It's not only vegan, but it's also suitable for those who cannot have shellfish, are vegetarian, and so on.
This is perfect!
Not a vegan but I have a shellfish allergy, I need to try this
I was looking for a halal version of kimchi without alcohol and this one should work InshaaAllah
I don't think kimchi has alcoholic ingredients? Frementented vegetables do actually have alcohol because of something during the fermentation process, but it's not enough to harm you, and as a muslim I can eat pickles, which are also fermented, so you should be safe to eat non-vegan kimchi as well!
Some type of kimchis have alcohol, and sometimes vodka is added to increase preservation of a pickle. @@IntenseWheeze
Genuinely I wonder if you guys eat fermented food as well? Like fermented vegetables, kimchi, sauerkraut.. Because usually they produce natural alcohol during fermentation..
These people can have fermented foods because the alcohol content is not intoxicating and not high like that in alcohols made from grapes, etc. As per some Islamic schools of thoughts, as long as it is below 0.5% that is okay as well. Last but not least, if alcohol is processed and it isn't intoxicating, no longer remains alcohol that is allowed as well ( like in medicines or so) @@MrAndalian
I'm Muslim and I'm telling u there is no alcohol in kimchi, there is baby shrimp in kimchi... 🙄
Wow love this
Love this music ❤
I usually hate the music that goes with videos and turn the volume down, but I love this music!!😍
Oh, and I really like the vegan kimchi recipe. I am researching to try my first batch in a few days😊
Thank you!
do we need to store only in fridge ??
Yes. If you store the jar outside it may get fungus
Hehe .. it's Asian... give us rice.. & some nice pickle.. we would love it 😅
Bro, kimchi is as vegan as it gets, why are you calling it v3gan kimchi lol.
It actually is not lol! It usually contains shrimp paste and some also use fish sauce...
Vegan kimchi is ❤️❤️❤️
we 100% agree!!
Can we use plain rice flour instead of sweet glutenous flour?
Yes, it has nothing to do with gluten, rice is for fermentation
@ashwinisharma3533 I was wondering too... I have never found sweet glutinous rice flour in my local grocery stores! But I found rice flour in the baby food section where it is used to cook baby rice porridge! Do you think this would work?
Why don't you use wheat flour? Some Koreans use plain white flour instead of rice flour when making porriage for kimchi. @@pineapple1612
hi!! anyone have a measurement for the ratio of glutinous rice flour to water :)
Is rice flour necessary if im making kimchi to be eaten instantly
What is the shelf life in the fridge?
It keeps getting more sour over time but I kept it many months in the fridge and I think you can store it a few months.
As long as there is no mold and you think it's not sour enough
Like others said as long as you don't see any mold, it's still good. I keep some aside to use for Kimchi pancakes and the more sour the better so I have a jar that's almost 18 months old in my fridge.
Half a kilo of Gochugaro in Costa Rica it’s $15 USD. For me it’s expensive.
U can use normal chilli powder as a substitute
@@momoland_merry86 thx. I’ve tried, but my family says they notice the difference since normal chili powder is way hotter 🥵 than the Korean stuff
@@bloatedtonydanza7798 but you can use chilli powder which only give color
Looks delicious
Does hmart have vegan kimchi now?
Cabbage steak
Can we use apple if we don't have pears
Yes!
Yeah, the pear is just to add natural sweetness.
Love it 😋💖💓💓💓💓💓
What can we use instead of kelp?
You don’t need it
Other than kelp??
You can use plain water. Kelp gives umami.
Can i use normal cabbage instead of napa?
Yes! Kimchi is usually made with Napa cabbage, but it can also be made with any vegetables like regular cabbage, cucumbers, radish, green onions, etc!
Kimchi has gluten ?
Most kimchi recipes would not have gluten. Glutinous rice refers to it being sticky like glue, it does not contain any gluten.
doesn't have to be but it does make it taste better
This recipe is the best, i made kimchi with fish sauce and i said kimchi is better than every pickled
Oh no ...i don't have apples
isn't Kimchi already vegan to begin with?
No because kimchi has shrimp paste in it
@@jdub7550 ah, one learns something new everyday.
I thought that it was just fermented chili & cabbage.
Nope, it contains shellfish and fish
I make homemade kimchi and usually you put fish sauce and shrimp paste. I'm interested to try Kombu instead of the fish sauce.
