Tia ... you anxiety in relation to big cities and crowds is well understood; brave of you to be so open about it. Once you hit the real Outback you will revel in its solitude and grandeur - the redness of the dirt, the blueness of the sky a night sky with more stars than you could ever imagine. Cities are a necessity that I tolerate but it is the Outback that feeds my soul.
Thanks for visiting! It's a great place, I've lived here for years, Brisbane is basically in the sweet spot in Australia for weather, laid-back lifestyle, enough amenities and cultural events, relatively affordable housing, while still having decent job opportunities. The main thing that I think that needs a lot of improvement is better public transport, especially rail (ideally some underground metro rail Ines), but there is a lot of advocacy pushing public and active transport, and at least some projects are in construction at the moment.
That calm vibe of Brisbane is why I love it so much. Cities generally stress me out, but Brissy has always been an exception to that. If you ever do venture back, that 'brewery' you spotted under the Story Bridge has some of the City's best restaurants.
Having lived in Queensland myself for 6yrs, it's definitely more laid back. You should come back to Brisbane in 9yrs as Brisbane is hosting the 2032 Olympic Games 😊❤ I also live with Anxiety & Autism and I went over to Europe by myself in October last year and did a tour for 5 weeks. I was anxious about not knowing anyone, but i had a blast and can't wait to travel again soon.
Good on you Tamara! Well done! I travelled by myself when I was younger and i used to hyperventilate a lot! Not so bad now! Glad I did lots of travel before I married! Take care! Good luck with your travels!
Really enjoying your travels! Just a quick word re the harsher sun in Australia: The elliptical orbit of the Earth and our axial tilt combine to place the Southern Hemisphere closer to the sun during its summer months than the Northern Hemisphere. Coupled with our clearer atmospheric conditions, this means that Australians are exposed to up to 15% more UV than Europeans. There is of course a thinner ozone layer above Antarctica but it has less to do with that & more to do with our position in the Southern Hemisphere.✌🏼
It's true - although people in the Northern Hemisphere are going to have to become more sun-smart, since pollution controls are starting to make some effect. International agreements to limit sulphur content in shipping fuel over the last few years being a big one - the sulphur dioxide pollution that sulphur created did shield some UV, and removing it has probably already brought the Northern Hemisphere a couple of percentage points closer (in the amount UV that gets to the ground) to us down South.
Most, if not all, Australians understand what you mean about our* land's vastness. There is something so freeing about feeling so small in front of something so expansive. It is liberating when you realise how insignificant we are in comparison to nature's sublime scape. It makes complete sense that Tia can catch her breath and find her peace when away from the frenetic energy of others that makes us so self-aware and self-conscious in front of them. Don't worry, Tia, we get you, and we are happy that you're able to find happiness in our landscape. *technically, our first nation people's.
This has been an extra special vlog because you shared such personal feelings. I have something similar and I am always grateful that I was born in Australia where I can get away from people relatively easily.
I don't usually watch travel vlogs but you're such a lovely couple who see everything with positivity even when things may be different to what you're used to back in the states. Keep up the good work! ❤
If ya like the vast expanse of nature, next time u come back to Australia you have to see Tasmania, it's an often overlooked Gem , especially in summer.. Oh & when u cheers , say Cheers Big ears
15:14 funny you should make a comparison to Vietnam; the Australian army’s Jungle Warfare centre was in Canungra, which is in the mountains behind the Gold Coast. That’s where our soldiers going to Vietnam were trained before they shipped out.
I am loving that you both find positive things about each city and state that you go to. There has always been an interstate rivalry here, but there should be more interstate appreciation happening. I hope this channel helps others maybe think about visiting other cities in Aus.
