- So what happens to hyenas when battling against lions? You might only see hyenas as carcass scavengers, but these extremely intelligent predators will not let lions push them around when it comes down to their spoils. Nature of the Beast is our new digital-exclusive series that unlocks the secrets of life in the wild and provides an inside look at following and filming hyenas, lions, wild dogs, and leopards in South Luangwa National Park in Zambia.

What do you think of hyenas so far?
Still hate them 🤷♂️🤷♂️
@@gibsonawuku2710 I hate them fuckers as well and always will!
They eat alive animals which is brutal
haha not exactly the reaction I was hoping for but glad to start the conversation!
I hate Hyenas !! They are dirty filthy animals. I love Cheetahs, Lions, and Leopards.
Nice film making, but excessive footage of Julz. The voice is enough.
Far too much narration here.
Agreed. Do not insert yourself too much into the story. The animals, not you, are the protagonist(s).
He want to be seen to much

@@garryjones7893 and yet it was his film that we watched. You just seem like an idiot.
Good documentary just too much talking and showing himself
lol you're annoyed by someone's passion for wildlife? Please @curtis @marque point me to your channels so I can weigh in. Your voices call for the Mute button.
@@SuraneMEDIA no he’s just annoyed that every five seconds the narrators face appears for no reason and spoils the flow of the film.
Good efforts for the wild life video. But people are more interested to see animals instead of a manly face every 5 seconds. Please note to avoid personal portray when depicting wild life. Bad idea!
I don’t agree at all
Wrong again Kashif
I definitely agree with this, i wont subscribe this kind of channel 😁
You learn a lot about beautiful hyenas. But I would prefer to watch the hyenas.♥️
I really like the way you explain everything in detail. You seem to love what you’re doing, and have a rare talent for encouragement.
There’s plenty of other nature videos if some people don’t like that sort of thing. Thanks for sharing! 😀
Awesome video buddy!!!!
Yeah, I have to agree he doesn't need to show himself! He just needs to narrate!
Lmao true bigass head
Yall are real mean no one cares
Agree, he cute, but there too much of him, he doesn’t need to keep showing himself
You start to get the urge to want to smack him.
@@horsesmakeeverythingbetter850 him. Think you should look at the likes, a whole lot care.
These hyenas made me laugh, I laugh at their voices, and for the first time I see hyenas meeting each other, haha😂
I watched an old documentary that showed a lot of African lions were hunted (mostly for sport by foreigners), and their numbers were severely dwindled. In The Gambia, nearly ‘ALL’ of the lions were wiped out. But the hyena population was left intact. This created a great imbalance between these two predators. That’s why on so many wildlife videos you see a great disparity in numbers between lions and hyenas, where hyenas seem to outnumber lions 20 to 1. This has made hyenas more emboldened in their interactions with lions, as clans of hyenas will try to intimidate lionesses, chase them from their food, and kill their cubs. When the population of predators were more balanced, lions and hyenas respected each other’s territories more. But thanks to decades of trophy hunting of lions by mostly western countries, the lion population will never be rightfully balanced against hyenas. I was made aware of this after watching that documentary. It was very sad. Beautiful, full grown male lions being shot to death for f*cking sport. While hyenas were left untouched. I guess hyenas don’t look as well on their walls. They should not kill the hyenas. But they should not have killed the lions either! I think unknowingly, this is why so many people hate hyenas and like lions. They see the obvious imbalance in their numbers. And it was unnaturally created by these bastard hunters/killers. So until the numbers are more balanced, I don’t think people will warn up to hyenas. There’s just too many of them! And this condition was created by man, not nature!
I have never put what you posted into perspective, but it makes sense. If I had a gun and I saw someone getting ready to shoot a lion I think I would blow them away. Hunters want to shoot the biggest, strongest male lions. The ones, who with their mere presence will intimidate hyenas and keep hyenas away. I don't like hyenas, they are pretty bad ass in their right. But if faced with a couple of male lions who head a pride, they generally will not even bother as it doesn't take much for a big powerful male to kill a hyena. I remember watching a documentary narrated by Powers Booth from 1992 and one of the male's who headed the pride name meant he who greets with fire. If I remembered how to spell it, I would post it. Twice this male killed the reigning matriarch of the same hyena clan. The hyenas recognized this lion by sight and new to get out of dodge if he was around. The first matriarch he killed, he caught off guard as the hyena were feeding on a baby zebra, the second one he killed was actually very emboldened and was following his brother around and scent marking against him. Well Ntchwaidumela heard the hyena and unlike his brother he immediately went after and caught the hyena and killed it. That his name Ntchwaidumela, he who greets with fire, for he is the hyena killer. Well it was documented that Ntchwaidumela was shot and killed for sport. That's a shame.
They should be taking out hyenas, wild dogs and snakes cuz they are all disgusting.
