Guess you remember when ole Lisa motor lines ran a fleet these ole Pete's. They were always in the point up at the Bronx with that lousy swing'n meat. Get those ole REAL horse medicine sticks came out of Canada. WILD DAYS😭wait minute...there👍...🤣!
Black Beauties (amphetamine and biphetamine trucker speed), Yellowjackets (caffeine and ephedrine uppers), Christmas Trees (hydroxyzine anti-anxiety downers), the triangles are Dexies aka Midnight Runners (Dexedrine), red & white one is probably just caffeine and acetaminophen like a big excedrin, the small white ones are probably the last aspirins that were originally in the bottle.
Plain round orange/pink with single scoring are probably glucose/sugar for when the shakes set in from no food and no sleep leading to low blood sugar. OJ in a pill.
The “chick’s wallet” was for protecting your soft pack of cigarettes from being crushed and holding your lighter so you don’t lose it when you’re all strung out and can’t focus. As for how did they climb in and out of the bunk every day? More like every 3-4-5 days when the crash came.
The little white pills are called "White Crosses" also known as Ephedrine Hydrochloride... It's an upper. My brother and brother-in-law were both over-the-road truckers and they ate 'em by the handfuls!
Love the videos, I've got a '74 352 with a Cat 1693. Still work in progress. My Dad had a '72 gmc astro with a buzzin dozen that was red white and blue. Owned it twenty days and 17,000 miles and totaled it in Indiana. Glad to see you getting this one going again
Yellow Jackets, White Cross, Black Beauty's, all keep you up all night, for sure!!! Tooth picks could be old bull hauler soaked in "Amile nitrate" Also keep you up all night! Make the hair on the back of your head stand up! Dang, glad i lived through all that stuff! Every trucker back in the 70's and 80's had a bottle hidden! Speaker by the drivers head was the external speaker for the CB!
Put the pills away before the wife gets home. Lmfao. I am loving this project. Guys that are old enough to have experienced these old trucks really appreciate what you're doing. Look forward to future videos. Thanks again for sharing.
Glad to see you saving this ... the history!!! You found so much cooler stuff in this project than I found in one of my 359's ... the majority of what I found was 80's porn with pages stuck together - needed a friggin Hazmat Suit ... would've been much cooler to find the toothpicks and pills - great walk down memory lane!

Personally.... I just NEVER bothered to fill them out.... and beat the California courts, three times out of three for "not have a log book". The fourth (& last) time... the CHP just didn't even bother to write me up when they "called me in" on their radio, and found out I had beaten the courts..... and Not "just" in Cal., either.... over a period of 48+ years.

Really enjoyed this video! Easy way to get an extra 200 miles each night....large coffee, drink half, refill with Coke and pop 3 Excedrins. Three log books. NY to SF (solo) fourth morning delivery. Best time of my life.
HAAAAAAH LITERALLY funny ed but not really, cool as a little snapshot of a time being a haulage driver I mean we all have our way of dealing with things and this guy just found a way all be it not the best one he got the job done lol 😉
Put carpet in the sideboxes ,,then put carpet under the mattress and it dampens the sound and in the cold it keeps the heat in and keeps the water and stuff in your sidebox from freezing
If that AM/FM radio is original to the truck and you would like it repaired I would be happy to do so. That old Pete is so cool, I hope you are gonna restore it.

a pill bottle of white crosses, black mollys or Black Beauty's lol!! I remember getting into those when I was a teen my old man had them kicking around and knew they get you messed up so I took a white cross and was up all night it was fun LOL!

Those tooth picks were probably soaked in horse adrenaline. Old trucks truck to help them stay awake and d.o.t. was none the wiser.
My thoughts exactly
It’s not adrenaline. It’s called butte.

Toothpicks are soaked in liquid Meth. Keeps you driving and something to chew on.
You say you don’t know how drivers climbed in and out of the sleeper everyday...by using those pills, they’d only have to do it every 3 or 4 days 😉
😂😂😂😂
Rub a candle over old zippers the wax will lube it and make her work minty! That's what we used on our sleeping bags when I was in Boy Scouts
Great suggestion I didn't know that I'll try it!
If u don’t frame that’s shit I would be depressed man . This is what o found in the truck when I got it !!!!
That’s not a minus sign on those pills. That’s were you would cut the pill in half.
Yep Yellow Jackets white crosses all the Good Ol Road dope
All this talk about west coast turnarounds reminds me of the song Speedball Tucker by Jim Croce. (Sp). Great trucking song, check it out.
Old school truckers vitamins lol.
The yellow ones are RJS. Tooth picks have probally been dipped in horse race medicine. that will really make you go fast.
Crosstops back in the day speeders
SKF E19 is dexedrine. A stimulant. I guess the legend of truckers being on stims is true.

That’s what the pills were for, so you didn’t have to climb in the sleeper every day 😂 once a week more like it 😂
