I appreciate all the comments and giving me more about the lore from the books. I’m a miss your comments but if you interested I’m doing Harry Potter movie reactions and will work on Lord of the Rings next
I genuinely had tears in my eyes, when I was listenning Alyn's speech to Corlys 😢😢😢 The one thing is not recognizing him and Addam, it's understable Corlys didn't want to show he had Princess for wife and betrayed her, but he still could secretly pay for his illegitimate children well being. Fact Alyn and Addam were growing poor, when Corlys was literally walking next to the with Laenor dreessed in rich clothes, it's truly heartbreaking 💔💔💔And after his children's death, Corlys could keep Lucerys as heir and at the same time acknowledge his remaining sons as bastards, that could coexist, but he didn't do even that.
They definitely tried paralel Alicent's choice with Helaena's at beggining of season. Helaena was force to give up on her son to protect her daughter and Alicent now also gives up on her son/s (they were talking only about Aegon, but no way Aemond would get pardon from Rhaenyra) wishing to protect her daughter and granddaughter.
On more positive note, what I do like this season are very accurate representations of such characters like Baela, Corlys and Addam. Baela wasn't doing much in that moment of story (before battle of King's Landing), we actually have only one paragraph in book for this: "Lady Rhaena’s twin, Baela, remained on Dragonstone. Long betrothed to Prince Jacaerys, she refused to leave him, insisting that she would fight beside him on her own dragon...though Moondancer was too small to bear her weight". Just two sentences but you can read from them that Baela was confident, brave, and that she was fiercely loyal to Jacaerys, willing to risk her life for her fiance. They captured this PERFECTLY ❤🔥They actually changed Moondancer size, making her bigger, and Baela's role more active, as they fly on patrols already, but that is welcomed change (it was cool to see Moondancer! 😍), as this does not change who Baela was: daring and confident girl, fully dedicated to her stepmother and stepbrother's cause.🥰❤🔥❤🔥❤🔥 Corlys was also depicted accurately, as man who felt weight of his family loses and contemplated abandoning Rhaenyra's cause, until being swayed by his grandchild (albeit different grandchild than in book, as in source material it was Jacaerys not Baela, though Baela no doubt supported this mission given her fierce dedication to Rhaenyra and Jace). And Addam is simply 💋😍 - I loved everyting about him! He is bit older than in book, in 20s rather than teenager, but he is courageous and loyal just like in source material. And he also has this sympathethic aura about him (and cherry at top - he is also incredibly handsome 😁🤩)💞💞
Corlys was one of my favorite characters this season along with his sons which in my opinion needed more screen time. One of my main complaints was they would show the after effects of battles instead of showing us the battles and giving us more action.
39:24 - Depends on King. Some do acknowledge their bastard children, some not. Even if Corlys never acknowledge his sons, he could still give them regular money.
