911, so I carry what I have confidence with, not only up close but further away.
My initial CCW was a Taurus J-frame Titanium 5-shot revolver snubnose. A cheap "Soft Armor" holster between my belt and outside my pants. It was small and close to my hip, and my shirt tail out was "concealed." I moved and felt like I needed, bigger, better, more. So, I went to a Springfield XD 3.0-inch .40 S&W (9+1). I like grip safety (ala 1911) to carry "hot." Coupled with an Alien Gear IWB that I (skillfully) trimmed to accept the Swamp Fox Liberty/ w shield. I have tried other holsters (a drawer full of them), and Alien Gear has lasted the longest.
Middle-aged female here 🙋♀Wanting to find small, lightweight carry firearm. I used to shoot all the time with my ex, had my CPL. Going to get it again. Honestly feel it's an even more dangerous world, especially for women. Even with a firearm I'm not putting myself in risky situations, such as hiking in the woods alone. I'm not going to invite predators. I'll keep it for home defense mostly, but carry when I want to.
Personally, my girlfriend really likes her Bersa 380 Plus. 15 rounds of 380 hollows can be plenty against an intruder or mugger, and it doesn't buck out of her hands like my 9mm guns do. Also not to heavy and not too big so it fits in all of her bags. There's also +P ammo for the 380 in case anyone doubts it's effectiveness, and they're nasty little buggers after seeing some gel and ballistics tests.
O-H-I-O Porters🇺🇸 Good video, even though it seemed to be cut off at the end. Such good food for thought! I am so thankful that my dad had & liked guns while I was growing up. He taught me a good deal, our cop friends taught me & a brother taught me as well. My 1st gun was a 32 revolver that I got from my dad, which had been a former police officer’s gun. It was great to shoot, but not too good of a concealer. I believe that if a gun feels good in my hand then it will be fun & easy to shoot. Most of my friends have that same belief. I’ve handled many guns & usually like to grasp them for about 5 mins to get a true feeling of it. That has determined most of my purchases over the years, primarily. Capacity is important, but not my primary concern, as I believe that you either have extra ammo or a backup gun as well. The BEST defense is to not have to ever pull my weapon & try to avoid a conflict, but it seems that there are people that will always push to the extreme, so it’s best to have a gun verses a knife. Never take a knife to a gun fight, as they say. I’ve been shot at…and that sticks with ya! I don’t care as much what I have as long as it’s RELIABLE. That’s my Hillbilly way. Thanks for the info. Blessings my friend! 🥰🤩✌️
“OG Danger Show” talked about this some time back about .22 caliber handguns for carry. Especially for women with smaller hands and low wrist strength. Once a bad guy realizes he has lead returning or as you said, the one they’re going after just produces a gun is more often enough to persuade them to take off. Thought that was the direction this video was going to which it sorta did. I’m a big guy but when in casual clothing, I feel the weight even as a wallet feels heavy. I don’t carry a phone because it’s like a brick to me. Smaller is better just like hits compared to misses. Pretty sure that was your demo at the end. Give the perp the FIBS factor.
I chose two carry pistols, one is a Charter Arms Pitbull, 45 acp, light but a great little shooter, it's my daily. For special occasions, I have my Colt Defender, in a shoulder holster, conceals perfectly, hits what I aim at, and is slightly heavier than the other one. I also picked up a Glock 48 9mm, will swap that out soon for the 43x, but I don't carry it much as it sits on a magnet next to my chair. I'm older, and I answer the door with it in my hand. My neighbors think I'm a touch paranoid, I like to think I'm prepared for trouble, which has dogged my heels for 50+ years.
A range gun or a open carry service gun is not pressing the envelope very hard. Once one needs to carry something concealed deeply inside the waistband it changes things dramatically (but only if one actually carries it or just larps at it occasionally, picking the times and places and limiting things to easy situations. Any handgun is easy to "carry" in a glove compartment or trunk safe...
I live near Orlando. It’s hot all year. I carry a P365 most of the time. When I’m wearing swooshy shirts I carry a J Frame with a Crimson Trace grip. However, I have just bought a Bodyguard 2.0 to replace the J Frame. I haven’t shot it yet so so I don’t know if it works reliably.
I love what I think is the safest firearm an XDe. Has hammer, safety, etc. to me it is the best but no longer sold or made. I did buy both .45 and 9mm and my local dealer had another in stock I bought. I’d love you to do a review. Maybe you have. I bet you’d agree it has many safety features!
I am probably going to have to have two carry guns. One for my everyday, self-defense, and another for my church security. Where I sit, operating the sound and video systems in my church, I am 17-18 yards away from the musician's platform. For that purpose, I am using a S&W M&P9 M2.0 Compact, 9mm with 4" barrel and a green dot, holographic sight. That, I can hide under a suit jacket, with a visible bulge. I am a small person, just 5ft 1in tall and 130lbs. Impossible to carry a gun of any size inside my waistband. Considering getting a compact .380 for everyday self-defense carry. It would be more comfortable and less visible under a shirt.
