Hey! I will post this question also in the video about Prizm lenses for everyday, just to cover the bases: I live in an environment that is snowy at least 6 months of the year, with about 2 or 3 of those months getting very bright, whether sunny or cloudy (cloudy days are sometimes the most blinding, with bright white everywhere). Then summer it is totally green and we have 24 hours of light :) I engage in all outdoor sports -- skiing, hiking, biking, rivers, lakes, forest and mountain, etc. So I am trying to choose an ideal lens (or two) for each season -- One sport frame each, one lifestyle frame each. So up to 4 pairs of sunglasses. So far I have tried the Road Jade, Black, Ruby, and Sapphire (Grey and Road are in the mail). I loved the contrast of the Road Jade in mixed conditions, but not the rose base (especially on sunny days). I loved the darkness of the Black on the sunniest days. I found that the Ruby do not work in such a green environment in summer here! While bronze base might provide highest contrast, I simply could not distinguish as well among all the green trees and plants, as bronze seems to boost the green. And the Sapphire are supposedly grey-based, but they looked too rosy to me -- I could not see as well in the Sapphire as in the Black. So... I know there is a "snow sapphire" lens and am wondering whether it's actually meant for snow conditions, and why/how? I think I tend to prefer the most "natural" look, so grey base lenses, but which one of those would give the highest contrast? I am hoping the Sutro S with Prizm Grey will be my go-to. Which lenses would you recommend to me for the 2 main "seasons" in my environment and activities? Thanks for your time!!
Hello Valkoshka! We can tell you've done some homework! Based on your preferences I think you're right on point with the Prizm Road Black, especially if neutral tones in your field of view are what you're after. Snow Sapphire has the same VLT as the everyday version but with more rose in the dye to accentuate the textures among snowy conditions. Most Prizm Sport lenses utilize a rose base to for contrast and color enhancement, though it sounds like the Everday options might be more to your liking. While some options lens options are not available with Sutro S frame, you may get the most benefit from the Jade and Sapphire (polarized or non-polarized) for both summer and winter environments. Hopefully this helps but if you have additional questions don't hesitate to give our certified opticians a call! 877.289.2999 info@sportrx.com
I daily Radar EV Path Prizm Road Jade, and I love the lens! Darker than Road and more contrast than Gray, and I spend a LOT of time behind the wheel. Also, don’t sleep on the Low Light lens. Great for overcast, dusk, and early dawn.
Absolutely brilliant context and very informative. I got the portal x with road black lenses. I was worried it would be too dark for daily use but Robs comment about it only being a tiny bit darker than the standard road lens was what I needed to hear. Thanks.
Normally I don't buy into marketing hype, but I will NOT mountain bike anything challenging without my Prizm TRAIL glasses. My response to picking a line after glancing forward is much faster and intuitive when I am wearing them.
Hello, looking for ONE pair of lens that perform well for mountain biking and driving. Would you recommend trail, road or golf? Living in Central Europe so not super bright here. Thanks
Greetings! If you're operating in mostly overcast conditions, then a lighter tint with a higher VLT (visible light transmission) is going to deliver the best contrast results. The Prizm Trail Torch & Golf lenses are your best bet.
I just got the Prizm Road in the Sutro S for softball because they are not offered with the Prizm field lens which is weird. The rep at the Oakley store said they are very similar and basically the same, but I value your input what do you think?
Hello! Good question. He's correct that they are similar in that they use the same base tint (rose) however the dye recipe and mirror intensity are slightly different. The VLTs (visible light transmission) have about a 5% difference with the Prizm Field being the darker option having a vlt of 15% vs. 20% with the Road lens. In terms of contrast and performance, you're not missing much, if anything. You might actually find that you prefer the Road as it lets more light through, making it a good option for conditions with some cloud cover. Thanks for watching!
I hike in the forests and on overcast days in Washington state. I'm looking for a soothing pink hued lens. Which is actually the lightest lens...the trail, or the road? Or maybe the golf? I really don't need to block out light, I just like protection from wind and dust, etc. but want something more than just a clear lens.
