Took me five years to get a tendinitis bursitis diagnosis for my shoulder and this video did it in 5 minutes 😂
@Feel Good Generation X MRI with the dye injected was what finally caught it
@@morganberna A question Did you get it fixed? Cause i have heard you can get permanent damage.
@@nicolasmunoz6799 No, I’ve found doing weight training has been enough to keep the pain manageable and a lot of the time I don’t notice it now (I work a desk job, so I am not having to use my shoulder a lot which is fortunate). I tried a few things: massage, physio, chiro, even cortisone injections - none helped unfortunately.
i dont mean to be off topic but does someone know of a way to log back into an instagram account??
I was stupid forgot the login password. I would appreciate any tips you can offer me
@@morganberna I'm 21 and got it from over use, I'm doing physio and It seems to help, feels like I'm at a last stage with pain that is taking forveer to go, it's been 2 months now. I don't think bursitis is permanent
Omg the pain is mind blowing. About 9 months now. 😭😭
This reminds me of a horrible shoulder experience that I lived with for about a year before it got better. It came from one day of extensive yard work. The next day, I could not raise my arms above my head, button a shirt, or pick up my child. I was miserable. I finally went to an ortho doctor who gave me steroid shots on both shoulders. The pain was noticably less within minutes. The range of motion came back after PT and rock climbing. It took about 2-3 years to get to 95-99% of where I was before the injury. The doctor said it was "frozen shoulders.". That was an awful experience, but I'm glad I came out ok.
You give me hope...working on solutions for about 2 years now..
Thanks this really helps
That sucks. My son is a pitcher in high school and dealing with this. He only has two years left.
Excellent video! We are in our 80's and feel better than ever! Still work for a strong body and a calm mind. Doing some research for our tiny new healthy-aging advice channel. Learned a lot. Keep it going!
Excellent series of videos! Thank u for what u are doing
Fantastic informative fun to watch video. Thank you both!!! Now I know what I am suffering from.
Reaching out to the side & clicking sound are what lead me to the Rehab Doctor diagnosis Tendinitis. Great information!
Great video I have been watching your videos for awhile and they have really been helping me.
Thanks, Most Famous Physical Therapist on the internet. Great Video!!!
It never fails. I'm in the middle of writing a question in the comment section and you go ahead and answer it before I'm done typing.
THANK YOU BRAD!! PAINFUL ARCH SYNDROME I HAVE. Thank you both
I love you guys! I'm always sharing your videos on my page. I have many autoimmune plus I was a dancer and did a lot of sports so my body is a train wreck. Your so helpful love it ❤️🙂
If I may ask what are all the problems you're dealing with. I've got a lot of problems and seem to think I'm the only one.
when in doubt come to Bob and Brad! Every other UA-cam search runs around in circles. This one got to the point and gave me a quick diagnosis. Thanks gentleman thank you thank you thank
You guys have the best videos
Thank You Guy's I have them both, Tanker Truck Driver, Los Angeles, Ca
Thanks a lot for all the information
It helps me to ease the pain
Thank you! You guys are the best!
I was diagnosed with acute acromial bursitis of my shoulder by a physical therapist, which I’ve had in both of my shoulders, but thankfully at different times. I could not bear any form of movement in the affected shoulder/arm, even the slightest movement of my arm or hand caused excruciating pain in my shoulder, bringing me to physical tears. I even had to sit in a chair to try and sleep as I could not lie down. This would come on suddenly or with little to no warning, and would last for at least 4-5 weeks at a time. I would not be able to perform any of the movements you suggest, due to the extreme pain, but found your video to be very explanatory, so I now understand the what and the why now. Great info guys thank you.
Did you do anythign about it? Are you better?
Ok now we know WHAT DO WE DO ?
You are sounding good buddy!
Thank u this is very helpful
I have both on my shoulders, I developed them while having a TB medication along with other arthritis conditions. Everything went away except for my shoulders.
~You guys are the best.
I just had shoulder surgery and thought it was just going to be calcific tendonitis, but my doctor found bursitis and rotator cuff repair. It is one of the most painful things ever, but I’m trying to keep on top of icing, pain medication and PT!
