Great stuff. I quit the railway during Covid. No regrets. I did work on the Watercress Line and the Bluebell Line over the years so I did experience a little bit of steam, even if it was run by enthusiasts. Happy days.
Very colorful and beautiful engines. Nothing quite like watching steam trains from any country doing their thing. Modern engines may be more powerful and cost effective, but theirs something magical about veiwing steam engines.
Trevor Ledgeway Dear Trevor, Thank you for posting these fantastic films, really excellent. I live about 200 yards from where the rail station at Milnathort used to be. I'm searching for photos and film of the rail station, but they seem to be very thin on the ground. I have a few photos, but no film whatsoever. I was wondering if you were aware of any films that have been taken of Milnathort rail station. I'd be very grateful for any information you might have. I look forward to watching more of your films, thank you again. Best wishes, Kevin Kevin Heneghan
Thanks so much for this Mr Ledgeway - I'm an (old!) Scot exiled in Yorkshire - studying the Oban and Callander - This brings tears to my eyes Have a Great 2015 Jim
The old G&SW was a gey grand Railway, did I hear correctly that Derek Cross lived at Maybole, could someone confirm that or no please. David L Smith wrote some lovely Books about the old Line. Thank you for sharing.
I wonder what scenes Ivo could produce with today's cameras. I think he would be our best railway photographer since he worked in both movie and still mediums.
Unmistakably beautiful that Caledonian Single @0:40 🏴 @5:03 is! As a boy I had fond memories of reading Classic Steam by Ivo Peters at my public library. @10:05 Now why’d they give Ivo a hard time getting footage? 😂
I used to live in Paisley next to the main line from Glasgow, we would wait for a train to go under the footbridge then run through the smoke, happy days... not happy mothers though!
I imagine the driver of Gordon Highlander is saying "let's make them work for their shots" and in the process gave them one of the most tremendous with their sheep field run.
No protection whatsoever for the footplate crew. Enjoyed the footage at Callander where I used to live. This must be the early 60's. I remember a double-header: 123 and Glen Douglas stopping at Callander with an enthusiasts special around then.
Snow like that in April! A railway historian I know once informed me he believes a Duchess once got to Callander. I have seen no proof of this however.
What a fantastic video, I must look out for these dvd's. Thanks for putting this one up. For years as a kid I regularly visited the Scottish quartet in the old Glasgow museum in Coplawhill tram works, wondering what they would have looked like if restored to their mainline condition.
The shot of the Jones Goods and Gordon Highlander taking off from Dalrymple is absolutely fantastic.
Caledonian, the most beautiful of all liveries.
I’d vote for Marsh Umber or GER blue, but the Caledonian livery is pretty good.
Thank you ... Marvellous. So enjoyed watching and listening.
Thanks Robert..Glad you liked it...Cheers Trevor.
Brilliant camera work. Great commentary by P W. Thanks for posting
An excellent film , I know all of these locations , some now , sadly , closed .
It would seem my namesake was somewhat as fast a driver as I am !

😎
A small correction. The photographer's name is "Ivo Peters" not Ivor Peters.
That scene when the Loco's ran away from him was so funny, I just couln'd help but laugh.

Ivo.
They did well to travel the roads in snow to capture the steam train shots.
Pure nostalgia 👍

I do hope they are restored at some point, but unfortunately the days of their mainline running are likely behind then, what with aws and such like.
Very good movie.
Thanks.''
***** Thanks.'''
Why is it so difficult to find a video where the Jones goods whistles?!
Because none of these features or footage had sound.
Its been added in post.
The whistle may have been recorded when the Jones Goods was used in the film :
Those Magnificent Men in Their Flying Machines circa 1964.
