Club Kids: How The Mafia And Drugs Came To Dominate Manhattan And Miami Nightlife In The 90's.

  • In the 1990's, Manhattan's booming dance club scene was hit by two massive trends: Ecstasy and Techno. With the eye-patch wearing Canadian nightlife impresario Peter Gatien standing watch, massive clubs like limelight and Sound Factory became debaucherous drug dens ruled over by the ever-weirder club kids. Soon enough, though, a techno pioneer who would later go on to be involved with Wu Tang Clan saw the potential for massive profits and brought in roughneck junior mafia farm teams from south Brooklyn and Staten Island and things starting getting dark, quick. An infamous tabloid murder, a massive mafia bust and a lurid drug kingpin trial followed, but not before some of the major players relocated to Miami for a bit and made a name for themselves there. Once some former associates started talking, however, it all came crashing down, not just for Chris Paciello, but for the top level five family bosses he testified against.

Amazing times. Me & my friends used to pay Gatien (not directly obviously) to deal out of the phone booths near the entrance. If you bought amazing blue & whites E-gels or half moons in the early 90s at Limelight or Tunnel, they were from that crew. Flown in weekly from Holland 25,000 at a time via DHL.(not by me of course) 200 bottles of real deal Ketaset a week from a Vet hookup. Crazy shit went down in those places.

Why is the party monster and history of nyc nightlife so intriguing ?! I’m addicted to these stories. I’ve been clubbing in nyc since early 2000’s. Never made it to Tunnel, sound factory, palidium or limelight. I’ve attended pacha, Latin quarters, webster hall, and all the bk clubs

Club kids were lame as hell but I don’t think they were banned from raves they just never left the tunnel and limelight. The rave scene wasn’t about that look at me nonsense and our lives didn’t revolve around Manhattan. We traveled all over the place for raves and if there was nothing going on we would go to the clubs in Manhattan and roll our eyes at those idiots in their stupid costumes. They were just drug addicted attention whores. Look at how NYC I am. 🤮

It was a CIA construct. All of it. Ask James Alifantis. Funny how these kids all lived and worked together throughout all this programming and no one noticed. And how many became famous in Hollywood.

Ironically the club kids are the original LGTB community. Openly accepting everyone with all kinks and not. My uncle told me when he was growing up the club kids where like the main people repressing the community openly and willing

@@josemendez-fd5qz He killed a person and cut up the body. Micheal and his family were part of something deeper and darker then you could probably understand. He openly bragged about being a chicken hawk and raping younger youths in the club laughing about it. The entire lgbtq thing is to make it legal for these kind of crimes upon children. Want better insight, look up Paul Bonnaci and the Franklin Files. They use youths that partake in this in snuff films. It's too much for me to think about. But, Micheal was not a good person, or roll model. He was obviously taken out like Alifantis. Be careful. It's not something to celebrate, especially right now.

The club kid scene is the love child born from the type of drugs popular in that point in history and the synthetic/electronic/ repetitive beats that were created by the DJs at the time and then played in the big clubs all over the country back then .

You should do one on the rave scene in Phoenix Arizona in the mid and late 90s . There was such a big scene involving Sammy the bull, Mexican gangbangers and a dude from the UK (Sean Atwood). Plus so much other things went down. I mostly remember all the fun I had back then. Best of times.

@@MbisonBalrog they were mostly young artists that liked to dress up and go out to clubs. They became known in NYC first then it seemed like their were club kids in every city. It really exploded when Geraldo had them on his show in 1991. Michael Alig, Rupaul, Richie Rich and Amanda Lepore were all guests and the audience was made up of mostly nightlife people. In a nutshell a club kid was a nightlife personality.
