I have a venture pal folding backpack that uses the rip stop material, I’ve had it for several years without any issue of it ripping. It’s nice that those bags have the same material.
You can order ANY fabric by the yard on ebay, as well as zippers and D-Rings. I've been sewing for years, so I make all my own gear, including bags and tarps. It's much better, cheaper, and it gets made the way I want it to be. That is the way to go....make your own. Plenty of video's on UA-cam on how to do just that, including backpacks. Look into it.
I pack most of my stuff in zip-lock bags. I can see whats inside and its waterproof. Only problem has been in freezing temps, when the bags are difficult to close back up again. And ziplock are cheap.
Instead of Gold Bond, I use Lamisil cream. It's only 30 grams and stop's the itch while leaving a film on the skin to protect it from more damage while you move around camp or in your sleep.
Great review. I personally use zip lock 1 gallon bags and smaller for my gears and miscellaneous, I know it sounds cheap but they work without adding much more weight.
Instead of carrying a tin of powder for chaffing, try Vaseline, it doubles as a fire starter. Powder tends to clump into hard balls, whereas Vaseline can be used as a chapstick replacement as well.
Dutchware Gear makes some good very light zipper bags. I almost got the Kifaru but the Dutchware bags were less expensive but still great quality. Happy with my purchase.
Great review..I have a pac and feel like everything is in Ziploc bags . these things would make me feel a little less of a hot mess..thank for sharing Luke...
First of all , Love Kifaru bags , at the same time the Osprey bags just as excellent high quality , 95% of my dry sacks / stuff sacks are Osprey and been running them for a couple of years and theyre still going strong !!! Funny you mention this , I keep A large Osprey zip bag rolled up in my kit , and take my clothes , jacket etc. wrap it with my shimog ( dont think i spelled that right lol ) and wrap the bag and it makes a bad ass pillow .....
On average I will find 4 or 5 a year crawling on me; I had one sucking some blood last year and it was a seed tic. It had crawled all the way up my leg and was biting my thigh. - Luke
Watch out for the Lonestar tick. One bite can cause a allergy to mammal meat that can last anywhere from a year to permanent. Trust me , it sucks! It’s called alpha gal and it’s spreading across the country.
I use heavy weight, or thicker millage "Clear" resealable plastic bags instead. That way when I pull the bag out, I can see every item inside each bag. The bags cost me nothing, as they were used to contain other products that I had ordered, so instead of throwing them out I repurposed them. They are working great so far, and I don't see any practical need to use opaque bags that are not clear, which just make it harder to find what I am looking for.
Food grade heavy plastic zip lock bags are great, been using them in the military for years, and are usually sold in multi packs which makes them really cheap, cents per bag not dollars.
@@taffdavies35 I just came across the Clear LOKSAK OPSAK bags on Massdrop. www.massdrop.com/buy/loksak-odor-proof-sak#specs I have seen them before, but never purchased. The big feature is that they are supposed to contain food odor, so probably good in bear country. Here's the description: LOKSAK OPSAK bags are airtight, water resistant, and 100-percent odor proof. The bags are lined with a film to create a barrier, which keeps the smell of food from escaping and ensures your food stays fresh. LOKSAK advises washing your hands after handing food to avoid leaving the scent of food on the outside of the bags. In addition, the OPSAK can withstand heat up to 170 degrees Fahrenheit and you can safely pour boiling water in to rehydrate food. However, you cannot place the bag in boiling water. With FDA and NSF approvals, the bags are also suited for storing medical supplies and biohazard materials. One pack contains two7-by-7-inch bags and the other pack contains two 12-by-20-inch bags. Hope that this helps!
@@TheOutdoorGearReview hello mi friend 😁. It's going great. The garden is done. I'm airing my tent bills have been paid. An i pickup a dpm burgen cover. I want colored bags though ... Red for fire blue for water green for shelter etc easy to grab a bag and know whats in it. I cant find anything that I like.
Osprey has updated their website to include measurements....oddly it's not in the specs but in the features dropdown. Tough decision between the Osprey and the Kifaru system because I like the Kifaru design....but as you say...lifetime warranty is hard to beat.
I love Osprey have a few items of theirs however I will stick with the vaultz bags that I learned from you about two years ago. I have not found anything better.
@TheOutdoorGearReview I like that kit for backpacking. Always looking for ways to organize my pack. Are these bags waterproof? Concerned mainly about keeping my clothes dry.

Hey Luke great video. I would love to see you do a bug out scenario, show your gear, weapons, first aid ect. Then after a bug out hike , you make camp set up security then doing some stealth camping. It could be a terrorist attack threat , natural disaster ect a good hr video. Thanks bro
They should make them out of Different Color Materials, maybe you could talk to them about it, I like to be able to look in and see in a Glance each kit by color (have Dry bags right now thinking of going to lighter bags). if you looked in a pack, specially at night you would see a Mass of the same color bags Mashed up together, and if use multiple of the same size, well till look in it you wouldn't know at all.
@Timothy Mckee hahaaha......thank you I was thinking about buying 5 of the small ones.....and how to put labels on them for FIRST AID KIT / SNACK PACK / POSSIBLES POUCH / ELECTRONICS / etc etc

buford guber ha! @Timothy Mckee he asked how OFTEN does he need to remove a tick. not how to remove one.