Hi, am having surgery for tendonitis they said i have some fluid there, fir any chance you had that ?
@@ceciliaandrade6122Surgery for tendonitis??? Seems extreme.
I have this, the pain is agonizing. Unbelievable pain for something that seems small. I got it from sleeping with my arm extended under my head. It also comes with pain near the upper scapula/trap area. A severe burning pain. After 7 months the pain finally wasn't as severe but it's still disabling, I can't use my arm for many things and have to recline or the pain flairs up. I wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy
Emelia you just described my pain to the T
Same!! Do you know what you have and how long did it take to get better? I’m going on a week now and it’s a terrible way to live😭
@@Freetobeme8181 My MRI showed supraspinatus tendinosis, bursitis, and some fluid on the joint. All supposedly "mild" but you wouldn't know it by the amount of pain. Much of the pain has finally gone away but my God I never knew an injury could take this long to heal. I believe all that's left now is pain from the scar tissue, which is still very bad and I don't know what to do about.
Have you tried MSM capsules? You can get them on Amazon. It really helped me after 9 solid months of excruciating pain. Good luck to you
@@jflsdknf hey jade what did you do to treat it ?
Thank you So much. You 2 are a great team and thrash talk is all good and years of friendship. I have learnt so much here than any doc or visits. I hope you2 stay humble and keep at it . Changing lives . The key in life is simplicity and knowing your body type. enjoy
Excellent video very clear and informative. I have those symptoms
THANK YOU!!!
Very good video. Had the soreness/achiness sensation in right shoulder (from tennis). Nothing worked for 6 months. PT didn't work, stretching didn't work. Rest didn't work. Finally did PRP and it provided immediate relief.
What is PRP? I'm in agony with shoulder pain!
@@anneboyle2951 PRP stands for "Platelet Rich Plasma." These are "injections." First they draw your blood. Then they "spin" it in a specially designed centrifuge which separates out your rich platelets from the blood plasma. Then they "inject" back into the area injured the platelets. I've had it done on both my left and right shoulder and it's worked in both instances. The doctor directs it via ultrasound so he/she can see exactly where the platelets are being directed. My orthopedic is in Orange County, CA and if you're in the area let me know and I would be happy to recommend him.
@@tensforme thanks so much for that information! Very interesting! And for the recommendation! Unfortunately I'm in Ireland! 😁😚
@@anneboyle2951 Hi Anne you're welcome. Hopefully you can find someone in Ireland who is knowledgeable with PRP! Experience is important too.
@@tensforme it sure is! Will enquire into it anyway and see....thanks again!
Thank you sirs. I was wondering why the tendonitis tests werent working despite the pain in my shoulders. It was bursitis!
I have had bursitis in my left hip for several years and now the last few months my left shoulder is painful and weak - tests positive with your test movements shown here . I don't sleep on my left side at all . What has caused this ? I think some of this shoulder pain is referred pain from my neck as it was bothering me before the shoulder started acting up .
I got that drs but what are the exercises you’d suggest and for how long will I have to live with this tendinitis bursitis? /frozen shoulder?
So how do you treat it? I have in both shoulders and in pain a lot.
😍!!Bob's back!!💓 looking rejuvenated buddy!! I see Napoleon BonAPART is chilling too!! 🤣
Hey you didnt do anything for the rear delt pain either. I started doing exercises that I googled and it helped immensely (couldnt lift heavy weights overhead )
This happens to me! 🥺
Thank I don't have anyone of it. But I have pain at the back of my left shoulder after back workout as my left back was not activating putting a lot of strain on the left shoulder
What are the treatments for bursitis and tendonitis?
BTW, Hi Bob! I know you’re there, I miss you face and your humor!!🙂
I needed this video... but you didn't mention any exercises to help improve the issue
My pain goes down my arm and towards my breast and neck. I was diagnosed with bursitis, tendonitis and something else not only herniations on my cervical spine and down my spine.
I’ve been “diagnosed” with Impinged Rotator cuff since 2017 but it was always hurting, now that it’s gotten a lot worse this year they say I have bursitis and they only give me pain medicine. 😭 I’m not okay
Would Cortozon injection helps elevate the tendonitis bursities pain? If so how long will it be pain free?