Tia thank you for being so vulnerable! One of the many of reason why I LOVE watching you guys is because I relate to you so much, as an anxious girly myself. There have been so many instances where I relate to you (fear of crossing the street, social anxiety etc) and seeing you surpass your fears is truly empowering. The proudest moment was seeing you get on a motorbike in Vietnam and rocking it! Hope to get there one day
The seat-belted pineapples 19:37 cracked me up! 🤣🤣 Sending warm (and very humid 😆) greetings from Singapore! Keep up the great content! Loving your "Great Aussie Road Trip" in 'Blueberry'...
@@OnePackWanderers I know it was a 'joke' seat-belting, but ideally, you might want to carry them in the boot or a backpack - if the worst happens, especially at speed in the country, they would be a missile into the back of your head. There's an Aussie joke about the 'raw end of a pineapple' but they would hurt - even kill one or both of you. Just saying because of care, not being a smartarse. Cheers and safe travels 👍👍😊😊
If you are going to Darwin, I have a tip for you. Every Thursday evening there is a sunset market at Mindil beach which is a must see. The food stalls are terrific. The tip is regarding the famous Darwin sunsets. Tourists having heard about the famous Darwin sunsets will watch the sun set into the sea and as soon as they see it set they turn around and leave as they have seen the sunset. NO! The actual show starts AFTER the sun has set. For the next 45 minutes to an hour you will see a beautiful sky with constantly changing colours that is even more spectacular if there have been recent bushfires as the smoke particles refract the sunlight. We lived in Darwin for 30 years and our Mindil market routine used to be to take a picnic table and camping chairs with a nice bottle of wine, buy food from the food trucks and enjoy the changing colours of the sky after sunset over dinner.
Awwwe, sweetheart, thank you for expressing how you feel in crowded surroundings It's something many people experience and as a First Nations women, Im so pleased you found a sense of relief on that summit. Getting away from the hussel and bussel is in our blood and vitally important. So be in the moment hun. Seriously you two seem to be sone of the most beautiful people! Chev so supportive & Tia so cute & bubbly! Your humour & relaxed style almost makes me forget you aren’t Aussies. This is the perfect place for you both.
@@OnePackWanderers oh that would be perfect!!! You suit Australia so well. I think it would be a perfect fit for you. I love that you feel refreshed by being in nature much like I do! You are very much inspiring me to get out and just trip around more. Really ♥️ you guys 😄
@@OnePackWanderers the Australian immigration program is opening up big time after the covid shutdown. There is admittedly a lot of opposition (house prices and rents being forced up etc etc) but Australia's economy thrives on having migrant inflows. Migrating to Australia is not as hard as one might think - especially as a "skilled migrant" if you have skills/qualifications that are in short supply. Unlike the US immigration system which is effectively a lottery, Australia actually searches out people with skills that our labour market needs.
@@OnePackWanderersmaybe check out some of the horrific things that happened during Australian lockdowns before you think about moving here. It could happen again any time. Australia doesn't have a constitution to protect its citizens like the USA. We weren't allowed to leave the country, the states closed against each other, families separated and much more. NSW and South Australia were the best especially SA!
You guys are the pure form of enjoyment , not all about the bright lights and frenetic pace of our cities. But to share the moment while just sitting on the rocks in the mountains , that is for me at least , Real ..... Great work to you both. Our two newest AUSSIES. Cheers 🍻
Oh I love you guys, so cute and lovely to watch, love your Aussie accents too “mate” 😂. It’s great to hear your thoughts on Australia and how you are always so positive. Thoroughly enjoying watching your travels. Looking forward to watching you see the rest of our country
YAY welcome to Queensland. Did you see any beaches on the Gold Coast on the way through? Thank you for showing your vulnerable side guys, you’re not alone
Hope you had a nice time in Brissy. It really is a lovely relaxed city with a fantastic outdoor vibe. Did you hike Mt Coot-tha to check out the view?. The weather in winter is just perfection. Nothing better than enjoying a great coffee outside on a sunny winters day. I was hoping you would check out the architecture of the gorgeous “queenslander homes”. Also surprised when people by pass Stradbroke island or Moreton Island. It’s just stunning and a world heritage listed marine park. Ps understand the anxiety. I visited New York in 2016 and it was so hard to get out there everyday with so many people. I felt like I was having a panic attack every time I left my hotel room.