Looking for some glasses for rowing, I’m just wondering whether the shallow water prizm will help me see my surroundings better or whether they are just for seeing what’s under the water
Hey Hugh! The Prizm Shallow Water is an excellent choice for rowing. It will enhance the colors in your surroundings in addition to removing glare on the water's surface. 👍
Looking for the one with the most contrast in general, but specifically for a field (though not baseball). Mid- to late- afternoon football officiating. I often do games on fields with complete sun and some that will have shadows due to the stands/press box. My Flak Jackets with the standard gray lens work OK but I just want to bump up the "pop" and contrast. It sounds like the Field or Mountain biking ones would work the best. Comments? Thanks for the video!
Pretty torn between Prizm Field and Prizm Shallow/Deep Water. I play a lot of tennis but also am on the lake and such a LOT in summer. Boating, fishing, beaching, etc. What do you think?
Hey Jack! Because those 2 lenses are vastly different from each other and were designed for very different environments, i would suggest selecting a frame with interchangeable lenses (like the Flak 2.0 XL for example) that allows you to swap out the lenses as you see fit. However if you were to choose only 1, you may get more use out of the polarized option even though you may lack a touch of depth perception when using them for tennis.
I have prizm road lens and those are amazing for driving a car. I also use sapphire lens on my snow goggles and they really change evrything. You can see better with those in their own environment than with bare eye. I would highly suggest these for evryone that needs good lens for some sport or driving a car😃
exactly what was my thinking but the prizm road is very hard to find in normal (non-sport) style frames oakley sylas I found with prizm road jade but they are a bit too big for me they should definitely incorporate the prizm road lens in more lifestyle frames for car guys
@@HeadBassVTEC it might be hard to find yes. I have some crossrange model that is not so sport style or big but they are many years old. I don't know if there is some Holbrook or some basic models still also?☺️
@@Wexi1990 Oakley Actuator is some new style made for "casual runners" that has prizm road lens and does not look too sporty (it has some sporty features just thoughtfully incorporated inside casual looking frame style) it's a bit too big, probably Medium-to-Large at 57/16/137 and SFW 135mm I guess it's just a matter of time until they make more casual looking prizm road for men as well, sadly the only frame that look kinda ok-ish on me in the normal adult size is the holbrook at sfw 132 I guess I could actually use some of the bigger "kids" frames lol, but they do not do that many lenses for kids as well I can wear 125-135 but the best for me is 128-130
@@Wexi1990 holbrook I found they make in Prizm Dark Golf which has very close spectrum profile to Prizm Trail Torch which I wanted for MTBing so maybe I'll try that one. Might work for road as well
Of course Pablo! Many people opt for a sport lens for their daily activities if that is their preference and with a wide variety of sport lenses available from Oakley, there is something for everyone.
@@sportrxeyewear Thanks a lot! Sorry to insist, its that just bought some prizm road flight jacket but I do not understand if I can use to go to the beach... Did I made a mistake? Tks. By the way: awesome channel.
Hey if Oakley is listening the trail needs a transition lens version, I don't want to take off my eye protection just cause the sun's down. Or better yet make the RIP cord in xs. Eye protection is paramount. Make the trail as tough as the cord plus bright day/low light transition
I find that the Prizm Road Black acheives great contrast on the sand, especially in bright sunny conditions. If there's marine layer overcast, try out the Prizm Trail Torch.
Would you say dark golf has the same amount of "pop" as golf because im looking for the most contrast in an oakley lens any other recommendations or would you say the golfs are the best?
Hi there! PRIZM Golf has more pop than Dark Golf. Another PRIZM lens with tons of contrast pop is PRIZM Trail. You can see how all the PRIZM lenses stack up here: www.sportrx.com/blog/oakley-prizm-prescription-lenses/
I have a few questions. Which one is better Prizm or Polarized? Whatever your answer is could you tell me why it's better than the other? I have sensitive eyes to the sunlight which Oakley sunglasses do you recommend?
Hi, its me again. Thanks for the advice last time. I'm still looking for ourdoor tennis sunglass. Oakley should make for Tennis . How about Prizm Field Lens ? Should I buy ?
