10 years later and this album is still a criminally underrated masterpiece. Hot take: its better than anything Periphery have released. And I love me some Periphery.
Periphery has evolved quite a lot and that what makes them interesting. Although it would've been amazing to see this band's sound evolve through the years.
just here to participate in the sadness :( The most underrated, most talented, and most unique gleaming gemstone in all of heavy metal. Or at the very least, prog metal
I used to listen to these guys when I was a teenager, I picked them up again a few weeks ago, tonight I decided to check out their newer stuff, because of course thery had made so much music in all that time right? #facepalm
0:42 the sweeping over that chug has played in my head multiple times a week since I first heard it when it came out. Such an insane part right there...
These guys opened up for Born of Osiris in Omaha on what I'm pretty sure was the release day of this album. I was there for BOO and had never heard of The Human Abstract. I walked in at the beginning of their set tripping aggressively hard on about an eighth and a half of mushrooms. They played the whole album, front to back. Holy shit that was an experience.
Such a shame that these guys aren't currently producing music. I know they're trying but not everyone in the band is coming together. This band and the safety fire really hits me in the gut to know we might not ever see them reach their prime
J. Cobb as much as I like Elliot as a singer in anything Good tiger just misses where the safety fire seemed to hit Both great bands but the safety fire struck a very unique blend in sound
Get the urge to play this today for the first time in a while and it suddenly struck me how much it reminds me of Alaska by Between The Buried And Me and that’s compliment in many ways while it still holds it own in the same respect 🤘
+Prince of Nothing Haha! Great, now I can't watch this without noticing that. Maybe they didn't get much footage of A.J. or they thought he wasn't animated enough to use in the video very often.
+Prince of Nothing This. But also, AJ, as great a musician as he is, didn't give much thought to stage presence. Concert footage is fundamentally about movement, so the camera will naturally gravitate to the most active subjects.
Their bassist never gets love. I have seen these guys live several times. Their bassist is a fucking animal, and watching him play is awesome! They're a great band, all around - photographers just love those dreads.
I really hate that this band broke up...I still listen to this album religiously and cant find anything that comes close to the sheer technicality and musicianship that these guys put into this album
In the same way the band ‘The Safety Fire’ can speak to me across the years in a way no other musical group will, so too, has spoken ‘The Human Abstract’. 🤘🏻🫶
I loved the safety fire - protest the hero - BTBAM and the Harpp machine along with the human abstract. Also every time I die and Dillinger escape plan I think all these bands had not only great talented music but every member including vocalist are truly great musicians.

:( the singer is in a weird emo type band my favorite vocalist that is. He was originally from first to last I think if I remember correctly. The rest I couldn't ever see where they went he's the only one that continued it looks like.
@shakunkadunk Correction...Henry, the bassist posted that the band was done. Dean Herrara, the guitarist, posted that he was upset with Henry for saying that.
@autoacesso No they havnt broke up, one of the guys posted on FB that they did because the vocalist left, then the bassist tweeted that he was really angry with whoever wrote that because they are just looking for a new vocalist.
I'm EXTREMELY fucking sad that I was going to see them at Warped Tour in Los Angeles last year, but they didn't play for some reason. Then the next day I found out Travis left the band. SO. FUCKING. SAD.
@realslimjadey Obviously because Ryan was not the one who tracked vocals in Digital Veil and Travis obviously left the band and Ryan was filling in. Wtf do you do you expect? Ryan to record vocals over the track or what?
@KungFuzzled they didnt break up, just taking a break. they lost their vocalist for the 3rd time now lol. hopefully they get their first vocalist back tho
Is the lead guitarist still that guy AJ or whatever? im just starting to seriously listen to these guys, I heard Vela, Together we await the storm and thought it was awesome but never looked up their other material... i fuckin love it. so yeah Still AJ or the guy from the first album?
AJ was the original guitarist (Along with Dean) on Nocturne, AJ left during Midheaven, then re-joined, along with a new singer (Travis), for Digital Veil..
I'm not sure EXACTLY what happened, but Travis just stopped playing with them in the middle of this tour, so Ryan Devlin filled in. Travis is still in THA. Ryan is not. Ryan is in Corelia.
I can't speak for this bass player but the one they had a while back some bald dude with a beard, he was extremely tight with the band... Sounded great live when my band played with them...
They are still a band, but barely. The bassist made a statement saying there doesn't appear to be any further prospects for the band atm, so they are on a temporary leave of absence.
I was just about to ask why their Patterns music video has another guy and then I see this guy. Do you know why this guy was filling in? I know that Travis is still in the band, no?
Digital Veil is a perfect album
10 years later and this album is still a criminally underrated masterpiece. Hot take: its better than anything Periphery have released. And I love me some Periphery.
This isn't as good as Periphery II, but for sure better than P3
Periphery has evolved quite a lot and that what makes them interesting. Although it would've been amazing to see this band's sound evolve through the years.
I am a periphery big fan. But I have to agree with you on this, dang sorry Misha, and the gang.
THA > Periphery ?
Personal? Yes. But I’m a classical nerd.
11 years later and this comes no where near periphery level.
This band was too good to exist for long.
I just wish aj minnette still played metal in some form
@@goblin3810 hes an absolute guitar wizard.