Once again you two made my day by bringing me along with you. This time you're in my home town of Brisbane where I spent the first 40 years of life and where all of mine and my husband's family still live. We're now in South Australia where you were when UA-cam popped up your video and I've been watching ever since. Tia, I love that you can express how you're feeling, acknowledge it, and keep on living and experiencing the life you and Cheveyo have created for yourselves. As long as the anxiety doesn't stop you, let it be what it is and keep on finding all of the magical moments in between.
Tia, thanks for sharing with us your feelings. Not everyone is outgoing and carefree and those that are can sometimes be covering up there fears I have been following you guys since Perth and have enjoyed so much your take on our beautiful country although I am jealous that in the time you have been here you have seen more of Australian than I have in 68 years of living here please remember us when you go back to the US and know you are always welcome here
It's super refreshing to hear Tia talk about her anxiety. It takes a lot of courage to talk about it openly and to put yourself in situations that aggravate the anxiety. Good job Tia! and good job Cheveyo for being so supportive
Noosa isn’t mcdonaldised as much as Goldie. It is actually a beautiful seaside town out of season and during the week. There’s so much here to see from the hinterland to the river mouth. And the wonderful national park headland with all the surf breaks.
My favourite "Travelling Australia" couple of all time! No pretend van life! just a cheap reliable Mazda sedan , Motels and Air B&B,s over roughing it and stealth camping just like 99% of us would do! Mind you I still want to see Tia in a bad mood lol Well done from Perth :) We have done similar in USA in the early 90,s But we could only share via postcards sent and pics when we got home! Come on Tia give us a Grrr travelling moment lol
I was a flight attendant for Qantas flying international and had to leave after 8 years because I got a fear of flying 7 years in. The planes were safe, I trusted my pilots and fellow staff members but my anxiety hit. After leaving Qantas I worked in many places where flying was needed to get to my office in the US, UK and Europe and I even went back to Jetstar 20 years later, so it is something that we live with but push past so to make sure we don't miss out on life. Emotions and mind talk are real and I love your travels. BTW I am now living in Brisbane and feel content with my city. Safe travels
I have been lucky enough to have visited Queensland a couple of times from the UK.and i love it,i love Brisbane, but i especially love the Glass House Mountains and also one of Australia,s greatest treasures the Daintree rain forest up near Cape Tribulation,Cheers too you both, enjoy.
I totally understand Tias anxiety in crowds. My beautiful misses knows that sometimes when we are shopping i just want to get out of there. Its a claustrophobic feeling. Its not rational but we aren't robots either. We are all wired different. But good on her for being so honest and decent about it. Most Aussies i feel are pretty understanding if they know you're struggling. I love their attitude and demeanor towards Australia and am so glad they are here enjoying themselves.would love to see them stay here. 😊
Nature is the best cure for anxiety and I feel the same when I go to cities, whenever we go somewhere that is really built up we make sure to go to a wildlife park, mountain hike or even just a beach to unwind and let nature unclutter the brain. I think that we are lucky that most Australian cities are only half an hour away from a good nature walk. I'm absolutely loving watching you guys love our beautiful country.
You two are doing and saying things so well, that I was surprised and laughed when you put on sunscreen! -To be fair, I’ve not used the spray on stuff. Keep it up though. And hats. I’m hoping Tia finds a broader brim. Oh, important!! - When you two leave the city and go bush….find a dark place on a clear sky (maybe no moon) and look up at the sky. ✨✨
First time I’ve seen one of your blogs - the fact is was about my home town caught my attention 😊 It’s so nice to hear a visitor’s description of Brisbane - made me realise how lucky I am to live here. Thanks 🙏 😊
Hey guys, welcome to my hometown... hope you like it. If you're heading north then there's plenty of open space, bushland and beautiful coastline and mountains for you to enjoy.