PM9 for 15 years. No failures, ever. Never drawn but hand on the grip a couple of times. Recently purchased a Shield plus to increase capacity. Kahr introduced their double stack at Shot Show 2024 but never marketed the gun. The Shield Plus is fine. Shoots well. No failures during break in but more difficult to conceal than the PM9. So, I still carry the PM9 but have a great back up. IN colder weather with bulkier clothes, the Shield may be on the belt. Either one will work but at 75 I’m hoping to never use either one. Pay attention and avoid conflict. Happy 2025.
When you had your hand around the grip the assailants knew even if you never drew down on them. Predators have the instinct to be aware when the tables are turning against them. Been there too.
I used to have the G26 and loved it. However, got the itch and sold it when the whole single stack and then micro 9 craze’s came about. Since then I’ve had the Shield, G43, Springfield XDS, 43x mos, P365, Hellcat, and now the Shield Plus. All great guns, but I’ve since come to the conclusion that it was a mistake not keeping the G26. I really miss that one. Of all the guns I’ve owned and sold over the years, the G26 is the only one I’ve ever regretted getting rid of.
If choosing a firearm seems difficult wait till you try to choose a holster. 😅
I’m sure the good people at ALABAMA HOLSTERS will help with that! 😉

One thing I have learned is a firearm and a holster will vary from person to person. What works for one dosent necessarily work for another.
Thank you for your service and sharing that story.
Excellent content. My 43X w/Dagger micro slick 15 rd mag is my choice of carry. Conceals like a dream. 👍🏻
Two bits of wisdom from Paul: Get a dog & fire extinguisher. From Hickok, your best self defense is between your ears.
Didn't know about Paul Harrell 😢.
Guns are like poison ivy. Once you get that contagious scratch, it’s hard to get rid of. Nice clip that sure was a pretty day.
amen brother! started with shotgun and handgun 5 yrs ago. up to 8. and always lookin to add more.
Hickok, If anything, You never talk too much!! We always make time to hear whats on your mind. You are one of the few who makes sense!! Long Live Hickok45 !!! Lets have a Great 2025!!
Aside from shoot-ability and comfort one detail not often discussed is being able to draw from concealed while also getting proper grip placement.
No problem. Just walk around with it at the low-ready position.
I walk around with my hand in pocket ✌️
@@callmesceptical9114 That is something altogether different...
My carry gun is a Kimber 1911 ultra carry ll in 45 acp --works for me
Daily open carry allows the size, holster, and weight as not being your restrictions in what you carry. I only regretted not open carrying sooner, going on my 29th year of daily open carry.
I'm right there with ya brother 🇺🇲🇺🇲🎤🎤
I’m glad you live in a Free State ! I do too. If not I’d move !
Not moving just to open carry that’s asinine 😂
😂@@davidmann4533
Over the years, I have carried multiple sidearms. Browning High Power, Taurus PT 92 ATFD, then a SW Shield EZ and now it is a Beretta Tomcat. What changed? My age. Many of us get older and arthritic and so on. Many of us downsize. That is a hard decision to make, but an important one.
I carry my arms on my side they’re pretty long 😂
Good and thoughtful advice as usual.
Great Talk!!!! Know your gun and the system with it !!!! Know where you are!!!! Think before Doing!!!!
from about 7:35 forward, just an exemplary argument for level-headed consideration of capacity vs threat. Great stuff, Sir. This is why I subscribe...
First comes the Gun
Second comes the Holster
Third comes the Belt
Fourth comes the Range Bag....
It goes on & on 😮
This was a really good one. Especially towards the end talking about levels of confrontation. Made me think.
This was the best capacity talk I've ever heard. Thanks Hickok45!
You can carry 5 rounds more capacity, or you can map your exits when you arrive.
Beretta 92, Smith & Wesson 4013, Glock 23, Glock 27, Smith & Wesson 638, Smith & Wesson 640, Walther PPS mk2, Glock 43, Sig P-365. So far.
This is why I have six different handguns. Seems like every couple years I find a different one that I like to carry. My current carry is a Kimber K6S.
Those are rookie numbers LOL. They tend to add up over time.
@ Lol. I know I have some catching up to do.
I sold most of my guns and kept just what I practically use. I had 30 different calibers of rifles, shotguns and handguns at one time. Now I have 5. I have a ton of ammo for each of them now though.
@@Brett235why so few ? Ha !
I’ve got two gun safes full with others around and two in the car. Don’t get me talking about ammo !
My in the pocket pistol is the S&W Bodyguard 2.0. OWB carry is H&K VP9SK-B or Shield+.
