If anyone's curious Part 1 (Reversed version) 0:00 Part 1 (Both this and the above are mostly just random organ/guitar noises and cymbals) 0:36 Part 2 (A kinda upbeat Syd-era-esque instrumental with some cymbals at the end) 1:12 Part 3 (Dialogue covers the music. Bird noises are audible) 2:36 Part 4 (Same thing, but with Rick's organ instead of bird noises) 5:17 Part 5 (More dialogue in the way, The music is basically a bass drone with some annoying plucky (i think) organs) 6:41 Part 6 (Dialogue. Starts with screechy guitar before going into Rick's distinctive organs) 8:47 Part 7 (Early Careful With That Axe Eugene Recording. Dialogue still covers it) 9:37 Part 8 (A peaceful instrumental track with nice guitar and organ. Only one line of dialogue) 12:15 Parts 2 and 8 are in the early years box set, but it's on the disc exclusive to the $500 box itself :(
I just realized Part 8 is "You and Who's Army" by Radiohead. - ua-cam.com/video/QQnc-hM80UQ/v-deo.html Interesting! I don't think it was "stolen", but more of an example how musicians can often be influenced, often without even knowing it! Pretty cool!
Thankyou for sharing this, I really enjoyed the dialogue as well as the music. Nice to hear, "Careful..." and what sounds like a similar refrain from "Summer '68", at the end. Love early Floyd, so this was a treat.

@harty1344 This is very interesting. If Syd contributed to the recording (which we suspect he did, but we cannot be sure), he did so as a member of Pink Floyd. What do you mean by "both competed for the contract"? Can you elaborate on that?
It is unfortunate, information about this soundtrack, whether Pink Floyd made studio recordings before being used for films or had Master recordings before becoming soundtracks. even now I have never listened to the 2 channel stereo version without dialogue like the film itself. I think this is the sweetest work of Pink Floyd

Awesome why was this not released in full on their latest boxset "The Early Years" & on Germination '68 ????? Rather than a couple of snippets on Continuation which U could only get if U bought the whole expensive boxset.
I agree they should've included at least the slow Committee theme (so pretty) and also the March '68 TV instrumental audio on the Germination disc. Most of these film pieces, though, have too much talkover for a listening experience.
That would make a superb Record Store Day release! (Sadly, it looks like the Committee masters are lost, but it would make an interesting curiosity item, dialogue and all...)
You know what I realized recently, thinking about that again - that might've been impossible for one reason: Syd would be on "San Francisco". This was after his official dismissal, so they probably wanted to avoid that entirely.
@@bryantcuriel1641 spot on-it's a shame he's not credited other than an e.m. i. sheet of paper recording that he took pink floyd evening session recording for this soundtrack!

If it's any consolation, the tracks on the box set are sourced from the film audio, too. So you're not missing exclusively better quality.

one of the greatest underrated films of its genre and its time-only because the more I listen -the more its timeless
Just found this relic! They should have put this on a CD, which has a lot of space, as a bonus. The end segment (start 12:16) is a real killer.
Its awesome

I agree, it would have been a fitting bonus to More.
Anything SYD is GOLD✨✨
Syd's not on this, Gilmour is. This was recorded shortly after Syd was kicked out of the band.

CAREWFUL.
Wish this had been a EP released in the 60s.
The Zabriskie Point soundtrack should have been released in the 60s too, it's better than Ummagumma.
Agreed. I’m a huge Floyd nut, but the studio lp of Ummagumma rarely gets play at my house.
Sadly, EPs were being phased out in 1968, else this would have gotten a release in that format.
6:42 the guitar makes me think of Sheep or the beginning of Shine On You Crazy Diamond Part 6.
You're right, but isn't that the bass ?

Is this actually Pink Floyd or is it the soft machine because it sounds kind of like it could be them. If it’s Floyd is it Syd on guitar or Gilmour.
John Menanno it’s actually Floyd and it’s Dave on guitar as this was recorded in 1968, hope this helps
"If it’s Floyd is it Syd on guitar or Gilmour." Yeah, who else? But it's Gilmour.
From what I can hear and what some have said the first half is Syd the 2nd half is david
