Well, you need the money for Hired Aid, but Scholar Tressa (or Merchant Cyrus, I guess, but he doesn't get free money for walking) has access to 11 out of 12 weaknesses by herself (only missing Darkness)
I'm playing Therion lead and getting good results from using HP thief and Steal SP because both attacks provide 2 hits, so it's super useful for breaking enemies and does double damage for one BP cost. It's easily overlooked but super useful and strong.
i started out with Therion , Cyrus , Teressa , Ophillia , Aflyn , Ha'aanit , Olfric , Primrose. but that means the latter are the weakest party members so I got to spend heavy grinding on the latter. before progressing further on their story.I wish the non active party members can level up too when not using them.
It's sold over 4 million copies worldwide and is not underrated at all. It's definitely not as mainstream in the west as FF or Persona, but those are a lot more flashy, so that's to be expected.
During like Latergame I have H'aanit (Warrior 43 Main), Ophilia (Scholar 42), Alfyn (Dancer 39), Theorion (Merchant 41) H'aanit and Ophilia both have all skills for both main and secondary jobs, while Alfyn has all but the 2 Divine Skils, and Theorion has all but the secondaries Divine. H'aanit has Summon Strength, Eagle Eye, Second Serving, and Patience Ophilia has Inner Strength, Percipience, Vim and Vigor, and Elemental Augmentation Alfyn has Inspiration, Heightened Healing, Hale and Hearty, and Encore Therion has Grows on Trees, Fleetfoot, Inner Strength, and Summon Strength.
I prefer Alfyn to Cyrus because while yes he can heal he also has the ability to give party wide SP restores and BP restores making him easily the best support in the game. I use him with Merchant secondary and Ophelia with Dancer secondary as support then H'aanit with Warrior for Physical damage (Warmaster later) and Therion with Scholar and later Sorcerer for magic damage.
Interesting set up. I think the ability to try lots of different set ups is one of the games strengths....I've got Octopath Traveler 2 but I've not got around to playing it yet, I have a huge backlog but I can't wait to play it
I can't justify not having alphyn in the party fr concoct. It's way more than just healing. In fact I rarely use it for healing. I mainly use it for BP boost which is broken and breaks every now and then and sp boosting the team if needed. He can also mass remedy stat debuffs good for when your whole team gets blinded or put to sleep etc.
My A team is Therion/Warmaster, Tressa/Runelord, Alphyn/Cleric for elemental reflect which is broken when boosted with Primerose/Sorcerer divine skill and concoct which is one of the most useful and OP skills in the game, his ability to boost the whole teams bp is worth it alone. Primrose can also alure which has a lot of potential. Full enfeblement is nice or steel defence. Also this team does not require analyze because warmaster hits all enemies wil every weapon in the game and Rune lord hits a single enemy with every elemental damage. The two things are way better than analyze. Therion works with warmaster because he can steal sp and can spam skills. Primroses divine skill works well with the elemental reflect skill. Cleric is nessesary for the divine skill as well which is broken with sorcerer. Therion is also just nice to have around fro steal and opening the purple chests. Tressa runelord is just an easy layup too many uses to mention. This team is mostly focused around boosting therion and primrose to do their maximum damage. Tressas ability to give your team sidestep and alphyns ability to give the whole team elemental reflect can make you invulnerable even against the hardest enemies.
I've been looking for a party setup guide that includes all 8 characters. Unfortunately this is just another incomplete one with only 4 characters. I cant imagine not playing the game with all 8 characters most peoples settups dont say what classes to pick on all characters so they are pretty much useless. What classes I pick for the remaining 4 characters will depend on the other 4 so I need a complete guide. I got my hopes up with the word "ultimate". But I do appreciate someone making videos for this game. Sadly it seems like I havent found any octopath 1 videos in a very long while.

I just started and picked him on accident and I'm loving this hero. 😊

Thanks for the video. Writing just to boost the video with the algorythm. I love Octopath Traveler.

I can definitely see the benefits of making Alfyn a cleric. That's the great thing about this game, it's got such high replayability 😀

Aww no, I'm sorry! I'll change the title to 'best' instead of 'ultimate'...I don't want to mislead people 😞 - Heather
