    I liked this video but you missed a very very important person. Someone who sacrificed his life for aviation. Otto Lilienthal is a giant in aeronautical history. Aviation history is never complete without him. The aeronautical data from his numerous glider flights were the basis for any technical development after his death. Wright brothers were largely inspired by Lilienthal. It's widely believed that Lilienthal would have made the first successful powered airplane if he survived the glider accident.

      Santos Dumont's contributions are actually fairly negligible. Not only did the 14-bis fly after the Wright Flyer, Wright Flyer II, and Wright Flyer III, but the box kite construction was a dead-end design. The design of the Wright Flyers were far more valuable to modern airplane design.

    Great video, regarding some other comments I feel like I need to give my two (or three) cents.
    1. "X was the true pioneer of flight and you didn't mention him" They can't possibly mention everyone. They gave spotlight to people who were documented to have made significant advantages. Sir George Cayley figured out the principles of weight, lift, drag, and thrust that make flight possible. Wright Brothers, debate this as much as you like, figured out the 3-axis control of yaw, pitch, and roll. People may have flew self-powered heavier than air vehicles before them but without their revolutionary control scheme these would have no practical applications. (Video doesn't mention this but also they figured out the right wing shape. Before them people had just assumed that wings need to be symmetrical on the front-end axis)
    2. "Red Baron and Rene Fonck" I had recalled that Manfred von Richtofen (who got his nickname from the color of his aircraft) became arrogant with the status of Ace but brief Wikipedia check didn't support this, instead having mention that he refuted his autobiography for being "too arrogant." In any case he continued to fly despite having suffered serious injuries during a combat mission. "Shooting down allied planes for fun" isn't the most arrogant statement but stands out when next to Rene's "Number One Pilot, for la France"
    3. "Night Witches from Russia with love" didn't really fight for me since I'm Finnish. Fact remains, they don't get enough credit for their performance. Video says they dropped 3 000 tons of bombs. This is incorrect, or at least Wikipedia claims they dropped 23 000 tons. They flew during night and "Night Witches" is in fact nickname given by German troops subjected to not only explosives, but also to psychological warfare. They could never rest easy. At any moment, idle-engine biplane could be flying above them. Even radars of the time couldn't detect the wood-and-canvas air frames.

    Night Witches: we dropped 3,000 tons of bombs

      What the night witches did is impressive when you take into consideration the planes they were given.

      Oh, certainly. But 3K tons isn’t too impressive in the scheme of things.

      @@jamesharding3459 And the night witches were just one regiment. Obviously they dropped fewer bombs than the entire USAAF.

      @James Harding I'd argue that harrasment and morale busting was pretty important. And by that logic,
      379th bomb group: We dropped 26,640 tons of bombs.
      RAF: That's cute.

      also bomber did not have guns because they would be useless especially since the night witches had ww1 planes and yes they where big but also they where slower that fighter so they bomb then not fought them because the Germans planned where better than spifires.

      and you mean also Mari Natasha because these where soviet persey and the other are American America and Britain also had female fighter but they bombed in modern movers with no guns they did it in bigger slower ww1 planes that where 3 seated because the Germans bombed their planes after winder the Soviet had modern planes but it was difficult

    What about Abbas Ibn Farnas? He is a breakthrough in aviation...he glided for over 20 minutes and landed safely on his second try. His first try was really bad, but his second is revolutionary!

    • @jojoyayathereal
      @jojoyayathereal 2 роки тому

      1500 km that's how far it was. I was surprised because old WWI planes can't fly that far and also you cannot land you will get tohs but if you fly low you are ok after the first winter they had already repaired their plane is old WWI planes to try to bmob a city they did use that but they did not use old WWI plane to have air superiority that wouldn't make sense they use that for bmobing and for missing secret messages Also maybe you bummed that position that you didn't fight with them and also it was used to transmit messages not fight them because ww1 fighter where really slow so there so they wouldn't bum but CT is that the soldiers previously owned and there were one fighter plains where only for transmission and you can't fight ww2 planes with ww1 planes ww1 bmobers where 3 seated so the each women thing was not useful up until winter 1941 the Russian only used ww1 planes until winter of the same invasion year and you cannot fly 1000 times in that span with ww1 planes.