You guys are great, my fiancé and I just got back from a trip in Europe and as Australians it's lovely to see our country through your lens. We need to explore our own backyard more!
You guys are amazing and beautiful souls, you transparency and sharing your challenges takes a lot I am sure and I am grateful you speak about it as it bring awareness to other. You guys bypassed all the Gold Coast waterfalls and beaches…I am sure you will see plenty of beautiful ones up north.
Forgot to say if you haven’t already ventured too far north you should def visit the Gold Coast as it is Australia’s answer to Miami! Would be interested to hear what you think
If you come to the Gold Coast. Best beaches, are Duranbah, Burleigh, Snapper Rocks, Nobbys beach, Currumbin. Carrara markets is on the Gold Coast and is Australia’s largest outdoor market cap. Wednesday, Friday and Saturday is Miami Marketta, you will love it. Really awesome bagel place called O Bagel in Broadbeach. Wildlife sanctuary in Currumbin you can feed the Rainbow Lorikeets (parrots), Burleigh lookout. Tallebudgera creek walk has platforms to walk all through the marsh/mud plains through the river.
My wife and I were in Brisbane a couple months ago. Stayed at Southbank and saw Hamilton at the theatre there. Also went on that epic park walk you guys did. Yeah, it’s long. Loving the vids guys. 🍻
It was great to see your perspective on our home! We used to hike the glass house mountains every other weekend😊 really enjoyed the vlog, keep up the awesome content!
The weather has been a bit ordinary in Brisbane recently, but I’m glad it you got some normal magnificent Brisbane winter whilst you were here😎 You’re going to love travelling north…no more big cities until Perth
Glad you are having a good time, and getting to relax in nature. Don't worry Tia, everyone has issues they have to deal with. Cities can be quite stressful. :-) Not sure where you are now, or if you are heading to Cairns or going inland before then. if you do go to Cairns, the esplanade water area is nice and free. But the waterfalls around the atherton tablelands are great to get away from the crowds. (weekdays) you can swim at some of the waterfalls. I think you mentioned somewhere that you are not doing Far North QLD (FNQ) this trip.. so maybe something for another time.
Thanks for talking about your anxiety. I deal with it everyday and it can be really hard and exhausting. Good on you for expressing yourself. It really helps others
03:07: yes one of the common styles we have is Italianate architecture, but don't worry about any of the technical stuff, they're just names and we have different vibes for them based on our own local spins. Brissy is good for its vernacular styles like queenslanders, though they were derived from South East Asian adaptations. Also global-phenomenon Bluey is set here 😉 And yes, places that don't put cars above humans are just, well, better for people. Though when you do want to escape, having good urban design that is compact (dense so it isn't the most sprawly in the world as our cities are) with easy access to green spaces is key, while there will always be those pristine natural spaces in between. Tasmania will be great for nature 🍀
South bank has massive free beach pools and greenery, nice walks the museum gallery of modern art, markets and pubs. Also mt tamborine is a nice area close enough to Brisbane. Roma street parklands are nice to see to
3 things that are amazing about you guys, Tia talking about her anxiety is just so heartfelt and I am sure we all love you for that. The 2 pinapples with the seatbelt on is just hilarious and taking the piss out of our speech is the best of all and I personally love it!. You guys have to be at 100K subs before you finish your trip here....thats the objective ok.
Watching your videos of Australia, is making remember what we have here and what we sometimes take for granted. That's definitely one thing I'm very appreciative of in Australia - that we have this room the breathe and get away from the cities if we need to.
