I have visited Brisbane 8 times, the last time in 1999. Thank you for this video, it brings back many wonderful memories of the city, in a country I know so well and have travelled around so much. Australia is, and will always remain, the country I love the most and the country I know the best.
Brisbane and Southeast Queensland: Great place, great people. It was hard for me to move away and return to the US. I was in QLD for the '18 Commonwealth Games, and will return for the '32 Olympics.

I have been to Brisbane a few times but just in and out to see The Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast but the most important thing about Brisbane I meet my wife there but we are both from Melbourne we met at World Expo 88 and we are still together.

I'm glad you enjoyed it. And I love it how you were intrigued by the bird in the park - what we call a 'bin chicken' (sacred ibis is its proper and more dignified name). We love to make a bit of a character out of them.

The metro is the smaller version of the supermarket chain Woolworths…its just the small city version. Also those black and white birds that you think are beautiful are ibises and are considered a pest…they’re affectionately known as “bin chooks” cos they tend to forage in bins, hence why a lot of the street rubbish bins usuallt have some sort of hood on them to stop them going into them 😊
In regards to that “metro,” thats not the name of the supermarket. The stylised ‘W’ is the Woolworths logo. Woolworths and Coles are basically a duopoly in australia controlling the lions share of the grocery/supermarket business. The word metro there indicates that it’s ‘metropolitan,’ ie. a smaller inner city store that you should expect a shrunk down version of their more typical 15 aisle, full service deli, butcher, bla bla etc. suburban layouts.

No history of Brisbane (or Australia for that matter) would be complete and fair without looking into the original indigenous population and their treatment post white settlement. I truly hope you enjoy your visit to Australia and SE Queensland in particular, but I think you would benefit from looking into the history of Indigenous peoples here as well.
We experienced a little bit of the culture as we showed in the 2nd video in Adelaide and we were fascinated. Should definitely experience more hopefully one day in the outback 🙏

Brisbane is the fastest growing city in Australia. It's an outdoor city. It has stacks of entertainment and loads to do. This bloke doesn't get enough. Something I think you notice is most places close early. Brisbanites are early birds. They get up earliest in the world. 6.25am. People get out and about. Why wouldn't they. Amazing weather.

We experienced a little bit of the culture as we showed in the 2nd video in Adelaide and we were fascinated. Should definitely experience more hopefully one day in the outback 🙏

Brisbane is the fastest growing city in Australia. It's an outdoor city. It has stacks of entertainment and loads to do. This bloke doesn't get enough.
Something I think you notice is most places close early. Brisbanites are early birds. They get up earliest in the world. 6.25am. People get out and about. Why wouldn't they. Amazing weather.
Has the timing of sunrise/sunset have something to do with that? With great weather all year round...I would be out and about too.