Let's just be happy they existed at all
It’s now the end of 2019 and I’m still not over how UNDERRATED this band was/is...
Yeah dude. I heard about them after they broke up.
Void Fame used to see them back in 2010-2011-2012 at a small local venue in Columbus GA
90% of people have IQ under 90
Still listening to these guys in 2024! Please get back together and release some new music! This is one of the greatest metal albums of all time.
These guys were on another level. Please let 2021 somehow bring them back together. The world may not deserve them, but needs them.
the greatest technical/melodical/agressive/progressive mixture ever heard!
The GREATEST, and always will be. Has never been beaten.
@@nikolauswilliams3124 Couldn't agree more
Yeah man these guys are tight for sure.
mmm

Used to be a big fan in 2012.. Listening to them now makes me realise how good of I taste I had lol

Seen many show on acid or x but only one on mushrooms which was Queensryche
Why do I always come across such amazing bands like 7 years late?
for the love of god please do not break up. the world of music needs THA so badly.
Such a shame that these guys aren't currently producing music. I know they're trying but not everyone in the band is coming together. This band and the safety fire really hits me in the gut to know we might not ever see them reach their prime
Yeah, they had so much potential and it's going to waste. :( I wish I could've seen them live.
Dark-Slayer200 same man :/
TheDonkeyFLOPPER maaaaan The Safety Fire :(
... may i say, Good Tiger.
J. Cobb as much as I like Elliot as a singer in anything
Good tiger just misses where the safety fire seemed to hit
Both great bands but the safety fire struck a very unique blend in sound
My favorite guitar riffs ever.
ryan couldn't get a break with his bands, he's such an incredible vocalist i'm sure he killed it on these live shows
Get the urge to play this today for the first time in a while and it suddenly struck me how much it reminds me of Alaska by Between The Buried And Me and that’s compliment in many ways while it still holds it own in the same respect 🤘
Man, this director really loved their rhythm guitarist.
+Prince of Nothing Haha! Great, now I can't watch this without noticing that. Maybe they didn't get much footage of A.J. or they thought he wasn't animated enough to use in the video very often.
Chainsaw Octopus Probably just because Dean's beautiful.

MrMalicous1 For sure.

2011 was wonderful year. I bought this album, in my Jr Year
Cheers, bud!
Man,,,,
I really love this album,,
Hopefully they will continue to make music. They can't leave us after making this!
This album was perfection.
This band is awesome. I hope the settle their differences.
I really hate that this band broke up...I still listen to this album religiously and cant find anything that comes close to the sheer technicality and musicianship that these guys put into this album
2:33 gets me rock hard everytime
this song is perfect for doing physical exercise, i feel stronger with this
Incredible! Such musical diversity compared to other bands in the genre.