Greetings! If you're primarily playing in bright sunny conditions, then yes, Prizm Field is a fantastic option! For mid light with some overcast, the Prizm Trail or Trail Torch works well and for low-light early morning or dusk (and even indoors) opt for the new Prizm Low-Light lens 🎾
What would you recommend for Beach Volleyball? I've heard Prism Sapphire Polarized and Prism Field recommended a lot, though I'm worried Field may be too intense for non-sport activities (hiking/enjoying nature, etc).
Hey there! On the contrary, while the Prizm Field was designed with baseball and other field sports in mind, the boost in contrast and color translates to other environments as well. The Sapphire compliments the beach atmosphere as well, but you may want to avoid polarization as it can affect depth perception when playing. Notably, tracking the ball in flight.
What would you recommend for a Heavy Equipment construction operator? I currently have some Heat Wave Vise sunglasses with a grey tint but in my opinion they are pretty crappy. I probably won't ever buy them again. They were only $50 so maybe that's why. I'm looking for sunglasses that will brighten up my field of view
Hey Adam! I'm assuming you require ANSI Z87.1 frames and lenses for use on the job site. Wiley X, Oakley, and Smith make some great safety rated frames. Hello there, I am looking for a prizm lens for snowboarding. But I don't want googles, I am looking for sunglasses like Holbrook and I am not 100% sure of what lens is the best options for sunny days in snow. If you could give me some tip I would appreciate it. Thanks in advance! Love your videos! Greetings from Spain!
Hello! For bright bluebird days on the slopes, opt for a lens with a lower VLT rating and a rose base for contrast enhancement. Check out the Prizm Road Black, Prizm Deep Water Polarized, & Prizm Snow lens options!
Prizm Road's a great choice! With 20% VLT it will accommodate most lighting conditions as well. Check out the Prizm Trail Torch or Road Jade options too. 🚵♂️
Would Prizm Field be good for model helicopter flying? Something dark enough on bright days but bright enough for partly cloudy or overcast to boost the colors.
Is Prizm road and Prizm field a lot different in terms of view / contrast / light transmission etc ....on the outside their lens tint looks very similar. ..I do have Prizm road to play cricket ( similar to baseball ) and now wondering should I pick up field lens in case its more beneficial
Hello! Both lenses use a rose base tint but the Field has a lower VLT making it ideal for bright light conditions in a sports field setting. Might be a good addition to your collection for Cricket!
Hi guys., good info. A question please: I would like to know if there are differences or if it is same (lens/dye/wavelength tunning) in these 3 sunglasses. A) 0OO9406-0137 (Sutro PRIZM BLACK B) 0OO9406-0837 (Sutro PRIZM ROAD) and PRIZM ROAD BLACK shown in your video here in min 3:55. Thanks!
Hi! While no Prizm lenses are ANSI rated for impact protection, which is recommended for shooting, the Trail Torch and Tungsten yield amazing contrast for target shooting.

Which Oakley lenses are going to make the colors pop the most? I bought a pair of frames because I heard great things about Deep Water Prizm Polarized and they came with brand new Deep Water lenses and a beat up pair of the original lenses which are Sapphire Prizm. I actually like the Sapphire lenses so much more because they make a lot of colors look basically like HD. The Deep Water lenses just didn't make colors stand out the same way it's more like a little above neutral look. So which lenses do you recommend for giving the most WOW factor when looking through them while still being good for sunny days?
Hi there! It ultimately depends on the environment for which they're to be used. The Deep Water was designed for offshore open ocean conditions. BUT if you're looking for a lens that will enhance color and contrast in your field of view for everday lifestyle or specific sports, then there are a few prizm options to consider over the Deep Water. Namely, the Tungsten, Rose Gold, Ruby, and Dark Golf!
Robert, this is a good question and one that we haven't covered in our content yet. However, we do have a few lens suggestions for you. The first thing to consider is that you'll be wanting a lens that offers high contrast. This helps improve depth perception and hone in on details at range. Another factor to consider is Variable Light Transmission (VLT). You'll want VLT to probably be around 15-20% which helps mute out bright light. You'll usually find that bronze or rose tints help achieve this. Taking those factors into account, our suggestions are top suggestions are PRIZM Tungston and PRIZM Jade Iridium. As a bonus, Oakley sells two shooting-specific lenses (though they are hard to find and non-Rx). These are TR-22 and TR-45. Hopefully this helps and good luck finding the perfect Oakley archery lenses!
