The Avi show was probably the best show I have heard you do. The production after recording and adding in trippy music when guests are taking is amazing. I listened to coast coast to coast art bell as a teen and would fall asleep. I don't know what niche this is, but the topics align w my adult interests and its incredible to fall asleep too. I mean this very genuinely great content also, I know im listening to real experts

Good ear folks. I listened to Art pretty much every night back in the 90's and early 2000's and fell asleep to coast. Obviously that was a major influence in how I do these interviews. RIP Art Bell.

If you found a 5x Earth mass frozen burrito, it would still go bad and be inedible, even frozen near absolute zero, it would degrade in the horrible radiation present in interstellar space, after billions of years. So it would do you no good. Might as well hope for a black hole, that would at least be useful.
Due to the scarcity of frozen burritos in the deluxe range you mention, I tend to go for the synthetic option, -Magic Mushrooms. It’s kind of like a wormhole approach(maybe, quite literally). I write short Sci Fi as a hobby. I listen to UA-cam, mostly, while I work. Love coming back to this channel it gives me ideas. Already I am thinking about a Deep Horizons flyby of a frozen world in 2037 but since my year 2100 astronauts can't land on a super massive planet I will need to increase its diameter and give it a moon. The moon will show signs of possible intelligent life on the original flyby. That's where the story really begins. Dunt Dunt Da!

It absolutely is not, the paper was released yesterday: Injection of Inner Oort Cloud Objects Into the Distant Kuiper Belt by Planet Nine by Konstantin Batygin and Michael E. Brown arxiv.org/pdf/2104.05799.pdf
What about the newspaper articles in the 1980's where they stated that an object was on it's way inbound and we would see it in about 25 years or so? What happened to that object?
I’m surprised we didn’t discuss the possibility of P9 being a brown dwarf - unless that’s an idea that’s been so thoroughly discounted I’m a dope for even still thinking about it.
If this estimate of 5x earth mass is close even to within a couple orders of magnitude, then the mass is no where near enough to be a brown dwarf. Lower limit on mass of a drown dwarfs is about 3000 earth masses.
If it was discovered how many years would it take before we flew a probe out to check it out hopefully they would start work on one at the point of discovery, we can only hope ......
If 'planet 9' exists there is another option - it could be a captured rogue planet. Although the dynamics of capturing an independent body make that unlikely current estimates suggest interstellar space contains at least as many such bodies as star systems.
There seems to be significant speculation that our solar system is passing through the region of space in which a super nova once occurred. If that's correct, it seems to me the chance that planet nine was captured just rose dramatically
Would it not make sense if there was a collision (ancient time) and it got bumped into a intersecting orbit. The oort cloud rubble would make sense if it was a planet that crashed into one of the satellites, or similar. Its described by several ancient civilizations that had no interaction. (Tiamat, is one Name for it) What speaks of that it exists is that its actually listed in Nasas catalogue of celestial objects. Its listed as a small solar system.. and I’m pretty sure they don’t list fantasies...
who said the simplest, elegant solution is usually right? maybe I look at the evidence with a bias, but a large distant body sure is an elegant explanation for our observations of the outer solar system
I wonder if anyone ever calculated for the possibility that the outer planets are perturbed from our perspective because of the same gravitational lensing effect like we observe in Mercury but instead of it being high gravity like Mercury, it's lower gravity. Like looking down a hot road in the summer and the gravitational waves ripple our view when looking across it. Like the difference in the rate, for lack of a better term, is what's causing them to look like they're in a place that they're actually not and that could explain why they never seem to be where we expect them to be.

I think that the real reason that Pluto was re designated as a dwarf planet was to stop planet 9 being called "Planet X"
It is easier to say Planet 9 versus Planet IX.
Or because it's a binary dwarf-planet, part of a new class we weren't aware at the time we started calling them planets, eons ago.

Like the difference in the rate, for lack of a better term, is what's causing them to look like they're in a place that they're actually not and that could explain why they never seem to be where we expect them to be.
If some variation of this was the case, New Horizons would've never made it to Pluto.