@@madwolfwolfpack6111 you want to kill all packs of wild dogs ? and your name is madwolf wolfpack ? you should leave the mad and change the rest of your name to bi-polar it would suit your personality better.
@@nosey3972 I actually agree, but can we chill with the bi-polar comment.
It’s an actual disorder not just an insult to throw at people.
Entwadamalia, is what I remember the male lions name as. I most likely spelt it wrong.
Thanks for showing interesting wildlife
You too!
@@julzbraatvedt Good work, I love the wilderness💛
Hyena pups are so cute.
Hyneas laugh so MUCH IS LIKE THERE LAUGHING IN A JOKE
Yes, that she it eating grin is unmistakable ;-)
They are all beautiful animals and they all take meals from others because that's part of life .Most of the time they catch their own.
Finally someone who isn’t biased and shares the story from everyones side
Huh????
Good video
I believe this is the 4th time I have watched this, good video
wow thanks so much! Really appreciate that :)
Loved the video thanks
awesome!!
You are so fortunate to be able to observe these creatures in person in their natural habitats!
Wait untill they eat him alive.
This would've been a great Documentary if it weren't for the Cameraman / Narrator constantly appearing on screen.
Julz has dedicated his life to show & promote understanding of nature & contribute to conservation. His sincerity & enthusiasm shines through. I like his presentation as it is. Even if he changes a bit, I'm sure I'll still want to watch. Keep it up Julz!
Wow thanks for your touching comment! Appreciate it:)
I agree with your post.. Very well spoken about this documentary & especially Julz & Neil. 3rd time I have watched it. I love all he does. African Painted Dogs are my #1 favorite wild animal. And he is my #1 presenter of them. Again I think this is a great documentary. Keep up the hard work ,Julz Neil and Love Nature. May God continue to bless you all and your family ALWAYS! And also ALL of you watching!
Julz we need more animal hunting scenes, leopards and lions, please
This could've been a good documentary, you have a nice voice for narrating but you ruin it by being in front of the camera waaaaaaaaay too often. We wanna see wildlife not the narrator. This is just too annoying, thumbs down.
Sorry you didn't enjoy it! Thanks for trying anyway
The lion using their truck for shade was the coolest thing ever 🤙
Change the caption, what happen to hyenas wHen battling the narrator? of exposure? Lolz
Please keep the camera on the animals while talking
Mate, it's great that you narrate the show and you know about the animals, but just talk while filming the animals and not film yourself.
Cheers for watching
I don't like documentaries where the host just HAS to be on camera. SO distracting! The best docs are the ones that ONLY show their subjects!
absolutely yes.
I agree
Sorry guys! There are lots of other videos on the Love Nature channel without a host so make sure to check them out!
I agree
@@julzbraatvedt ok
Stop showing yourself so much in your videos. We want to see the animals.
Quit being antisocial.
True that
Great video. I like hyenas now.
That's amazing:) so stoked
Man this dude talk too much..... Too much of him and not enough animals
Otherwise message would not be spread. 🤝
Hahaha
Ah, you are on the screen more than the animals in the title of the video.
Why do some cinematographers feel the need to be on camera? I want to see nature not them. Do a voice over!
thanks for the feedback Mike - we were trying something new with this series. Check out lots of the other videos on Love Nature- no cinematographers on camera!
Seems like I'm not the only one .lolol...I love nature I'd leave my home right now to be in Thier... But just as much luxury watching hours on hours on all animals.
Why do ungrateful people always complain about everything. Go and make your own documentary then.
definitely agree with you ! It's disturbing to keep seeing that guy on the video!
@@ashdog236 lol..always an idiot with a very low vocabulary to add to an existing comment that has nothing to do with them lolol.. To respond to your comment it's not about me or anyone having or making the choice to do their job as a producer hahahha but it's up to the viewers to comment and communication within the original comment in thought which was to much editing on himself on stead of the advertised production which was wild life - Not ratings for his video on himself .. now Mr troll I'd suggest maybe thinking outside the box before making a fool outta yourself next time ....
Julz, I don't have the love afair that you have with these beasts, however, I do like the fact that, besides the vultures, they do clean up their mess after dinner.
Thanks Don! I like that too :)
Naaah bro, you can’t convince me that Hyenas aren’t the filthy poachers they are. Hyenas are the rodents/cockroaches of the desert. IMO!!
😂😂iknowws
Only humans are poachers. Hyenas, on the other hand, are wild animals trying to survive.
This guy has won me over..I take back any bad thing I said. You can tell he is passionate and loves what he does. Great energy from him as well..and knowledgeable. Cheers !
I prefer lions more, they are beautiful, strong, intelligent & majestic. 😊💜🌸🦁
Technically, the hyena is more intelligent.
I have studied African wildlife for a long time, and I will probably never get over my disgust with hyenas. They just are not very likeable creatures. They fight amongst themselves and they’re just disgusting, and loud
Basically any predator?
I enjoyed the documentary and the education you provided
Would have been a good video if u didn't keep interrupting with your picture. Its supposed to be about the animals, not you.
Awesome and clear presentation, great work. Thank you muchly.
And thank you for watching!