Awesome video, however, how do we differentiate the two (bursitis vs tendonitis)? Does it even matter differentiating the two because treatment will be the same regardless?
I think you're correct.
I’ve been having a sharp pain when I move my arm over my head and sometimes it doesn’t hurt is it a tendinitis?
Thanks guys for your videos. I have one of these things you have described going on in my shoulder; could be these two or arthritis or rotator cuff. I have been in much pain for the past couple of days but today for some reason the serious pain has subsided and instead of constant pain I had it's only certain movements. Will these things heal themselves over time or do you recommend a doctor visit which I am really trying to avoid if at all possible?
So did it end up healing on its own ?
@@breezyslive632 Turns out it was my diet that was the culprit. I eliminated sugars and added vegs whole grains-food with lots of fiber and all of my ailments have all disappeared. I feel like I'm in my 30's again and I'm 56.
Have had 5 surgeries on my shoulder already, now have another impingement, possibly number 6 might happen!!! Would I lose total strength all together??
How do you treat it?
hmm. My doctor said it is arthritis and not much they can do about it. It is really enlightening to have a full explanation of what might be going on in both of my shoulders. At 38 I feel like I am way to young for this...
Get an mri if you haven’t already x
Don't feel bad. I'm 23 and been dealing with recurring shoulder pain flare-ups in my dominant arm from tendonitis/ bursitis for the past year. It happened from one aggressive game of air hockey and is aggravated by lots of computer use and sleeping on it. It's a very lame and annoying injury and I feel like im falling apart like some one 3-4x my age would be.😢
I woke up with shoulder pain similar to this. I don’t know what it could have been from because I’ve been doing nothing, just woke up with it. It was during my 1 week break from the gym
How long til therapy helps shoulder? Will physical therapy improve shoulder? 2 weeks 2 months live with?😮
So how do you treat it to get better?
I have pain that goes all the way down my arm concentrating on the interior of my elbow (bicep tendon) and wrist, but the origin point is in my sub-scapula. Do you guys have any videos that would help with that?
I need your help I am in physical therapy possible sirva case. My shoulder is not boothered but my deltoid seems to forever hurt since the covid shot last october. they are concentrating on the shoulder however its more in the deep muscle of the deltoid where the shot was given.
Wait.. so what is the treatment? I definitely have this. I have had my chiropractor work on it(both muscle work and adjustment) with small amount relief and then quickly returns to pain and discomfort.
Arthritis in my neck causing a pinched nerve in my shoulder and all down my arm. Help!!
@@liufox1292 will he k it out. Thank you!
So no clicks, but lifting arm or object causes cramping, stuck in the full spasm phase in bicep and tricep. And, I have a bright red rash that is hot to touch and painful right over the place you direct to using the neck divot as a guide. How do I stretch and regain strength if I keep cramping up?
Should I start w/just doing exercises, or head to see the doc?
I have both shoulders as bad as each other. How do you the exercises when both are so painful
Differentiating tendon/bursitis vs other common shoulder problems?
I have bilateral shoulder pain and tricep pain mainly in left arm any ideas ?
Can you speak about The Elbow tendonits bursts, I have that in my left elbow and I stopped training because of it...please help!!
Did u ever heal and how ?
Please help, my pain appears to be from the bottom of the deltoid there is also a lump there. lifting my arm in any direction hurts but as soon as the weight of my arm is supported its fine...
I have pain with all these and to varying degrees with both shoulders...sooo..I have either tendonitis or bursitis..I think I knew this..but these guys are entertaining..lol
Are those the exercise to fix the problem or just the movement to identify the problem?
