A little bit about red lake-
Upper Red Lake is especially known for its incredible walleye fishing. This expansive lake spans over 120,000 acres, offering ample space for anglers to explore and cast their lines. One of the intriguing aspects of this lake is its relatively shallow nature, with an average depth of around 15 feet. Despite its shallowness, it teems with walleye, making it a prime destination for those seeking this prized catch.
When it comes to fishing for walleye in Upper Red Lake, timing is key. The best seasons for walleye fishing typically fall in early spring and late fall, particularly from late November to mid-January when the ice cover is thick enough to support ice fishing. Anglers often find success by using jigging techniques near the numerous underwater structures, such as reefs and bars, where walleye tend to congregate. Additionally, using live bait like minnows or jigging spoons can significantly improve your chances of a successful catch.
For those planning a trip to Upper Red Lake for walleye fishing, it's essential to check local regulations and ensure you have the necessary fishing licenses. Being prepared for the weather is crucial, especially during the winter months when temperatures can drop significantly. It's advisable to dress in layers and have appropriate gear for ice fishing. Engaging with local guides or experienced anglers can provide invaluable insights into the lake's topography, the best fishing spots, and the most effective techniques for landing those prized walleye.

Is there a public access? Or do I need to get permission from a landowner to park at their house?

Tip for your shack if you have no snow available use your auger or drill auger go outside around your shack and drill some holes but dont drill all the way down, take your shovel and scrape the ice shaving up and place it around your shack, this will help to block wind coming under your skirting. give it try

I close my eyes and start walking 😂😂, if it’s not windy I try to find boulders or some type of ground transition. But since it was so windy today I just went and tried a spot that looked good, it’s one big flat so it’s All the same depth I just wanted to find 9 feet
