Hey Doug how are you? I am a disable person and am in pain 24/7. Because of my condition I have to stay in bed many hours. Almost a year ago searching videos in UA-cam I found one of your videos (HOW TO CARVE A BEAR) wow, for me that's the best wood carving video I have seen because you explain step by step how to do it right. Let me tell you, I bought a set of wood carving knives, follow your your steps and now am carving my own bears. Thanks to your videos now I have a hobby. Please keep posting videos.
Please don't delete your old vids. It's good to watch both and see how techniques evolve over time
I agree.
@Liam Patrick don’t
I dont mean to be so offtopic but does someone know of a way to get back into an Instagram account?
I was dumb forgot the account password. I would love any help you can give me!
@Leonidas Flynn instablaster =)
@Titus Abdiel Thanks for your reply. I got to the site through google and Im trying it out atm.
I see it takes quite some time so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
even a old carver like myself who does videos ..always loves to watch your my friend ..Great video Doug
My good man please don’t delete the other video. We all appreciate the new and look forward to more but don’t let perfect be the enemy of good. I watch your live stream and Sophie is an angel. Y’all are perfect together . Bless you
“There’s always another shirt underneath that shirt.” Awesome word! Doug, your tutorials are incredible. Your thinking out loud greatly increases our knowledge of why you are cutting where you were cutting. This video is not only a clip of your wood carving skills, but also your production skills. The sound is clear, the picture is clear, the lighting is good, you keep things in frame as you work, very enjoyable way to watch a tutorial. Thank you much, brother.
Please dont delete the old vids. I just wanna carve them.. 😉🙋🏼♀️
I thin having the finished little man in the background adds to the tutorial ,ie you can see the objective great job Doug
I've ordered some Bass wood blocks , I inherited my gran dads carving knives, I'm ready to get started ! TY for ALL your Video's ,,,, love em ! We use to whittle & fish at the river behind his house !
Doug, I discovered your wood carving videos and have been inspired to dust off my old carving tools that my parents gave me as a teenager back in the 1970's and get into the hobby once again. Thanks for sharing your time and talents, it is much appreciated.
Just started carving this past June, and find your videos to be a great help and inspiration. Keep up the good work
Thanks for taking the time to do another tutorial. I enjoy and appreciate all you do, but the longer tutorials are my favorite by far. I learn something new each time.
Tnx's Doug, no matter how much carving I do, your tutorials are always helpful.
Carved this project and really enjoyed it. Great piece-thanks Doug!
I'll be starting to carve soon so I've been watching a lot of your videos, and the roughing out is always my favourite part to watch. I find it amazing how quickly things can take shape with just a few cuts
Great video, thank-you. I love listening to yours & Gene's comments whilst carving.
As always love your work! I love seeing how you show your style changes. Thank you
Came across your channel last year at start of lockdown in the UK. Loved your work and gave it a go and now finished my 26th carving.....missing one or two fingers but have kept my sanity. Thank you Doug and never give it up, you are a star.
love these revamped videos Doug so good to see the updated techniques, keep em coming if you can mate, we all love them 👍👍👍
Just found your channel. Thank you for taking the time to make these. Just what I was looking for.
I appreciate it.
I have a feeling I'll be watching more than a few of these!
Great to see a new whittling video!!
It’s magical what happens to that block of wood, ha!!
Thanks Doug❣️
Great job as usual Doug, thanks for your help.
Thanks Doug watching your videos are the best way to start the day.
What a talent you have young man, that was very satisfying to watch.😉
Hey Doug, I love your videos, you're the reason I started to carve. I've gone through your old videos and didn't see one on just carving faces. That is my biggest problem. If you could do a detailed tutorial on just faces that would be great. I've got about a dozen figures done but with out faces. I think Ive gotten to a place where I'm ready to try. Thanks Scott
Hi there. I’m just like you. I’ve followed lots of Doug’s videos and he has greatly inspired me. I’m quite new to carving but I’m hooked. My problem is also with the faces. I’ve done a few little characters but the faces give me a lot of grief. I also wish that he would put out a tutorial on carving the faces. It would be a great confidence booster.
Hey, I want to thank you for your videos. I have learned so much from you. This hobby has really caught my interest and the way you explain your methods has recently inspired me. Thank you.
Great craftsmanship and awesome video again Doug. Thank you. 👍😁
You're about to make me get back into woodcarving
indeed please keep these as great reference. Takes a long time to carve these and your placement techniques are critical to learn
Thanks so much Doug. Love your system for carving it.
Thank you for the video!! Love watching your tutorials.
Y'all make it look so easy. Thanks for sharing, enjoyed, as usual. Have a great day.
I found a piece of wood the right size for this project but is has been living in the attic of my garage for a dozen years or so. I put it in a container with a damp towel as you demonstrated in you live stream last week. Every one of your videos is informative and entertaining, PAST and present.
Another great video Doug! Thanks for teaching and sharing!
I love that Refsal / Overby style. Not truly what I think of as flat plane. Can we call it “long plane”? Beautiful work, inspiring me to get carving. Thank you, and God bless.
Thank you Mr. Linker...Your video,s are much appreciated !
Doug thanks for doing the video nice easy little carving i'll have to do this one. Love the live talks with you and the wife.
Very nice job! Can't wait to carve him. With you!
You are getting better and better. And your tutorials are still the best. Thanks
Once again, excellent job of teaching. You are very inspiring. 👍
Son of a Moose Doug, another fine carving! I enjoyed watching you work.
Great video Doug. I always enjoy watching you do a carving.. well done
Wonderful Presentation Doug well worth several THUMBS UP!
Lol hi Doug your videos are awesome. The how to carve a lil man almost resembles you. Anyways you inspired me to get my first woodcarving knife, now to just get over my fear of the unknown and try and make my first wood carving ever. Thank you so much!
