That is oversimplifying it. There were ground attack varients of the 23. Like the MiG-23BN, which were primarily exported. That is what is in the game atm
Speaking of playing tanks that you maybe wouldnt have wanted to, could you play IL-2 Sturmovik as a career series again? its been a while (like 2-3 years since a career) and i just wanted to see if you could so its ok if you dont.
Needed to do an exhaust smoke screen when you retreat as it makes you harder to see other than if they use thermal. Almost all tankers use this if they turn around and show a clean pair of heels to an advancing unit coming towards them and they are retreating.
@@TacticsWithJoe it is because the commander in the PT-76 is also the gunner and in order to find the range of a target he was to switch out of his gunners sight and to his TPKU-2 binocular periscope And since gunner heat pc doesn't devide crew roles yet as that is something the developer's will expand into the future. So right know you're stuck with the gunners sight and not able to use the TPKU-2

Yea you dint wanna be engaging M60's with pt76. 200 mm heat doesn't really affect them lol It would be cool to see a buoyancy mechanic added and and actually use BMP's and now the PT-76 for their somewhat intended purpose
@@Bendejo301 yk, I was just running the the simulation in my mind and my fingers must've slipped. What I said was 200 mm heat, implying a heat shell that size. What I meant is a heat shell that can penetrate 200 mm lol
In many Soviet tanks, if you really need to retreat in a hurry, you don't have much choice, as their reverse speed can be awfully slow in some models. Don't know if this is true for the PT-76, but it is true for T-72s.
US vehicles are basically point and click and are kinda boring, except for the coincidence rangefinder m60 which is a terrible terrible optic that is just frustrating. The Soviet vehicles have more flaws or idiosyncrasies that require building skills to get around which definitely makes them harder to use and therefore more fun to figure out how to employ effectively. I wish they didn’t ignore making red force missions so much. Clear blue force mission bias at the moment.
Hitting anything at 1,2 km with a PT-76 is quite a joke ! considering their awful targeting system, they probably would have missed a cow in the same barn... and also their armor cannot stop a 12,7mm caliber bullet...
Its "one one three", not "one thirteen". You sound like my mom when you say it like that. Unfortunately this game fails the simulation test because the AI is completely brain dead. The PT 76 is easily defeated by an M113 if they don't try to go toe to toe. This game use them like AFVs, when they are scout vehicles typically. The PT76 is considered a crap AFV in its day, primarily because it had paper thin armor. Too slow to be a good scout, can't fight MBTs, breaks down a lot. Second rate in every role. At least the brass didn't expect an M113 to fight like a tank. This game seemed really promising at first, but the tactics used are completely ahistorical. It feels like you are alone on a battle field, and IRL it was anything but that. Typcially use (in the cav) was to get the tanks set up in overwatch, and one lone M113 moves through an open area. Anyone shoots at him gets fire from four MBTs. The game has NOTHING like that, when bounding overwatch is a core tactic in the military. And likely players of this game are oblivious to that.
"We have an attacker overhead!"
"Is it a 23 or a Tornado?"
"Uh... it has swing wings and a single tail?"
"That's not helping, buddy."

What do you think about more modern tanks, T72 with cumulative screens for example, or M1A2 Abrams?
the T72 is not really compliable to any Abrams expect maybe the first model with the 105mm
the t72 is derived from the T-64 a tank that started development in the late 1950's and the t72 entered adopted by the soviet army in August 7, 1973
while the Abrams started development in the late 1970's and adopted by the US army in 1980
also the T-72 was seen by the soviet army as a "mobilization model" and a tank that could be made quickly and a lot of spare parts for it . and something for the troops that was not the best but still useable and a tank that could quickly arm the soviet army
with was very the opposite for the T-64 and T-80 that got a lot more advanced systems
example in 1976 the T-64B was put into production a got the 1A33 FSC that has fully automatic lead calculation and also could use the kobra gun launched ATGM
and in 1978 the T-80B would get the same system
also the autoloader's in the t64B and t80B inwards could move in both direction's making the reload time much shorter
and the T-72 on the other hand was not given anytime like the 1A33 FSC
I would be interested in seeing the fire suport hits.