Yea it really was a lot quieter than many of the beach towns in QLD. Our hostel also had $6 pints, which is half the cost of the pints at our hostel in Airlie Beach 😂
You two are great, so respectful to our country and you're visiting the out of the way places that are the essence of Australia. Really good video footage and dialog, I'm so happy you guys have enjoyed your experiences here. I watch quite a few videos of Americans visiting our country and the topics range around what's different at Maccas to people going bare foot at the supermarket (we do that) for crying out loud, thankyou for coming😊
I couldn't love you two more. So glad you enjoyed my adopted home, I wish I could have taken you to a really great rooftop bar 😁 Thank you Tia for allowing yourself to be vulnerable with us. You make others with anxiety to feel understood. Cheveyo, your aussie accent is on point, well done.
Tia....your struggle with anxiety is one filled with battles both small and large. Those that know, will always reach out with reassurance and belief. You are blessed to have both a loving, supportive partner.....as well as a loving, supportive community of followers....who will reach out when necessary, as well as celebrate the sheer joy when you explore and enjoy not only our wonderful country....but your travels wherever they may take you....x
Another great video guys. Very proud of you Tia being able to talk about your anxiety and how you are conquering them. I'm so glad you both are enjoying your trip around Australia. I agree when summer comes it would be good to experience more inland. Especially as there has been so much snow in NSW an VIC over the past few days. It's been cold.
One of the highlights of my week waiting for your updated video, love that you're exploring my home state of QLD :) The further North you go the lest crowded it will feel, the pace just slows down and the lifestyle is just so easy going. 🌴🍍🥭☀
Loving watching the trip guys. I saw a lot of people commenting on missing things along the NSW coast. Obviously if you only have a certain amount of time or money (or both) you can’t see everything. It seems like you are doing capital city’s and secondary touristy spots, which is good for people to see, and leaves you so much to see for your next trip. Just saying, you did miss one of the main “big things” with the Big Pineapple at Nambour
Hello Tia & Chev welcome to Brisbane and North Queensland where I am living at Yeppoon. If your not in Cairns yet. Palm Cove has a beautiful beach. a trip to Kuranda has a Scenic Railway. The Skyrail Rainforest Cableway offers ocean view gondola rides above a tropical rainforest. Port Douglas is another great location. Loving your Australian journey thank you Tia for your candid thoughts we all feeling like this at times I am not one for crowds also. Take Care enjoy North Queensland you will have a wonderful time. ❤😄😄
Hi guys, I live in Sydney and started watching when you were in Melbourne! I developed panic disorder and agoraphobia coming out of lockdowns so I know exactly how you feel in crowds Tia! Thank you for sharing your experience, it means a lot to know that other people (who are super cool) also struggle with anxiety 😊😊
I have chronic depression and social anxiety disorder so i understand completely. But the wide expanse of the aussie bush is a great calming place thats always available. 💜
It's all systems go from here now that you have visited all major cities in Australia, time to get back to nature and enjoy the sheer beauty of this Country. When in Cairns please do your homework when booking Reef cruises to the islands on the Barrier Reef as prices can vary a bit. I do recommend Green island, you can walk around it if scuba diving is not your thing, great weather here at the moment ,30degs Celcius 👍
I think you guys are wonderful for your respect and enjoyment of cultures. We in Australia are about to go through a brutal and unnecessary debate about sovereignty and respect. I think we can learn a lot from your example. Enjoy!!!
The building named River City with the blue stripe down it is my apartment building (11:27). Brisbane is a great place to live, and this time of year is perfect as it is not boiling hot outside. I hope you enjoyed your time here.

This was really nice. Thank you for writing it 😊
@@OnePackWanderers You're welcome xx
20:21 Tia finally got herself a pair of sunglasses 😎 yay!!!
The most likeable travelling couple currently on UA-cam! Glad to hear you're loving our country!
I hear you Tia. I left Melbourne 6 years ago to live in Albury NSW. I can breathe! Much more relaxed lifestyle 😊
Hello to Singapore 🇸🇬😊
So glad you've enjoyed Brisbane, and welcome. You guys are awesome.
