  • The Kingdom of Ironforge (aka The Kingdom of Khaz Modan) is the major government of the dwarves on the continent of Khaz Modan. The dwarven kingdom was founded after the awakened dwarves ventured out from the ancient city of Uldaman.
In former times, the Kingdom, led by the Anvilmar family, ruled over the three big dwarven clans Bronzebeard, Wildhammer and Dark Iron clan. After the death of Modimus Anvilmar, the tensions between the clans erupted in a civil war, called the War of the Three Hammers. The Bronzebeards emerged victorious due to owning the largest, best equipped army, and banished the other clans from Ironforge, which founded their own kingdoms.
The later attempt to seize Ironforge by the Dark Irons was repelled by the Bronzebeards and Wildhammer together, but even as Grim Batol, the home of the Wildhammers, was now uninhabitable, they declined the offer to return to Ironforge.
Dwarves are short and stout creatures mostly inhabiting Khaz Modan in the Eastern Kingdoms. They are shorter than humans but taller than gnomes, taking advantage of their size when possible and relying on their robustness and strength when not. The average dwarf is steady, observant and composed both during work and combat, yet able to rage with fierce zeal and persistence when the situation calls for it.
In past ages, the dwarves rarely left the safety of their mountain fortresses, spending their time on refining metal and stone into powerful weapons and beautiful jewelry. However, when the call to battle sounded, they rose up to defend their friends and allies with unmatched courage and valor. King Magni Bronzebeard led the Kingdom of Ironforge dwarves to becoming one of the most staunch members of the Alliance.

It's been a while since I've done one of this kind of videos, but I thought it's a good idea to publish this one in winter.
Like always, doing this kind of video makes me learn more about the lore, but I am insecure when it comes to what I've selected as relevant ideas for the Dwarves of Vanilla. It should have been a video focused on the Ironforge faction, but I couldn't omit related things such as Dark Iron Dwarves or Wildhammer Dwarves.

Would love to continue my work, but I need your help: please support my channel in any way you can. More details in the video description.

I know I might sound like a nostalgic idiot, but I truly feel the fog adds so much immersion, even though it's there du to graphical limitations.
I mean if we look at 1:30 it looks like the zone goes on forever and the transitions are smoother that way. I remember playing in westfall when cataclysm launched and I realized that I could easily see Moonbrook from Sentinel's Hill and noticed how close the 2 actually are. The vast desert of Westfall suddendly became a small playable area surrounded by mountains.

    • @Meisio

You are not wrong you know!? Distance view was certainty for performance limitations but it's clearly part of the Nostalgia. Later, not only this, but also the flying mounts made the world seem smaller. When I've played the WoW Classic Demo, I've picked old settings, but even with that, I could see a lot more details than the original client. Hopefully they will fix it.
      Salutations Toini! :)

Oh boi! As a proud Night Elf fan I can say without any doubt that the Dwarves are my second favorite race in WoW. So much good memories, despite that I started playing Vanilla just few years ago on Nostalrius. Thank you, Meisio! ^^

      Hey Toxa :)
Yes, dwarves are very cool. I am also associating the race with great players and friends who played the race, which I've had the privilege to play with during Vanilla times. Almost everything about them is cool (well, females dwarves aren't my favorite, but it will do! :) )

the "Old" zones are much more organic. i mean, houses are made of stone and wood, using ropes and a little metal. even places are lighiting by fire (candles and torches). The newer zones are much more magical, everithing is made of crystal things , even trees are glass like things.

I'm honestly fine with both. Both the familiar and the extraordinary feature and meet in fantasy. Sometimes it's very similar to our reality. Other times it's utterly unlike our reality. It varies a lot, sometimes even within the same setting.

The difficulty in these video is not in the tech part. Is in knowing the lore and showing relevant images / places, also, playing the right music.

I do wonder how the composer had access to such highquality samples back in the day. I also question how much of it was sampled and how much actually recorded by real instruments. The main log in screen for vanilla is definitely sampled instruments.

    • @Meisio

Yep, will be a Draenei TBC mix for sure. The plan was to make one after I'm finished with _of Vanilla_ series. I've also received Blood Elves request, so it made sense to do it together.
Only Trolls and Gnomes left. Not enough specific music for Trolls and Gnomes though and I am seriously considering to skip them a bit and move to TBC part.
