Something about the floyd rose bridges resonate and aid string bend feedback over a hardtail. They really do feel different while playing even without using the trem
Mick Thomson does the same with his floyd rose/tremolo style guitars. He said he loves the feel of the floyd but doesn't like the maintanence of them or that he doesn't use floyds too often. I'm in the same boat. I love the feel of a floyd rose and also love the tuning stability of a double locking system. I agree
Yep that's where I first saw it was possible to hathatbridge that didn't move when I started playing guitar! Back when he was with Ibanez and had those red and black models
I think a good Segway from a fixed bridge to a double locking setup would be a decked flyod. A decked flyod definitely gets you into the mechanics of a double locking system without the instability of a full floating setup.
Good video. Subscribed. I think I prefer the feel of a Floyd (not blocked), but the non-headaches of fixed bridge. I like the feel of a Floyd under the palm, but also the springs "fighting" bends a little bit. If you want to block your Floyd/Edge, there are always things like trem stoppers. Many variants of those are available. Granted, you will have to drill/screw into your guitar with most of those.
Definitely, a non-blocked floyd feels springy yet stable. A trem stopper is great and I have a few, but these days I just tape together the right amount of guitar picks and it works pretty well too
I prefer Tune O matic bridges. But I did just buy a guitar with floyd, it's my first guitar with a trem. It needs some tlc before it's playable tho. Wish me luck!!
Any plans on doing a review of the Axion Label S? I didn't know it was in production, the specs are pretty wild. I splurged on a J. Custom, but I really want a guitar with EMGs and that one seems like a good candidate for some pickup surgery.
Plans, yes. I want to get to it eventually and give it a proper setup. It has the wizard 3 neck as far as I can feel which isn't my favorite but it's not horrible. Oh, I was thinking of doing an emg swap too! Except on the rg5121 instead. Maybe emg 57/66 or 81/60
Nice video!🔥 I’ve had the same ibanez 5320 with tremolo. Great guitar excluding the tremolo😅 There was a lot of suffer for me. I’ll never buy the guitar with tremolo again 🤷🏻
@SonegPanasoneg guitar picks! I taped together several of them and put them between the trem block and body. Easy to put in and remove and it doesn't damage the guitar
I'm curious as the to the advantages of dive only Floyd's. In practice. Like I get off a string brakes or you can use a de-tuna. I just don't get the point in playing terms. I love floating vibrato systems and it would weird me out hearing/feeling a clunk when pulling up
For standard, try the Yngwie Malmsteen Signature Strings. .008 and 46. Enough tension on the lower strings, and buttery smooth on the high. As a bonus, they seemingly never break. Very elastic. I was skeptical about .008 at first, but now I'm a firm believer. Compare a normal set of 08/38 with Yngwie's set of 08/46 on a string tension calculator. I like that curve!
tbh u deserve way more subs ur content is so much better than most creators
Thanks, I appreciate that!

Definitely, bending against the equilibrium springs gives a different feel and experience

Hardtail crew where we at!?
Gotta love the simplicity!

Hardtail is the hardcore.
Floating bridges traumatized me for life, but I do love the whammy bar. The struggle
A challenge to set up but the tricks that can be done are pretty cool!
Still waiting for the EverTune tremolo here...
Glad to know I'm not alone in this.

@@HighZ Yeah and like you said in the video, you don't have to modify your guitar when using something like picks.

I’ve always wondered
How many guitars do you own?
And how do you store them?
R u not afraid of neck warping or rust or other degenerative things ?
I might do a video on the collection in the next few months maybe!
Nice video!🔥

Bummer that the tremolo didn't work out. They can be very tricky to set up and use and a big headache if you don't need it that often!
@@HighZ U’re right))) By the way, how did u lock the trem on that ibanez?

Other certainly would be useful but as you say, it would feel limiting to use if you're used to a full floating one
One "negative" of the double locking is string tension. Standard 440 is so much more difficult to bend. Thoughts?
I guess it slightly does. The first thing I think of when I think more difficult bends is an evertune
I honestly over bend it I'm playing a fixed bridge. I'm just used to it. I figure it out fast but I'm used to the way a floating bridge reacts

Fixed bridge all the way. I have a jackson v with a floyd and i barely play it because the floyd is such a pain.
I know what you mean. Sometimes you just need something simple that's easy to tune or enjoy after a long day
If it doesn't have a locking trem I don't want it the less I have to tune the happier i am.
