when they rerelease their figures way later they sometimes change the paint, by making it more brighter or pop more, thats what they mean that the image might be slightly different than whats in the packaging. For instance I got an armored Thor figure years later when they rereleased it and the colors were brighter and more appealing than the original release.
Great review on an awesome product. As an adult collector, I like to place my products in a diorama for display. I am also a huge Marvel comic book character action figure collector. Often collectors confuse the Marvel offerings from Diamond with Hasbro's. This isn't particularly fair as the information I have gathered stipulates that the contract with Marvel prohibits Diamond Select from fully articulating their action figure sculpts. Conclusively, more attention is dedicated to sculpt and detail. Diamond Select is also restricted to the 7 inch scale resulting in a lot larger Marvel character selection. This works for Diamond Select on such figures as the Abomination. With a pretty extensive Diamond Marvel collection I can state that I place a premium on value for my money. I do not want something that looks like a bath toy, I am interested in the art. If you are interested in expanding your Diamond collection may I recommend; Juggernaut, Rulk, Immortal Hulk, Planet (Gladiator) Hulk, Silver Centurion, Rhino, Venom, Carnage, Titanium Man, Taskmaster and the Human Torch.
Diamond select makes great statues, and they occasionally put joints on them. Their statues are actually great, and their figures look really good, but can't do much.
don’t collect marvel select, but i’ve seen pictures/vidoes of the red hulk, human torch, beta ray bill, and the destroyer you should check those out and they actually can pose pretty well. but ik marvel select really prioritizes sculpt over articulation
Selects has some real awesome figures, the ones I suggest are the newer figures from them such as Red Hulk, Green Hulk, Silver Centurion Iron Man, Beta Ray Bill. For a definitive classic Taskmaster the Selects can't be beat, plenty of accessories, amazing details and decent articulation. The most imposing of them would have to be Juggernaut, he has spectacular detail and just a monster of a figure. Limited articulation like Abomination but a great presence on a shelf!
I almost dipped my toe into Diamond Select when I saw on BBTS they were doing Van Damme from Bloodsport and thought I should get it cuz Van Damme, obviously. But canceled the pre-order when I heard Diamond Select can be dodgey with sculpts and articulation, so figured I'd wait for some in hand review cuz who doesn't need a Van Damme in their collection.
I dont normally get action figures, only exception is neca turtle stuff, they hide the joints well enough. But statues, diamond selects my favorite, not everything’s a hit, but the majority of the stuff looks really good, and they’re basically the only ones who make statues im happy with at a price point i can afford.
Marvel select makes great figures for the price, usually come with amazing diorama pieces or a nice stand. I personally try and stay in the 1/12 zone, besides hot toys, and these don’t scale with say Marvel legends. That being said big character like abomination or hulk, juggernaut u can fit In because who cares if they are huge. And I usually prefer the selects versions of bigger guys. This abomination is one I use in my legends display.
I don’t own many DS figures, but I do like the handful that I own. They have some nice sculpts and paint and are usually priced nicely. The downsides often are limited articulation range and a scale that doesn’t match well with other brands. Large figures like this guy, though, are supposed to be huge anyway, so they fit well with stuff from other manufacturers.
I have him and love it. Much better sculp than anything hasbro put out. Sure it’s not as articulated but he not gonna do any spider man poses. Just stand there and being a monster
I love these beefy Marvel Selects figures. I have Immortal Hulk, Red Hulk, Colossus, Juggernaut, Apocalypse and him. With their size they scale well with Marvel Legends.
I have a few Diamond Select figures. The packageing is always absurdly oversized. Not sure how in box diamond select collectors manage it. yeah they can be statues. But that seems to be perfectly fine for all the comic shops that carry them. They look good for the price. I used the diamond select Ultron for years with my marvel legends, just having a giant robot threat, and its only recently that Hasbro produced the classic look anyway. The most articulated diamond stuff I've had was the Iron Giant, and Rocketeer.
Diamond Select stuff can be a mixed bag at times. Great presence for the larger characters but not as articulated as compared to a few other counterpart figures that exist. Most of the non-MCU Marvel figures have also been around for over a decade and simply get re-released instead of creating new moulds. Probably why they remain as cheap as they are. On the other hand, sometimes they're the only people that create figures for certain franchises. I picked up some of their Invincible figures and they're pretty alright.
This is n older Marvel Select figure. The articulation has improved significantly these days. If you can, review the recent Immortal Hulk, and you'll see a ton of difference with regards to articulation.
Diamond select articulation is always sub par compared to Hasbro. They're also a wonky scale, slightly larger. I heard from someone once, so you know it's absolutely accurate, that it's in part to copywite laws.... Iono
Size, weight and robustness are precisely the characteristics that make up the difference that makes Diamond Marvel Select articulated figures relevant. Its more limited articulations than those of Marvel Legends, for me, are much less important in the balance.
Diamond select action figures are "Hit or Miss" for me. I have an Original Blue Costume Ghost Rider Diamond select action figure that looks incredible with lots of detailing on the base. I shouldn't have any complaints about it, but there is one small infamous problem with the figure..... It cannot stand it on the base with the peg holes. This is a well known problem that whoever sculpted this figure accidentally made the base impossible to connect the peg holes into Ghost Rider's boots. Another Diamond select figure I bought was Moon Knight based on his 2006 comic book appearance drawn by David Finch...... and it's awful. It looks horrible. Like they took the weakest drawing of David Finch's art (I'm a big enough Moon Knight fan that I can name the exact drawing they used for inspiration) and then somehow managed to butcher it even more. David Finch is an incredible artist who has done hundreds of great Moon Knight art to choose from. But this particular drawing is for a tiny single panel and he likely only spent an hour drawing it. I only really bought it for the Khonshu statue that comes included and to just complete my collection of Moon Knight stuff. .....And then after the Moon Knight TV series came out, Diamond Select decided to release a lazy recoloring of the old Diamond Select Moon Knight figure to match the color pallet of the TV series costume.... freakin' cool. It comes with a new base, so at least that's something.
Man, that Finch version sounds pretty bad. A local store has some random figures available so I took a peak and it seems like big figures and masked or non-human faces are all pretty great
I ordered the spider-man that was on that booklet you show us in this video and when i got him i was so upset. He looks nothing like he does in the picture, 👎
Bad posing. But he looks great, and can get him looking good in a display. Maybe having a test of strength with Hulk, or a little tac on hands and have him holding a smaller figure by the neck. But still most accurate looking and sized Abomination in my opinion for my ML display
Had this figure ages ago. It looks amazing, but just can't be posed much, but he's still the best looking Abomination out there.
Yeah I can see that. Certainly solid
He looks like a cross between The Incredible Hulk and Swamp Thing!🙄🤨🤔👍
Haha yeah!

