    Brushing that flaunching will just leave it open to the elements, I was always taught to use a 2.5 to 1 mix and polish it when it had nearly gone of leaving it as smooth as possible, same with benching in manholes.

      Answer ya own question sue, in a manhole ya want the water to roll off the benching back into the pipes, don’t want the soot rolling back into the chimney and down back into the fire, ya would rather it get trapped at the exit point 😌

      Allo mate ..smooth finish exposes the fillit stresses the fillit ,brushed finished takes the stress off ever 1 point sends the water in never 1 spot

    another amazing video, I hope that those that know have picked up on the lining bricks are LBC a company that doesn't exist anymore and have been a bone of contention on SkillBuilder. Shows how old they are .

    Spot on Dean, nice bond and setting out. Think if it was me on the dogtooth course instead of the soft reds I would’ve used an imperial blue. Knowing that in 100 years time I’ll be back up there replacing them 😂.

    Nice. I hope more people now get to know the importance of lime in pre 1920 buildings. I get a bit frustrated myself trying to explain to people sometimes .

    Yes I was going to comment on the fact you were so insistent on keep a proper bond,then you said about cutting in closets,which I tend to do on piers ect 👍

    Why the 3/4 and header in the face . Pointless tying into the 'wiffs' ..... They never used to in the old days . They relied on good old gravity . Keep it simple . 👍🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

      Sorry mate but you’re incorrect…awkward points they stretcher bonded and scratched the false joint in as you was able to do so as the stocks wore cooked at leaser temp .
      This method is passed down to me from generations dating back to 1731