Hi guys First of all great videos. Would you recommend any of PRIZM sport lenses on the beach (beach volleyball)? Mainly to play in full sun and partially cloudy days. Many thanks for advices Bye-o ;)
PRIZM works great for volleyball! We recommend either PRIM Field or PRIZM Tungsten(non-polarized). Both lenses offer optimal sun protection while also boosting contrast. You can see our top Oakley volleyball sunglass recommendations here: www.sportrx.com/blog/best-oakley-beach-volleyball-sunglasses/
I was wanting to know if you could recommend an old clean wheels for people that are like sensitive and that can be used every day outdoors and if you have any recommendations that might help

Looking for the right lens for road biking. I live in So Cal and typically ride in the morning so it’s brighter. Would you recommend to go straight to the prizm road lens or will a Jade work?
Hi there! PRIZM Road Black is available in prescription and I am pretty sure there is an iridium feature on the lens in both non-prescription AND prescription but our certified opticians can verify for you here: www.sportrx.com/contact
Hello, just picked up prism trail torch in the radar ev path. So which is the brighter and better lense for mtb? Trail or trail torch? I mainly ride at Mt Galbraith in Bellingham Washington. Any advice is appreciated. I also want these glasses for driving as well.
Hi Rich! The visible light transmission between trail and trail torch is only 1% difference. this means that both lenses allow about the same amount of light to your eyes but PRIZM Trail Torch is just a hair darker. The main difference between both is aesthetics. Hope this helps!
Could the field lens double up as a golf lens? I play golf not religiously but I coach soccer a lot, so was thinking I’d get the field lens rather than anything else. Would this be a good decision? Plus I live in Queensland where it’s always sunny Regards
Hi there! Yes it can be used for golf as well. It is a bit darker than PRIZM Golf so it may be a better option for your environment. You can see how all the PRIZM Sport lenses compare to one another on this graph: www.sportrx.com/blog/oakley-prizm-sport-lens-technology/ Hope this helps!
Hmmm that sounds like a question our certified opticians can help you out with based on the environment you are playing in. Pleas contact them via phone or live chat for more help: www.sportrx.com/contact
They are related, of course! How much light is allowed through the lens dictates the VLT and how much of each color makes it through dictates how much light is making it through. If you want more yellow to make it through the lens, for instance, you will necessarily increase the VLT unless you also decrease the amount you allow another color on the spectrum to make it through. It should be calculable by looking at the graph what the VLT is, but that would take a deeper dive into a number of things. If you ever have any questions, our friendly, knowledgeable opticians would be happy to help at 877-789-3633
I've got a question, I shoot competition 3 gun locally, and I hunt deer in Ohio in early December. All my guns have an optic with some form of a red dot. What lens would you recommend to highlight the red dot, and good for medium sun to cloudy days.

@@shaunpasses3153 I went with prism ruby for sunny days and prism golf. I find that I use the prism golf the most even on sunny days with a baseball hat to shade the sun they work great.
Hi CJ! You will still get great contrast and maximum UV protection. The difference is that PRIZM Field is specifically designed for the baseball field so it will enhance the specific colors and textures that will help your on-field performance. Hope this helps!
Good question! PRIZM Golf or Field can probably work but you should get a second opinion from our certified opticians via live chat or phone here: www.sportrx.com/contact
Heya Clarke! The Prizm Field lens has proved to work very well for tennis. The dye combo will boost the colors of the ball against the toned down blue colors of the court. Hope this helps some!
That is a tough choice! The visible light transmission in PRIZM Field is 15% vs 17% in PRIZM Ruby so there is not a huge difference. Another difference is the base tint. PRIZM Field has a rose base and PRIZM Ruby has a bronze base. Both will give you a great contrast boost.
Hi there! That colorway was discontinued. You can always reach out to one of our certified opticians if you need help finding an alternate colorway or frame: www.sportrx.com/contact
PRIZM Field! This lens has a lower VLT which means less light coming through the lens in sunny conditions. However, you still get that amazing contrast to help you spot the ball.