Hello Doug nice to see you are well and staying safe...Hope the family are all good too UK.
Thanks for the Video, Going to have to tackle this one , this weekend! Might take a couple before I get it. Take care old man.
This sounds strange, but I love the sound your razor sharp knife makes when you slice through the basswood block. Combined with your narration, all stress of the day disappears while watching your videos. Love them.
Happy to hear you are well again Doug..and overcome your flu.
Love it❤️! Thanks Doug👊💥
Great video Doug! Good stuff! Love the tutorial!
Thanks for all that you share :) It's nice that you show it in mm too. I'm from Norway so that make it easier for me :)
Great job, you make it look so easy. I'm following along carving my own character. At one point you said "there's always a shirt under this one" when you was having a bit of trouble with the jacket. I had to put my knife down cause it cracked me up. Lol
Thank you for all the lessons/tutorials you put on your channel. It's a wonderful resource for a beginner like me. Cheers.
I love all your videos an your the one who got me into carving an taught me the basics but I think I should keep old an new videos an let the people deside what ones to watch an use
I learned a lot. Actually finished one that looks like yours. Thanks again...from Puerto Rico 🥥👏
Wood carvings master. I learned a lot from your youtube channel. Wish you wellness and success. Thanks very much❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

I’ve been jonesing for a Doug Linker carving video. Thanks!
Awesome tutorial video. I have to carve it first but with this approach it looks easier then before. No pressure but I already wait for a new tutorial :)))
Really enjoyed this Doug, please keep it going...
Awesome, thanks again Doug ! 👍
Hi Doug, great video and I feel at just the right speed. Learned a lot from the way you stepped through the various stages to form this little guy. Who would have though he was inside that block of wood? Our problem in the UK is getting supplies of the Basswood at a price that’s not prohibitive. In the UK a 4”x1 1/2” square stock, the cheapest I have seen from a butt of 300x38x38mm was £14.00 plus delivery. So it makes you a bit tentative while carving should a *slip** happen! Here the wood other carvers use is our native Lime but I find this a bit like hard work. Gene Messer gave out a tip to soak the block of wood for a couple of days in 50x50 water and alcohol. It worked with some old Pine I had laying around I think was from an old floor joist that I used on the Eskimo carving you did. Keep up the great work with your demonstrations always gets me carving! Thanks a lot Bob Oxfordshire UK...
Thanks Doug, so much fun!
Watching your videos is always inspiring and a little daunting. It make it look so easy when in fact it is difficult. None the less it gives great ideas and a goal to aspire to.
Excellent video. Thank you.
Yaaay! So excited. Can't wait to dig in
Thank you for your time I enjoy your videos, God bless and stay safe my friend.
Thanks Doug. It’s been a while since we seen you whittling. Nice!!!
Thank you for sharing your videos.
Very nice carving video! So nice and relaxing 😌. I'm sure it lowered my blood pressure, that's a good thing! 👍 Many blessings! Peace and good fortune and good health to you and your family.
Thanks for the video Doug, I enjoyed it very much, also enjoy your q and a on Wed. nights.
Thanks man, you carve slow enough that I can see all your cuts. You and Gene have help me love the little fok. Thanks from Alabama PawPaw
Finally .... i miss your tutorial carving vlog.... god bless always sir....
It's a wonderful thing to watch this. A friend gifted me a pair of rocking chair people ( male and female). They're carved wood. They're really cute. But lots of work as I can clearly see by watching you work !
Glad I have a few men from following the old video. Thanks for the new one Doug!
That said, your teaching in this video is excellent!
Hi Doug I was waiting for a new tutorial. Please don’t delete your old video. I use it basically every week. Thank you.
I miss your audience of small characters on the table watching you Doug but still an excellent video 👍👍👍👍👍
Thanks Doug. My next project.
Woow beautiful work and tutorial 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻💜💜🔝🔝😊
Nice Doug, another great video!!!!
Can’t wait to try this guy

Always enjoyable to watch
Thanks you!!!!
I already made my own little man!!!!,thanks from Montevideo_ Uruguay!!!!
Thanks so much! Great job!
It’s amazing how sharp your knife is
Hey there man. Thank you 🙏🏽 you really gave me an idea since I don’t have enough money to buy myself some knomes for my garden i can carve some lil guys ❤️
I like this new style.
Looking forward to this one. I am about to buy some whittling knives from Amazon. Really can’t decide what to get though as they all seem to be from China and have mixed reviews. People saying they snap at the handle or they come dull and need sharpening etc..
Maintaining the edge of the blade is what made me give up last time when I got into it a few years back. I made a couple of really cool little carvings too. I am just naff at sharpening and keeping an edge on knives. So whittling knives that need to be super sharp as just a nightmare for me.
Great little guy…very cool indeed❣️
Hi Doug.
I'm sorry to say but I have ONLY JUST stumbled across your channel.
It looks like I've got a lot of watching to do. I love your videos. Super cool.
The BOB ROSS of wood. Keep Em comin'. Watching in Manchester England.
Another fantastic video. I'm getting closer to being able to do this one. I'll have to wait till this week-end to let my fingers heal and get a new knife cuz I broke it .. LOL ... Love your videos .. God Bless you my friend. 😊👍✨✨✔
Hi Doug, just got finished watching the video, I am behind on your videos and playing catch up. Awesome job. I thought for a minute when you had your knife turned around it was about to go from a carving tutorial to a painting tutorial. "just kidding" Always enjoy getting to watch your videos. Thanks as always for sharing.
Thanks Doug!! 🤩🤩👍👍💯💯
A new tutorial, YES.
Great video. A big improvement on the first one.
Thank you , Mr Doug