I was genuinely thinking Aemond gonna kill Helaena in that scene on tower, because there were leaks and I saw one comment saying Helaena fell from height and before I watched episode I heard there was uproar, and I thought it was because changes from source material 😂😂😂😂 I though that either he will kill her in that scene or that he will forece her to ride Dreamfyre and she will fell from dragon... But she made it out alive 😅 I was really mentally ready for some BIG changes... and then literally none of my predictions happened. 😆 From one part I am happy that they stick to source material and Helaena is alive, because the more you deflect from source material, the less logical story becomes... but on other hand I think that would be change whcih would make episode very epic, like Baela riding her dragoness (who was in book still too young) earlier this season. This episode was much more book accurate than I expected... but that also made it more boring than I expected. Turns out it is really hard to have cake and eat cake 🍪😅
Lohar person in book was man, in show he apparently is tomboy biological woman (and played by trans woman). They were pretty creative in their adaptation choice here 😅😅

Rhaena arc is disaster in this season. Main problem with her and this wild dragon Sheepstealer is that... in book Sheepstealer was claimed by another Dragonseed, dark-skinned girl 👩🏾 of mysterious ancestry called Nettles who later formed close bond with Daemon. Rhaenyra disdained Nettles, thought Nettles does not have any Targaryen ancestry and bewitched dragon to serve her, she also suspected Nettles has affair with Daemon. In meantime, Princess Rhaena was not hunting for wild dragons, but was living her best life in Vale, far away from war, growing into graceful young Lady, forming friendship with Lady Jeyne and waiting for her egg to hatch. She also did not abandon her little brothers, who were sent straight to Pentos by Jacaerys. In this season everything suggest they attempt to erase Nettles, by giving Sheepstealer to Rhaena, since she is dark skinned in show and it cheks diversity boxes without need to hire another actress. It also seems that Rhaena abandoning her brothers sets up arc of Queen Rhaenyra resenting Sheepstealer's rider (albeit for entire different reasons). At least this is how thing look - it is teachnically possible since Rhaena did not claim dragon by end of episode and giving fan backlash, in season 3 they will bring Nettles and Rhaena will discover Sheepstealer alreday has rider, but it seems chance is slim. As for now, it appears the only thing Rhaena has common with her book counterpart, just like in case of Alyn Velaryon, is name. 😑
They probably wanted leave season at happy note for Rhaenyra this time in contrast to season 1 finale - because the next ting that should happen is great battle that will be victorious for Team Black but at terrible cost: one of family member will die and another will go missing and presumed dead (they will return eventually to Westeros, but afterlong after Dance will end). In book one of Team Black leader hearing congratulations on "victory" said: "If this be victory, I pray I never win another". Another reason for leaving season like could be budget managment. They could technically reverse order of events and show us Rhaenyra's taking Kings' Landing (not spoiler - we saw her sitting on Iron Throne in Daemon's vision, so she take King's Landing), but it seems that depicting multiple dragons in once place once again was above means producers had. So we got quite acurate - but also quite boring and frustrating ending for show. Arc of this season is concluded in book in that way: "Thus did Prince Jacaerys achieve his goal. For all the death and pain it caused, the widows left behind, the burned men who would carry their scars until the day they died, four new dragonriders [Addam, Ulf, Hugh and Nettles] had been found. As 129 AC drew to a close, the prince prepared to fly against King’s Landing. The date he chose for the attack was the first full moon of the new year".
Agree that it is more like PG 13 Game of Thrones, but to be honest, one of reason I don't want to watch GoT is this whole brutality and too much strong scenes as of my taste. 😂😂😂😂 I would say that HotD is more like tv shows about Royal families, if those families had dragons. i agree with you though that seaosn 1 was better. There were many intersting things from lore that could be incorporated into show and weren't, and there were many scenes in show that were completely pointless. Scene where Alicent went to swimming - why it was there? Viewers already know she feels depressed and remorseful. Why not give this scene to Rhaena and Lady Jeyne, why not shine light on their book arc? Why not show Prince Daeron? Why keep reducing Jacaerys arc of being skillful diplomat and negotiator and promising king-in-making? Many Alicent's scenes were completely useless and could be given to other characters. I liked the most episode 1-5. Episode 6 was weaker, episode 7 left me divided (dragons were cool, show version of Jace was not cool) and finale is... okay, but it should be mid-season episode, not finale. They should have do something more epic at end.
I agree with you but I would add that they tried to make Rhaenyra and Alicent sympathetic and be more good then what they are in the books and I didn’t like that I wish they would just copy the books and not try to change the story. Why not make them more ruthless and brutal also alicent going to meet Rhaenyra and give up her fight and sons was dumb
@@DollarBoiEnt I think Alicent going to Dragonstone was at least consisent with character they created. To me it was less controversial than Rhaenyra going to King's Landing - Rhaenyra is claimant queen and if she was captured all would be over, Alicent in Dragonstone wouldn't change situation, as she is not claimant.
From myself - I thank you for those reactions, it was nice time for me to watch them weekly 💕. Hopefully we catch again next season! 💗💗💗

@@DollarBoiEnt That is true too! As I said, less Alicent praying and swimming and more light on younger characters 😆