You're right actually! The singer in the recording is Travis Richter and that guy is a fill in for him, thats Ryan Devlin. The more you know.
I will always fu#[ with THA no matter how long its been.
LYRICS:
Careless, to try to think that we've progressed
And the consequence of walking quietly
We only know, what we've been told
Self's exposed and overloaded
These monuments built by thieves
Keep us contained
Polished they stand and guide us
I found a four leaf clover
Hidden within
Buried beneath my fears
And we fall, kneeling
Begging for scraps
Hands and arms stretched out
We reach for what we're given
So privileged
I'd imagine it could be the fall of man
We come from control
A paradigm that leads us through the valley
Into the mouths of wolves
We are being eaten alive
And we fall, kneeling
Begging for what?
The tailor's shop has closed
And we don't dress for miracles anymore
Oh, how we believe in
All the monuments built by thieves
i like the way the snare is recorded. first time hearing bottom mic>top mic sounding so good.
i dont know much about drums but are you sure? in some parts the snare sound different, could be mixed that way
well i dont know thats just what im hearing
Chuck Norros nah, probably cuz the drummer is human and not every hit sounds the same.
Yeah, the bottom snare is more prominent in the mix. I agree, it sounds fucking great.
These guys were so talented - where are they now?
:( the singer is in a weird emo type band my favorite vocalist that is. He was originally from first to last I think if I remember correctly. The rest I couldn't ever see where they went he's the only one that continued it looks like.
Get this shit on spotify ASAP Pleaseeeeee
yeah, I wish they got a recording of Ryan. He was fantastic live.
4:30 chills every single time.
such a sick video! I hope they keep making music. I was so sad when they apparently broke up. But I've heard different from the band too.
Gorgeous pro-shot!
Dynamic but chill edit.
Perfect.

Man I miss these guys

SO AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!
My favourite song !!!!!!!
@shakunkadunk Correction...Henry, the bassist posted that the band was done. Dean Herrara, the guitarist, posted that he was upset with Henry for saying that.
Perfect.
@realslimjadey when they filmed it, he was doing vocals. They put the original song over it, which had travis
I wonder how many of the people complaining about the video having Travis' vocals but Ryan in the video realize that it's just an overdub...
im really happy they released, i love this song but it is a bit odd watching it with ryan singing while the track is with travis from the album.
Legendary
This is absolutely insane!!!! M/
@MarkWellerMusic I was talking about the music. But good job on the video, man!
AJ stiff leg @ 1:24
This band has no idea how bad they need to make music again. There talent level is beyond everyone including BTBAM
Those guitars are extremely expensive and sound divine.
@autoacesso No they havnt broke up, one of the guys posted on FB that they did because the vocalist left, then the bassist tweeted that he was really angry with whoever wrote that because they are just looking for a new vocalist.
Why tf is this not available on Spotify?! I would love this version too!
hell ya!
I'm EXTREMELY fucking sad that I was going to see them at Warped Tour in Los Angeles last year, but they didn't play for some reason. Then the next day I found out Travis left the band. SO. FUCKING. SAD.
¿Is Ryan Devlin of Corelia?
yeah
Thank you I forgot their name.
Yes, sir.
This is what we call a perfect metal band. They better get their shit together soon and dish out some more goods.
The magicks of a black art called "Montage". It can be the most deceiving branch of magicks in the world.

Roman Reigns on guitar, Seth Rollins on vocals, and Dean Ambrose on drums
Lmao!
Ah I fucking love this song
I like it! :-D
Am i the only one who thinks this album is the best album of 2011?
this band broke up or not? I heard that they had separated. This band is perfect !!!
@realslimjadey Obviously because Ryan was not the one who tracked vocals in Digital Veil and Travis obviously left the band and Ryan was filling in. Wtf do you do you expect? Ryan to record vocals over the track or what?
It sounds a litle bit to BETWEEEN THE BURIED AND ME" heheehe, but still kickim' asses.

this is my fav song by this band! but i just hate watching this cause its travis's vocals, but its ryan in the vid lol
Corelia singer, REALLY ???? How could I miss this ?
Corelia, YEAH.
Aj is a fucking machine
0:45 this shit
3:32 to 4:00 always reminds me of Castlevania.
This shit slays.
This album fucks.

Is that the guitarist from Almah?
Must be a fucking hell beeing the drummer fot this band.
THATS NOT GOOD ENOUGH! >:( im freaking out im freaking out
Please tell me you are joking.... He's pretty damn good.