Hello! Due to the amount of brightness experienced at high elevation and reflection coming off the snow, a mirrored lens with a low VLT will provide the best contrast, protection, and comfort on the mountain. The Prizm Black Polarized has the lowest VLT among the Sport Collection of lenses and classifies as a Category 3 lens with an 11%VLT, making it a great option for snow. However, Oakley also makes Prizm snow-specific lenses that pair with their Clifden frame that include the Prizm Snow Sapphire and PRIZM Snow Black.
Hi Damien! There are lens options under the PRIZM banner that boast low VLT percentages and offer some relief for people with TBI and high photosensitivity, such as the Prizm Black Polarized (11%), Prizm Deep Water Polarized (12%), & Prizm Road Black (11%). It's difficult to say with authority whether a certain lens will provide enough relief to the wearer without knowing more about the problems associated with the specified diagnosis. BUT you can give us a call and speak with a licensed optician who can answer your questions and help find a reliable solution for your eyewear needs 👉 877.289.2999
why oh why oakley no longer puts those prizm specific stickers on their glasses I was in two shops selling oakleys today and they only put generic "prizm" sticker on, but with 20+ prizm lenses it's impossible to tell unless you are a true prizm aficionado only the prizm road had "road" sticker and that was kinda easy to tell it's the normal road since the road black and road jade look very different sadly not that many oakley shops in Europe so it makes kinda hard to test and choose from all the lenses I read about also the XS variants are non-existant in stores, only online and I am around the 128-132mm SFW so some of the larger XS frames would fit me well I think (sadly the XS lens selection is usually quite limited compared to the full size variants)
Hi there! If you want to cut glare you may want to check out a polarized lens. You can learn more about those here: www.sportrx.com/blog/oakley-prizm-polarized/

Thanks for tuning in and sharing your experience with us!
exactly what was my thinking but the prizm road is very hard to find in normal (non-sport) style frames
oakley sylas I found with prizm road jade but they are a bit too big for me
they should definitely incorporate the prizm road lens in more lifestyle frames for car guys
@@HeadBassVTEC it might be hard to find yes. I have some crossrange model that is not so sport style or big but they are many years old. I don't know if there is some Holbrook or some basic models still also?☺️
@@Wexi1990 Oakley Actuator is some new style made for "casual runners" that has prizm road lens and does not look too sporty (it has some sporty features just thoughtfully incorporated inside casual looking frame style)
it's a bit too big, probably Medium-to-Large at 57/16/137 and SFW 135mm
I guess it's just a matter of time until they make more casual looking prizm road for men as well, sadly the only frame that look kinda ok-ish on me in the normal adult size is the holbrook at sfw 132
I guess I could actually use some of the bigger "kids" frames lol, but they do not do that many lenses for kids as well
I can wear 125-135 but the best for me is 128-130
@@Wexi1990 holbrook I found they make in Prizm Dark Golf which has very close spectrum profile to Prizm Trail Torch which I wanted for MTBing so maybe I'll try that one. Might work for road as well
hi nice video! I play padel which prizm lens do you think is the best for this sport?
The sport line can be used as a daily sunglass? Or should I use the blakc lenses one? Tks.
Hello! I can’t decide to get PRIZM Road or PRIZM Trail for road cycling/concrete bike trails.. please help
Hey if Oakley is listening the trail needs a transition lens version, I don't want to take off my eye protection just cause the sun's down. Or better yet make the RIP cord in xs. Eye protection is paramount. Make the trail as tough as the cord plus bright day/low light transition
How about for beach volleyball? Which Color way should I go for?
I find that the Prizm Road Black acheives great contrast on the sand, especially in bright sunny conditions. If there's marine layer overcast, try out the Prizm Trail Torch.
Read the other day that the morning light help with setting your metabolism that effects even later on your sleep pattern. What spectrum or prizm
What do you recommend for tennis with lens prescription for example with a Gibston ? The field prism ? Or another one ? I often play on red clay court
Notably, the Boss, Det Cord, and Director elite just to name a few. Click on the link below to view other safety options...

Which one should I get for hiking in big mountains and just light cycling on the road? Thinking about prizm road, what you think?