Only just discovered this channel but just loving your down to earth nature and appreciation for the simple things ❤
Hey guys, great v/log..I think it was very brave and moving for Tia to share her vulnerable side..Happy travels
Your videos have such a beautiful, chilled vibe, and you always manage to find positive parts of each place you visit. Your kindness and inclusiveness is just lovely to watch. You have a great relationship and are 100% honorary Aussies for life :) Love the pineapples strapped in!
You guys are our favorite on u-tube. Your happiness shines.
Love both of your smiles 😊. We're happy for you two 😮😊
Seriously you two seem to be sone of the most beautiful people! Chev so supportive & Tia so cute & bubbly! Your humour & relaxed style almost makes me forget you aren’t Aussies. This is the perfect place for you both.
We’re pretty set on settling down here in the next few years, if we can somehow manage it (I know visas get much trickier as you hit 30).
@@AuntyJack123There is an Australian constitution.
Thank you for pronouncing "Brisbane" properly. You truly represent what the majority of humanity can be.
I always watch anxiously in anticipation of our getting a “Tia for scale” moment. ❤️
Welcome to Queensland guys 🌞
Surprised you bypassed the Goldy
I hope you drop into the Sunny Cosst, particularly Noosa 😀
McDonaldised beach resorts( Gold Coast, Noosa Heads ) don't appeal to everyone.
Thanks 🙏 😊
Cheveyo has found a home in Australia, he got somehow the dad energy. Australia is cool
My anxieties so bad there are periods where I rarely go out so getting to experience the world through videos like these are really invaluable.
Hey guys, welcome to my hometown... hope you like it. If you're heading north then there's plenty of open space, bushland and beautiful coastline and mountains for you to enjoy.
It's heart warming listening to you both, I think perhaps you have both found your mojo. 💝
Strapping in the pineapples cassic !
You two are the absolute sweetest people. What a delight watching you travel around.
Beautiful hike! Loved that you strapped in the pineapples! Safety first!
😅
Yep, safety always comes first
if your heading towards Cairns I have a couple recommendations. paronella park and Milla Milla falls
yeessss there's also up in mareeba the emerald creek and david creek, and kuranda soooo good.
Also global-phenomenon Bluey is set here 😉
And yes, places that don't put cars above humans are just, well, better for people.
Wonderful to see you both share your Hearts in Gods Country. Living in the sunny coast hinterland is special. You missed a lot
Of all places I can't believe you ended up in Rainbow :') I grew up there and it's still a hidden gem.
Yea it really was a lot quieter than many of the beach towns in QLD. Our hostel also had $6 pints, which is half the cost of the pints at our hostel in Airlie Beach 😂
@@OnePackWanderers hope you guys enjoy the rest of your Australia trip! 🫶🏼
Struth, it must be great to get away from the city roundabouts when you are out in the bush. ❤❤❤❤
Thank you so much, Paul 😊

Another great video guys. Very proud of you Tia being able to talk about your anxiety and how you are conquering them. I'm so glad you both are enjoying your trip around Australia. I agree when summer comes it would be good to experience more inland. Especially as there has been so much snow in NSW an VIC over the past few days. It's been cold.
One of the highlights of my week waiting for your updated video, love that you're exploring my home state of QLD :) The further North you go the lest crowded it will feel, the pace just slows down and the lifestyle is just so easy going. 🌴🍍🥭☀
Tia you are doing more than I could. I am an introvert with anxiety so people drain my energy.
I have driven past Glasshouse Mountains a hundred time, but you two took me up there, so thanks
Now you’re heading my way. Good time of the year to be coming north. Weather is great. So glad you’re enjoying the open spaces. Keep safe.
Enjoy Brissy! I love how it's winter and you're wearing shirt and shorts 👍 I love it ❤
I have chronic depression and social anxiety disorder so i understand completely.
I am soooo enjoying this series. Thanks for taking us along with you 🤓
I know it goes against the whole concept of spray on stuff but if you spray that sunscreen in your hands first it's much easier to apply.
Nailing the Aussie accent 😂 thanks for sharing your travels and stories with us, Australia would love to keep you here!