Personal I still think all the bad impressions about hyenas are true. It did not receive its bad reputations that it has for nothing at all. There are reasons why it has such negative thoughts in most people's imagining images, ideas, and thoughts
I thought this was supposed 2 be a video about lions battling hyenas what happened!!!!!!
Same.

I like any animals, thanks for videos
Great documentary 😉
he seems more into himself than the animals
A bit yes
This was so entertaining😄 I literally watched the whole thing😆
I think that’s the whole point of uploading the whole thing lol

Lost interest after 5 mins, too much camera going back to yourself instead of narrating while showing the animals😕
So true, this dude messed up this whole documentary.
sorry you guys feel that way

Very good video I can honestly say I view these hyenas differently now. I still love the lions 🦁 a lot more but u showed me a different side of the hyenas that I have never seen & they are truly special animals. Thx for all ur hard wrk without people like ur self we wouldn’t know so much about these special animals 🙏🏼

I validated that the next dawn , Crazy wild stuff , Love your enthusiasm as it’s how I have been and when not it’s like your dead , Take care , Kevin Standow
This is good to introduce children to many of the predatorial "cycle of life" activities, so hard for me to judge, as Im an adult and enjoy to watch uncensored & unbiased documentaries but again I do see the value in it for a very particular age demographic.👍
Well, to me hyenas look cute when they're babies. Pups. When it comes to hyenas, there are 2 things that speak volume to me. 1. Those bone breaking jaws. 2. That laugh.
Awesome! Yeah they don't look as "cute" as they get older haha
This guy is more interested in posing than the wild life
You were obviously paying more attention to looking at Julz than the 98% of animal footage in this video then.
I Caleb I came up I only eat I like your videos
is this a wildlife video or a lecture by some guy?
Maybe a bit of both haha!
Why can’t I stop watching lion documentaries?
Edge... Is that you?
Sir it's basically yourself that sold me to subscribe. Your experience and excipient and the humor in your voice a has brought laughter and thank you

Some advice, I did not enjoy the film always showing your face and leaving the actual wild life. No offence but you could have done a better job with the editing. I want to see the wild life not your face all the time.
thanks for the feedback
I like the hyenas
Hold on guys, the narrator is part the wildlife. No wonder he is appearing after every 30 seconds
Haha thanks!
Thus great
Pretty widely known lions DO NOT ENJOY EATING HYENAS and rarely do so. Highly doubtful two hyena cubs would make a nice snack for any lions, but fingers crossed they make a couple exceptions. After all, hyenas don’t hesitate if lion cubs are available and should reap what they sew.
👍🏽 رائع ❤️🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹
Super b
I came to see hyenas being eating by lions
😂😂😂
Less talk more animals 😉
Next Jules will tell us the natural benefit ticks bring to our world!Off to study birds! :)
Every animal has a role in nature.
Next time don't show yourself, we are just interested with wild animals and your voice
I open a grocery store for the predators
This guy has a smile in whole video except when a prey was killed by some predators
yeah although I respect the need for predators to kill prey I don't enjoy watching it happen
I'm appreciate the fact he appreciates hyenas there my favorite this video makes me happy
I liked your documentary. But i have to say that your are interrupting the flow of video by coming in between I think its better to narrate behind the camera.
Its confusing
A lion can be beaten by group of hyena
And also a leopard can be beaten out by a single hyena
Group of Hyenas can be beaten out by group of wild dogs🍃
Just one animal which can fight with everyone without fear is "Tiger" thats why I love them just because of bravery and passion of killing its enemies
Thats a really good observation Shaabi!
Never seen a really good video about tigers...why is that?

Errrr.....Why does such an interesting documentary by Julz keep being interrupted by crappy video of animals?.....
I really enjoy nature programmes but this was very disappointing the narrator should be just speaking not keep showing himself speaking about the animals.
I became very bored so I stopped watching.
True... But... then we wouldn't see how cute his is
True, but I can feel him, his picture quality is very good, he must have paid a fortune to buy that kind of equipment, flying to Africa is the most expensive trip out there, the hotels and the renting of the cars and all the cost he incurs just so you can enjoy that video for free. Come on guys now, are you serious!? Stop developing a bad freebies entitlement attitude, just be thankful that he puts himself through all that unnecessary pain so just you can enjoy in your living room these nice videos.