@@gregkloe Fair enough. That actually does make sense.
We're about same age(
I can definitely see you as a school teacher 👍,, thanks for another great video !!!
Well obviously. Who would even consider leaving home without a gun. Hell I EDC a 1911 5" sometimes....
He gives the advice of a grandfather spot on that’s why he’s the big dog
Interesting timing on this video. I was just thinking I should revisit my ideas about a concealed carry gun.
choosing a gun is easy finding the right holster as some folks have posted is the hard part ,,,,,,,,,,,again for a gun choose something you feel comfortable carrying and shooting is that simple.
Out of all in my collection I tend to gravitate towards my g26 gen4. I have newer nicer more compact pistols but the glock just feels like home.
38 and 9mm are poor for defensive purposes
@@timjohnson8390 Every pistol caliber is poor for defensive purposes.
@gunbutter830 Sure, however there are better options over others.
This man is a treasure to America. God Bless Him and his family.
I open carry the S&W 686 Plus .357, 5-inch barrel. I'm 61 and this was my first and so far only firearm. Never owned a gun until I was about 58.
Thank you for Mentioning Charter Arms the last gun company left in Connecticut 🙏
My uncle told me 'Get to know your gun'. The wisdom here is that if ever you need to use it, you won't have to remember which one you are carrying.
Beautiful segment spoken from the heart and nothing crazy about it.
I carry a snub-nosed .38 in a quality leather holster in my pocket. A lot of firepower in a small package and it's comfortable to carry.
Thanks for sharing your experience
Just got my gen 5 26 last night love it .
I want one of those. I got a gen5 27. I love it.
I got mine cut for a dot and it’s super accurate hard to miss 😅
For me pocket carry is the best, generally a Ruger LCP or LCR in a pocket holster.
The best choice is the one you will put in your pocket when you get up and put by your bed side when you go to bed every day, all others are for specific purposes and situations. Mine for the last 10 years is a Tarus 380 TCP.
Because of my job I often am asked the question, “what kind of gun should I carry.”
My answer is always this, carry whatever you want. But go to a tactical pistol course at least twice a year. Nobody ever does it.
I have been carrying a CZ P-07 for 12 years. Colonel Cooper spoke the truth.
Sir, you are a wise man. Please do a video for the ladies about shooting a firearm from inside a pocketbook, may be helpful to them.
Appreciate all your videos.
If one carries a high capacity firearm as a civilian because they are expecting trouble; they’re going to the wrong area.
Many concealed weapons hurt to carry. One may laugh, but I have carried a Beretta 22 Bobcat pocket pistol for 30 years.
P365XL summer. P10C winter. As I always say. Rent before you buy. Make sure you can handle it. Then train, train, then train so more!
I go back and forth. .38 snubbie Model 10 with Church attire, usually an XDS Mod 2 .45ACP inside the waist and when I'm working at the local range, my 1911.
Love my 642!!
I’m moving to Tennessee, looks like it’s already spring there!!!❤😂
You're a good and smart man, Mr. Hickok.
Truth, I own a bunch of carry guns but seem to always go back to my S&W model 36 Chiefs Special in 38 Special.
As the old saying goes: Beware of the man that has only one gun.
Truth!
A man who has one gun is intimate with his gun.
He knows exactly what it is capable of and you can bet your boots and your but, he is proficient with it.
I feel like theres two ends of a spectrum to this saying
I carry, depending on the situation:
Ruger LCP in front right pocket
Ruger LC9 with Crimson trace trigger guard shaped laser in front right pocket
Sometimes my new style Colt King Cobra (3inch) in a TTGunleather holster, also AIWB.
My Fav, HK VP9SK 9mm with Streamlight WML in an AIWB carry kydex holster from C&G.
And from my LE days, I ALWAYS carry 2 reloads no matter what gun I’m packin.
It's easy for me, if it fits my grip, wallet, capacity standards and is of the right caliber, she's a winner.😊
Great video!! Very common sense stuff. I like that little revolver. Seems smooth.
*I just got a Makarov today for my new EDC.*
if you know how many guns you have you don't have enough
Sometimes with some things less is more.
I thought my Beretta 92 would be my only handgun; I never even considered a CC permit because I live in N.J.
I've cut my collection down to the 26 and the 19. Covers all the bases for me.
I have a 642 loaded with +p+ and 3 speed loaders.
That is a regular in the Summer rotation,
I knew the 642 was in his pocket! He can't get enough of those! I won't hate, though, they are still a fine choice for pocket carry!
Thank you Hickok. Good video.
Agree entirely on the J frame Smith
I started carrying in 2021. I'm on my fifth carry weapon. Currently i carry the S&W shield 2.0 in 30 Super Carry. I think i can stay with it now.