I'm 55 used to play a lot of cricket (fast bowler) i packed in about 8 years ago & this year I've started Golf again. Been okay until June & i got shoulder impingement. Been to physio, the exercises haven't helped, i cannot sleep on my right side at all. Painkillers help a bit. Right now it feels like hot coals are inside my rotator cuff 😢 I've got to go back to the doctor as i can barely lift my arm without pain. Its horrible
What if you can't get your hand to the opposite shoulder to do the test? Normally, I would be able to put my hand on the opposite shoulder, but I can't now. Same with the "lift off" test that you showed in another video. I am not able to get my hand on my back (starting position for the "lift off" test), but ordinarily I would be able to do that. I also cannot get my arm in a 90 degree angle with my hand downward (like the driving hand signal for stop). Instead, my arm stops when it's parallel to the ground. I went to urgent care, and they thought it might be dislocated, but the Xray came back normal. They sent me to an Orthopedic surgeon in their network (which I saw the Physician's Assistant). He said it was Bursitis and gave me a cortisone injection.I had 2 incidents. 6 days ago, I was in bed, and I reached above my head to pull my Purple pillow (has some weight to it). It felt like I had a slightly pulled muscle. 3 days ago, I was eating a cashew as I plopped down into my recliner (I might have been twisting too to pick up my laptop off the end table) during this motion. I felt a pop in the top of my shoulder. I do have an appt with my normal orthopedic surgeon next week. With all of these tests, I wonder what it means if you can't get into the starting position for the test.
sadly i think i have a rotator cuff injury, i crashed my bike and landed on my shoulder, inducing the first pain that hasnt stopped for well over 2 weeks now, and then did a bunch of heavy lifting around the house to help out my mother.
Ooh yes I have it it’s so painful ,,
I know this isn’t relevant for what the video is about but Ives has extremely sore legs since a workout session focusing on my legs. I’ve tried foam rolling and it worked for a while and felt a little relieved but after that it just went back to how it was. What do you think I could do to help?
Rest
I got it ,now what to do, doctor?
How do you treat it I have had it for 2 MOs 😢
I have a swollen lump where the bursitis pain is does this go away with rest and massage?
Maybe this will help someone, an alternative cure. I started having some mild pain in my right shoulder after I started doing overhead push-ups with some small weights. I researched and found out that it was probably bursitis.
One thing that one site said is that there needs to be blood flow to that area. Well, I know that magnets, therapeutic magnets, increase blood flow.
I taped a therapeutic grade magnet, high gauss, North pole side facing the skin, onto the area of pain. Within 24 hours the pain was gone.
Once I had a surgeon to tell me that I needed surgery for pain in my right shoulder. This was not when I was doing those exercises. I’m not sure what was causing the pain at that time, but I put a magnet over the area then too. And the pain went away and I did not need the surgery.
My shoulder has a pain that never goes away. Ive had xrays their is no damage, it doesnt hurt to use it in any way but theirs a pain on my shoulder that hurts ALL day everyday. Docs dont know what it can be? Any ideas? The last time i saw my doc. He said it was bad posture? But the pain has been with me for over a year now with no resolution 😢
I have an 8 week old fracture of upper humerus. No one seems to know why I still can not raise my arm even 1 inch while laying down. I can bend at elbow fine. Even can pull shoulder up off bed but with arm straight by my side I can absolutely not move it up and only tiny bit to side. Any thoughts, Please??
I have problems on both of my sholders.. I dont know what the problem is. I even cant write. My fingers get slipped. Cant hold mobile phone.. always feels like something is bitting my wing muscle.
Bob and Brad I’m 20yrs old and when I walk my back slightly cracks (middle left/lower left) what do I do; please help.
Also when lift my left leg I can’t lift it up slowing/smoothly I just end up going fast/jumpy.
I was told that I have bursitis antenna the night is I don't know so a SLAP tear and I also have a bone spur all in my right shoulder
What can I do
I’ve had this pain in both shoulders for 2 years now
And diagnosed with bursitis
Tendonitis and impingement syndrome
I don’t exercise at all because it kills
I tried pt and it made it worse
What exercises do you recommend for these three problems? Thank you!
I second that question. Have you made a video covering recommended treatment options for these conditions?
They made one 2 yrs ago called Critical Steps to Cure Shoulder Tendonitis, Bursitis or Impingement. Didn't see a more recent video, but I could have just missed it.
SURE
Great video, but how do I fix it?

i have a lot of pain in front shoulder. physiotherapy, chiropractor nobody can diagnose it. it hurts when i push my shoulder forward, or when i put my arm behind my back. physiptherapy hasnt helped at all so far. any ideas?
