I have this. What I love about Marvel Select Abomination (as well as Juggernaut) is that it's an action figure and also a weapon -- you can throw it into the head of a burglar, bully, etc. and you're safe
Marvel Select seems like the perfect balance between premium and durability. Giving it to ur nephews or nieces to play with has higher probability of surviving than giving ur usual premium collectibles like SH Figuarts.
I have fond memories of Marvel Select figures. I gave my son a Red Hulk a Green Hulk and Spider-man for Christmas when he was 1, he just turned 9 today and still has all 3 with the only casualty being Spidey's pinky finger and some slightly loose joints on the Green Hulk. The durability of them was excellent.
I love that marvel select feels like a cool toy that your older brother would own. I remember seeing the marvel zombies ones in a comic shop when i was a kid.
I find these really nostalgic. Reminds me of FYE, Suncoast, and my local comic store and the early early days of figures and collecting. The really detailed sculpt and paint. It was definitely a division between the big box toys and what these are. I really appreciate Diamond regularly reissueing figures. I'm not even sure when that originally released but it's been omnipresent as long as I've been collecting. It's gotta be at nearly 15 years old.
Thanks Anthony. I love it when you view these older figures. It is quite a contrast to the offerings received now. This product (and Marvel Select's Thing) would be very easy to review considering the whole articulation segment could be summed up in one sentence. Yet the sculpt is worthy of the price as it defines the ultimate Abomination action figure on the market today. And still this was created more then a decade ago and it still has more work done to it (save the articulation) then most other modern products.
I agree about Marvel Select having better details most of the time. For all the restrictions they supposedly are confined to contractually, they more than make up in detail and sometimes in accessories. The Juggernaut version of Select still is my favorite. It's like Bowen statue details given a few articulations. This isn't a bad fig to have especially that ML still hasn't updated their Abomination. The last one we got was too short and in desperate need to an update. There was this Video Game baf version that was the right size, but can only pass as a movie version and not a comic book. I suppose Hasbro doesn't really have this character as a priority.
Not a big marvel collector but I’m in for a large beefy figure, I don’t put my figures in crazy poses so I’m not bothered by limited articulation, I got an earlier version of this figure from a few years ago and it came packed out with a base as well as the hulk also.
I grabbed one of these a few years ago, but I only grabbed him for his head. I had built the Marvel Legends Gamerverse Abomination BAF, which I like the body, do not like the head of that game design, so I grabbed the Marvel Select Abomination, did some hollowing out and glued in a new socket, and repainted it to better match the colors of that Gamerverse Abomination. Not accurate to any source material of the character, but I love it.
Got mine from BBTS but his leg was broken off at the waist. Luckily they gave me a full refund, and it’s not a big deal since his hips barely move anyway. Super happy with him.
I've been very tempted by this figure over the years, the Gamerverse Legends version is a lot of fun save for the head sculpt so I've been okay with that version, plus I got it second hand for dead cheap and I don't even think the Select version would fit on that shelf. I started collecting in the late 2000's and here in the UK most of what I collected was 7" figures that looked great but didn't move much; Neca, Marvel Select and DC Collectibles/Direct made up most of my collection, Hasbro didn't creep into my collection until maybe 2015 with Black Series, then 2017 was when I got into Marvel Legends (although as a young child I had some Toybiz figures). Whilst I do really enjoy a lot of Hasbro figures for their articulation and fun factor, it's hard to beat the aesthetic of a lot of those 7" lines, especially Diamond Select. They still feel very old school in a lot of ways, for better or for worse, but I think they get things right more often than they get things wrong. Quite often the worst case scenario is you get a figure that won't move much but will look incredible, their recent Crimson Dynamo looks great on the shelf, I can't wait to get a hold of their upcoming Annihilus, in general a lot of their bigger villain figures make their way into my Marvel Legends display, their comic Thanos (either version) or Ultron are still solid too.
I have the marvel select Juggs and Thanos, they look spectacular, I dont need anything else from them, but it will be so good if they worked on the articulation.
Nice review. He is Abomination not Spiderman/Daredevil so he really doesn't need a lot of possibility and it did look like you got him in a running pose at least. BBTS is out but I ordered one on Aliexpress
Bigger characters like Juggernaut or Abomination scale perfectly with legends, sometimes even better than their legends versions. I hope they will release comic accurate Blob figure one day.
Cool figure for what it is. If I pick I up would probably just end up on the random monster character shelf. Are you going to back the mcfarlane kickstarter medevil spawn? If todd releases all the extra accessories looks like it will be pretty sick.
I'm wondering what the process would be like, and if it's even possible, for DST to go back and add extra articulation on these older figures and do a 2.0 release for some. Again, not sure if it's possible, but I think it'd be neat
I definitely still care a lot about articulation, because I’m the kind of person who cherry-picks specific characters and designs as opposed to collecting lots of figures. Even if I don’t end up posing a figure much, part of my enjoyment of the figure is knowing that I COULD 😜
I *still* wish I could get my hands on their updated Immortal Hulk. Cannot find it anywhere, and on the odd occasion that I do, it’s well over $80 and up.
Nah, I'm too limited on space to buy things on cool factor anymore. Marvel in general I don't have space for so I buy some bishoujos and I bought like 5 Marvel Legends because they were my favorite costumes for those specific characters.
I can appreciate the sculpt and paint, but the dated articulation and weird proportions (I know he's an abomination, so could be any which way), kill it for me. I want my action figures to pose; if not on the shelf then when I take them down to mess about with. I want newer better pose ability, not last decades. Fair play to anyone who just wants a big dramatic statue.
HAHA I thought I somehow hopped on a 10 year old video at first. This is a great figure despite the lack of articulation. Still cheaper than that crappy $60 Cyborg spider woman and the upcoming crappy Hulkbuster.
Always considered this figure the best Abomination. My only gripe with it besides the lack of articulation is his feet, because Abom should have only two toes.