Prizm Road's a great choice! With 20% VLT it will accommodate most lighting conditions as well. Check out the Prizm Trail Torch or Road Jade options too. 🚵♂️
@@sportrxeyewear thank you so much 🙏🏻
No problem! Thanks for watching 🙌
@@sportrxeyewear Apparently I like road black the most. You think those would work too?
For sure! Especially in bright conditions. They may prove too dark for some low-light environments.
Does Oakley have specially designed high index prescription lenses? Or those having the inner prescription frame embedded. Not the otg
Would Prizm Field be good for model helicopter flying? Something dark enough on bright days but bright enough for partly cloudy or overcast to boost the colors.
Can you use prizm road black for everyday use? Or is it so specific for road bike riding it will not look right for casual wear?
Which lens would you suggest for beach volleyball? Prizm field I guess?
Is Prizm road and Prizm field a lot different in terms of view / contrast / light transmission etc ....on the outside their lens tint looks very similar. ..I do have Prizm road to play cricket ( similar to baseball ) and now wondering should I pick up field lens in case its more beneficial
Hello! Both lenses use a rose base tint but the Field has a lower VLT making it ideal for bright light conditions in a sports field setting. Might be a good addition to your collection for Cricket!
What would you recommend for every day use and running. Prizm trail torch or prizm black road?
HI! Prizm Road Black plays more to everyday settings as well as running, especially in bright conditions. But you could do either!

@@sportrxeyewear no it's a dumb question
How would the 24k carat lenses do for road cycling? They look super cool on the matt black frame
Which Oakley PRIZM Sport lens, would you select for the sport of Archery?

Which is best to see the yellow tennis ball on a blue hard court?
Great explanation, thank you.
You are welcome! Glad it was helpful 😎
Plus I live in Queensland where it’s always sunny

Does the visible light spectrum graph have a direct correlation to the VLT of each lens?
They are related, of course! How much light is allowed through the lens dictates the VLT and how much of each color makes it through dictates how much light is making it through. If you want more yellow to make it through the lens, for instance, you will necessarily increase the VLT unless you also decrease the amount you allow another color on the spectrum to make it through. It should be calculable by looking at the graph what the VLT is, but that would take a deeper dive into a number of things.

Can you get golf dark in other frames
Looking for something every day/baseball. Torn between the field lens or the ruby. Any suggestions?
That is a tough choice! The visible light transmission in PRIZM Field is 15% vs 17% in PRIZM Ruby so there is not a huge difference. Another difference is the base tint. PRIZM Field has a rose base and PRIZM Ruby has a bronze base. Both will give you a great contrast boost.

Which prizm lens is best for seeing that yellow tennis ball in super sunny conditions?
PRIZM Field! This lens has a lower VLT which means less light coming through the lens in sunny conditions. However, you still get that amazing contrast to help you spot the ball.
What lens do you recommend for tennis?
Are good for high mountain with or without snow? Thanks 😊
Ok thank you for answer. So is better black lenses. So for what regards deep water? Only for sea?
The Prizm Deepwater was designed for open ocean fishing, however some choose it as their preferred tint for the mountains as well.
Is this good for tbi injury darkness 🤔
Hi Damien! There are lens options under the PRIZM banner that boast low VLT percentages and offer some relief for people with TBI and high photosensitivity, such as the Prizm Black Polarized (11%), Prizm Deep Water Polarized (12%), & Prizm Road Black (11%). It's difficult to say with authority whether a certain lens will provide enough relief to the wearer without knowing more about the problems associated with the specified diagnosis. why oh why oakley no longer puts those prizm specific stickers on their glasses
I was in two shops selling oakleys today and they only put generic "prizm" sticker on, but with 20+ prizm lenses it's impossible to tell unless you are a true prizm aficionado
only the prizm road had "road" sticker and that was kinda easy to tell it's the normal road since the road black and road jade look very different
sadly not that many oakley shops in Europe so it makes kinda hard to test and choose from all the lenses I read about
also the XS variants are non-existant in stores, only online and I am around the 128-132mm SFW so some of the larger XS frames would fit me well I think (sadly the XS lens selection is usually quite limited compared to the full size variants)