How did it start
@@silverfullbuster9177 i don’t know it came on slowly, It sped up when I was reaching up for exercise one day but that’s it. Physio say rotator cuff. Osteopath says ac joint. Chiropractor says it’s a problem with my neck. GP says venerable wear and tear. None seem to be able to fix it
I've had De Quervanes tendonitis in my wrist for 5 months now with excruciating pain. I had a cortisone injection in my wrist 4 wks ago. A couple days later I had a cortisone flare up, but not only in my wrist, my whole arm was flared up I couldn't move it at all. It was painful like it was broken. Four weeks later, which is now, I still have excruciating pain and can't hold anything or do anything. The doctors gave me a splint. I had an x-ray and ultrasound last week which showed tendonitis and bursitis in my arm. They also said the tendon had a big tear in it. Well that was it. They said physical therapy may help but I didn't get any exercises. It's too late sore to put my arm behind my back but I can do the massaging one with my arm straight out. I am in terrible pain for five months between my wrist and arm.
Nerve run to my shoulder to elbow after my arm move i don’t now iam worried
I just tell people I have itis (old people's pains)
My pain is in the upper arm, not shoulders.
Can't lift my arm
Sure
What if you cross your arm over, lift your elbow no pain, but if you add resistance when trying to lift the elbow you feel pain?
I had bursitis at 24. An orthopaedic surgeon gave me a shot.of Bute (the pain went away almost immediately, stayed away and never came back) Until now at 75, I don't know if it's bursitis. I definitely have that pain under the bone at (almost) the end of my shoulder, but it also goes up my neck. I also have pain in outside middle of my shoulder blade (outside meaning towards the spine) If I walk my fingers straight up I arrive at the point of the pain in my neck
I can lift things, even heavy things. The worst pain comes from washing the dishes. It's pretty much a circular or back and forth motion. The pain becomes excruciating to be point of tears. I THINK I got this doing the side plank in the McGill big 3. (Sorry Dr. McGill). Anyone? Thanks in advance.
I wish the steroid shots worked for me iv tried different kinds but no more.
How do I test if I've got it in both shoulders? UGH!
ok but treatment? Mine is hurting the first move you made. Not just ice?
Forgot to mention I also have a arthritis in my shoulder as well as tendonitis, arthritis, a tear in the tendon and a tear in the rotator cuff. Huge problem, it's now in BOTH arms for months. Have been able to drive for 5 months or even hold anything, not even a cup of coffee. Will these exercises help? 😭😭😭
Yes! I put my cup on the table with a straw and lean over to drink! Abby this is awful.
@@ggstorm9777 Who is Abby?
How to treat it
Since I've been working from home, because of the pandemic, I've been sitting, working at kitchen table. I think the position of my keyboard, angle of arms, all relative to height of table is reeking havoc on both shoulders. Esp the shoulder that hasnt been "frozen" before. Just doing as you said arm out, palm out is uncomfortable. I need to get to a p.t. ha
Your videos help me a lot as a registered massage therapist to do an excellent job for my patients. God bless you guys!
How are you? I'm going through the same thing remote work 3yrs taken a toll on shoulders dud pt help?
I was just diagnosed with this today the pain was horrible had to get a cortisone shot
Yall are mind readers, too. My shoulder has been acting a fool.
Nice Video! Sorry for chiming in, I would appreciate your thoughts. Have you researched - Schallingora Font Storage Scheme (should be on google have a look)? It is a smashing one off product for getting rid of your shoulder pain without the hard work. Ive heard some super things about it and my work buddy at last got excellent success with it.
Rotating my arm backwards (like a swimming backstroke) causes mostly painless clicking in my shoulder. Doesn’t do it rotating forwards. Doesn’t seem to fit with any of the conditions I’ve seen videos on except maybe a loose joint?
You ever figure out what that was ? Similar situation
i thought my arms and shoulders were normal i thoguht it was normal to have pain in shoulder all the time till i realized it wasnt and i prob have bursitis. Its a bruise like pain in the side of my shoulder going down to my bicep. That whole area hurts
I've had shoulder pain for two years and do the tests without any pain being I caused but there's a slight discomfort, shoulder feels tired more than sharp pain or a loss of ability to control
How to fix the problem?