I wish I had jumped on those select zombies when I had a chance.
All of us older brothers have atleast 1 of em 😂💀💯
@@angelguzman3458 I have Juggernaut and he is a hunk of plastic goodness.

I’ve had this guy since he was new and he’s the only Abomination figure I’ve ever needed.
Same. I'm not the biggest Abomination fan, but grabbed this one years ago and have never wanted any other version to fill his role, lol

He can stand menacingly and hold a figure's head in his hand. He has filled that role very well for years.

He looks awesome and would definitely pick something like this up despite the limited articulation

They legally can't work on the articulation
@capybara455 yeah, I have heard that, I though they where only allowed to do 7 inch figures. Is the articulation restriction real?
@@Ma-Sa-666 yes I think so

Great video always get excited when you post a review
I got this guy just about ten years ago and he's still a beast. Mine however doesn't have any of the brown dry brushing but still badass.
man i love the sculpt of the select figs. just sucks that they don’t scale that well with legends.
Bigger characters like Juggernaut or Abomination scale perfectly with legends, sometimes even better than their legends versions. I hope they will release comic accurate Blob figure one day.
@@magicmirror8627I agree. I like the height of MS abom and juggernaut against my legends.
Ye I like neca and diamond select. Some figures I have for posing some more for the visual
Got this guy at a con few years back, surprisingly i kept him in the mega jumbo box.

I will not be backing

Oh this one is such a gem. Menacing, weighty, and downright gorgeous.
One of my own old favorites im hunting one now
Hopefully Diamond Select updates the abomination with just at least a diaphragm joint.
This is the only Abomination in my ML Collection. If DS ever re-engineers this character, I will definitely be on board for a replacement.
Yes! Thank you, Anthony, been waiting for this review for a long time

Can you please do a compilation of all the Darwin photos you’ve taken at the end of the year? I love them
I remember spotting this at a BZ Toy Zone or whatever they call it, this as well as Juggernaut are perfect in weight-lifting for beginners
I love figures like this, not everything needs to have excessive articulation
Nah, I'm too limited on space to buy things on cool factor anymore. Marvel in general I don't have space for so I buy some bishoujos and I bought like 5 Marvel Legends because they were my favorite costumes for those specific characters.
They need to update a lot of their figures
Please review the Marvel Select Spiderman Gameverse
Great review, I wonder why they gave this figure even less articulation than their Juggernaut.
If it looks great, I'll buy it. I own the Marvel Select Juggernaut, and it's one of my favourite figures.
I wish they still made figures this and their Juggernaut
Temped to get this guy a few times... How hard would it be for Hasbro to make a good one lol.
Hi anthony can you review MS Psylocke as well? 😊
If you put the Select Abomination head on the Gamerverse Abomination BAF body you have the PERFECT. Abomination figure
Bought This Guy As Soon As He Went Under $30 Last Year. My Son Wouldn't Let This Guy Pass Once He Saw Him LOL
Nice revisit review
As the saying goes, you can’t put lipstick on a big. A crappy figure will look crappy no matter what pose you put it in.
perfect for marvel collectors who put all their toys in an A stance on the shelf
Please review the old 'Pitt' Build a Figure one day
Didn't ever get one. Costs too much now
QOTD: Yes. I'm an In Box collector.
I can appreciate the sculpt and paint, but the dated articulation and weird proportions (I know he's an abomination, so could be any which way), kill it for me.

0:50 come on now 😭
I have it and is a cool figure!!!
Wow I had a double take of this cause of how old the figure is.
HAHA I thought I somehow hopped on a 10 year old video at first. This is a great figure despite the lack of articulation. Still cheaper than that crappy $60 Cyborg spider woman and the upcoming crappy Hulkbuster.
Kotd: yeah but i don’t like the sculpt of this one. The musculature looks a bit juvenile
I want them to rerelease the marvel select ultimate venom sooooo bad
Hell yeah! That's a good one
Always considered this figure the best Abomination. My only gripe with it besides the lack of articulation is his feet, because Abom should have only two toes.
I forgot he didn't have fist
Back when toy companies actually cared about sculpt and paint instead of how cheap you can go with maximum profit 😢
Hulk videos 🙏🏻
I quit buying weights and started buying this guy instead because he’s cheaper per pound lol
That's probably true actually
Nah, I can't work with that.
How's the articulation? 🤔 Lol
Marvel Select puts Marvel Hasbro to shame.
🫡
WRONG FEET! Abomination has two toed feet. Why are they wrong?
Yo this a 15year old figure
yes
