Im not being funny but I bet that wall isn't up now how rough, fill your frogs and perps dude 🤬🤬🤬🤬 and recommend a proper brick to the client they shouldn't be in a retaining wall
@@fireblaster9961 yes indeed, this wall would have to be taken down if anyone like the NHBC inspected it. And whats up with the frog down, never frog down otherwise it’ll crack even quicker once damp gets to it because of having no dpc course or engineering bricks.

Been bricklaying all my life , I’m 62. Nothing wrong with this job at all. Very nice on the eye. This lad tries hard and gets it right. Believe you me, I’ve worked on sites where there’s rough work and this wall is well decent. Love the vids mate.

Neat job mate 👍.... I've found that flemish bond is more suited to radial /serpentine walling as the half bat between the stretchers allows you to navigate the radius better whilst also allowing the perps / cross joints to be more uniform in width.... 👍
I have a question......well two actually and its a genuine question not a critisism; on the perp joints why do you only spread a tiny amount an the front face and the back, why leave a void in the middle and I know it isn't because the mortar fills the middle when you lay the brick because there is insufficient mortar to do that? And why are some laid frog up and some frog down?
what area do you work in? You do good work. I am 73. Enjoy your videos. My Dad was a bricklayer back in 30's and 40's He said the bricklayers wore shirt and tie, plus the better ones did the corners and would get a sixpence more a week.
Bit gobby and a poser . Didn’t fill perps up on the brick on edge which will cause voids which fill with water eventually resulting in frost damage, perps on stretcher bond the same , call yrself professional be professional .
Class mate, not enough good tradesmen round out way in Essex. I find it easier to peg a few batons along the trench, then get the laser level out and mark my footing height of off the laser line (usually measuring down off the laser line). Found it to be a bit quicker and more accurate than oppose to using a level. can get it to the mil if you’ve got ocd like me 😂😂 Lovely work though 👌🏻
Try not to comment on videos like this but I’ll make an exception this time , mainly because the video is initially based upon work being carried out to a poor standard , and this video is then supposed to show how to do it correctly . You couldn’t have used a worse brick for a garden wall . London bricks aren’t allowed to be used below dpc on a house because they rot and blow . To use them on a garden wall is a big mistake . The faces will start blowing off in no time . You could have got a match for the house by using London replica bricks . Same face but on a traditional clay perforated brick instead . Shame as fairly neat and tidy other than being a bit behind on half bond and the perps out a little .
7:35 WHat? Look at the variation in perps, frogs not filled and sliding what looks like a rich sand mix under bricks with hardly any tapping down. Show us this wall in 5 years after some frosts. Disgraceful. Can't believe people are being kind.
