I haven't played any other Mana game and only played the demo for this game but I had a good time and I enjoyed the music. I was actually surprised by the music typical in the Mana series and how this one is different, I wouldn't have noticed it at all. Still happy that I can play this game first before diving into the other ones and not have it be ruined with expectations.
I still want to get this game at some point. But based on what youre saying this is basically Final Fantasy X..... without the actual "oh no, sacrifice is bad and we dont vibe with this nonsense at all" payoff. in fact... main character acts as guard to the sacrificial lamb... not doing your duties results in being scorned and even punished... gathering Aeo-- I mean Elementals... Is this the Mana version of FFX?? *edit* it is a bit jarring when music is brought up and then examples of the Secret of Mana remake are used as "good" examples. The music arrangement/remixes for the remake were... actually pretty bad compared to the original. Obnoxiously loud in places where it was supposed to be more relaxing or tame. You have a point if you compare it to the original OSt though.
I can't really comment on the FFX comparison because I've only played FF7 and FFXV 😞 Whether it's worth playing depends on what you are looking for as a gamer....if you are looking for a meaningful story and emotional depth then I would look elsewhere, it's very shallow
@@Amalgamingle Well, to summarise the plot of FFX briefly (without story-critical spoilers): main hero finds himself swallowed by a gigantic monster that attacked his city. When he awakes he is told his city was destroyed a 1000 years prior. He wants to find out what happens, and so he joins up with a group of other people, who are escorting a "Summoner" on her Pilgrimage, a quest where she must pray to crystallised people to be bestowed the power of a summon. The idea being that this is all training for when she receives "the final summoning", which would allow her to destroy the same creature that swallowed up the main hero. During the travels, the hero to his shock discovers this means the Summoner will die, and the crreature will only be destroyed for about 10 years, before it resurfaces. He was the only one in the group who was not aware of this. He (and others in the world) believe this is cruel and pointless. The summoners (the ones you met and the one you escort) believe 10 years of people not living in fear is worth the sacrifice. (for this reason, Summoners who quit their pilgrimage are disgraced). Of course, thats the cliffnotes version, there's a substantial amount of story Im cutting away from. But I couldnt help but feel there are more than a few similarities. in that regard, if you missed a payoff for Visions... maybe you should give FFX a try. Its on Steam, and comes in a pack: FFX and FFX-2 Remastered. Mind you though, that game has... a lot of cutscenes that cant be skipped.