Very interesting

Great version 👌💯
Not bad!

Yeah, seems to be how most people feel. That’s a bummer!
If you’d consider another diamond select I highly recommend human torch, red hulk, or iron giant
Iron Giant would be number 1 for me! Thank you
I think he is great he’s gonna be my abomination thanks for the review
Thank you for watching! He’s a great price and even better size. They just announced an Iron Giant with metallic finish, btw
@@NostalgiaUnboxed oh wow I wanted the iron giant but never got him definitely getting the metallic finish one

And they put bandages on his hands which is wrong!! (If I’m remembering correctly)
@@NostalgiaUnboxed Yes! But the rage face is a nice touch 🤌 I'm torn. Hopefully in hand reviews sell me on it

Yeah, I saw that new Van Damme statue and can’t believe the price point! So good for that price
I used to own diamond select abomination, and I LOVED IT!
Loved him so much you got rid of him! Haha. Just kidding!

Yeah, that’s good to hear. That was my hope with their big guys
You won't get a huge figure from ML without paying a bunch. All my bigger characters are MS. ML does make the big boys big enough.
Yeah, and Hasbro is just often disappointing for the price anymore
Not much but I have been really enjoying the videos, Thanks!
Aw, man. That’s so incredibly kind of you! Thank you so much! It’s more than you needed to do!
Usually their larger scale characters are better than their human size characters.
That’s good to know! Thank you

diamond selects regular figs are meh, but for what ever reason their larger figs are outstanding.
Thank you! I’ll see if I can grab one!
