Overcoming all those odds of tackle issues going wrong i.e. wrapped up in the rocks, frayed line and bent hooks then landing the fish shows what a truly great fisherman you are.
i saw the striper pic a week before the video dropped, and for 10 minutes i STILL thought you were going to lose it! that's how nail biting this vid was, epic catch man!
Thanks for sharing this experience. You handled everything perfectly. I have not been surf fishing for more than 20 years. My PB Bass was 18 pounds caught from Strawberry Point. This looked much more difficult to accomplish. Congrats!!!!
Out of all the videos on youtube this was one that has to stand out the most for Stripers. You cast out for quite some time, changed locations- then played the heck out of that fish. No hurry no rushing as most would do,. Glad to see you landed it...was actually waiting for you to go hip deep in water to grab it myself. Not to many video can match this episode for fighting the fish.
Luv the fact that Ilu didnt horse him in. Luv seeing people that use their drag and the rod to do the work for you. Nice battle and definitely amazing fish!! Tight lines!!!
The beauty of striper fishing is the battle between man and beast. Being on a striper in conditions like this makes it all the more worthwhile when you finally pull in your trophy. Epic battle man. You have to stay focused, calm, and you have to keep your composure throughout. You played this fish like a champ. Nice video buddy. You got yourself a new subscriber.
‘You always have to have confidence in what you are throwing’. That is applicable to life in general, now if I too can apply that to fishing, finding a job etc....
Awesome Awesome !!! What a change of events no doubt! Thanks for sharing on the lessons learned from fishing on the rocks and the treble hook bending issue
What a great catch off the surf man!! Those stripers get huge and they fight like bulls! I'm definitely subscribe, good to see other UA-camrs fishing channels from where I'm from, the West Coast. I see a few people commenting that they've been skunked a bunch of times and even though they are determined they're not landing them. I've been lucky to have caught a few stripers from the beach and there are a few things I've learned. Like someone stated, finding a good spot is at least half of the battle. I would mainly catch them off soft shell sand crabs here close to Monterey, California. When looking for a spot, I would usually look for rip currents, where the waves break and the place were there's pools. Another thing I liked to do is be holding the rod and be ready to set the hook as you can miss them sometimes when they spit the bait/lure out. Finally, last thing is that they have to be hungry and feeding at the time or else even if they're in that spot, they won't really bite. Thanks for the motivation, I'm thinking of getting out there again and trying to make some surf fishing videos as well!!
you need to promote your channel as well. get the words out, comments on other people's video so other can see your channel. there were so many channels i didn't even know about that i recently subs to because i never knew about them. all were word of mouth. sometimes, it just simple as that and creating interesting and good quality content really helps..
I want to comment too. Many people "pump" the fish, pulling up, dropping the tip and reeling while they drop the tip. That's OK IF you keep the rod bent while you SLOWLY drop the rod--but most allow slack while the suddenly drop the tip. NOT THIS GUY--he correctly keeps the line tight at all times, this is why they say "tight lines". He pumps very little--and that's OK--he is keeping his line tight, which you should o. And he has a nice reel, I have the same one, it's drag is butter smooth, you can see that. Good catch-and for those who may not know, stripers are great eating. Thanks for posting. (If I may ask, can you give what part of the country you are in--no, not asking for your spot by any means, just "central California" or "Northern Cal", that sort of general idea.
What an epic fight. Enjoyed watching every minute of that fight. First that nice salmon now that striper. Definitely fishes of a lifetime brotha. Take care. Fish on 🎣
Awesome catch . I was holding my breath hoping that moment would not come we have all cried over when the bend in the rod kicks back and the fish wins and gives us the fin hahaha. Glad you taught him who the the boss is bro . You be da Mannnn !!!! : ? ) . I am sure that striper is telling his friends the story of how he got his ass kicked one day hahaha
Did you keep it if you did not stripers build up acid in their muscles when they fight and so for catch and release do you want to fight them very fast and then release them quickly
DUDE!!! that was the best video Ive ever seen, thats such a hog of a fish. i need to get better at looking for the right kind of area to fish, i have no clue at all, but this video gives me confidence to get back out there again and keep trying. Thank you for making this video, and keep slayin it G
The good thing about bent out hooks is you can bend them back I tried to find replacement hooks for the Lucky Craft couldn't find anything equivalent to them so I just spent back the hooks hopefully it won't affect the swimming action
You fought him perfectly. Kept the fish right in front of you at a 90 degree angle and not letting her run down the rocks. On a different note, I knew some dudes from Linda Mar way back in the day that would swim out to those small rock islands in your vid and slay the Stripers out there.
Great job! I just caught a 37-1/2” two days ago in San Mateo. I used the same lure as yours and I’ve lost two big fish already because the hooks got straightened out.☹️
Thanks Daniel! That last ling you got off the rocks was a beast!!! Bummer on the camera troubles, I've been there, lol. Happened to me on a Halibut I got off the Kayak last year. We should hit the rocks/surf sometime!
REDEMPTION! Seriously, congrats man! My hooks bent out too on my lucky craft when I caught an almost legal halibut. I've since replaced them with gamakatsu 2x trebles and they've worked flawlessly
Great catch... you did well.....one tip..... with 20# leader, you can safely have your drag 5-7 lbs. I watched pretty carefully, and I think yours was set quite a bit lower. Hopefully, this may help you with larger fish later on.
Nice Stiper bro. I'm in Ventura and caught a 31" Stripe Bass about a month ago. I used a rubber burgandy centiped/sandworm looking thing with a tail. Funky soft bait I found on eBay. Anyways, cool vid man. Thanks.
Where is this area if you don’t mind me asking I’m not new to ocean fishing but new to surf fishing and I just want to know of some decent areas to go to
Wow huge! Gonna watch this on big TV screen...going to be fun watching this video. Plan on going there next week, encouraging to know strippers are still hitting off shore, thought the action slowed down? Thanks for posting!
That was a hog. I live in Utah but born and raise in Lakewood, Calif. I grew up surf fishing. It's a blast. I landed a 65lb leppard sand shark off seal beach with a gruion one night right next to the jetti on north side of the pier. Almost 6ft long. Was so cool. Those barred perch are great eating as well as grey sand sharks. Your bringing back great memories. Love this channel for sure. What part of cali you catch that stripper?
Fantastic! Good for you. Great video and congratulations. I can't think of a more treacherous area to try and land a fish like that. The jetties in NJ are a similar challenge. Tight lines buddy!
Yeah I felt like I was on the east coast for a second there. I have never been fishing there but I imagine it is something like this, huge fish and sketchy landings, haha
Dayems! Another awesome catch. CONGRATS! I'm so jealous 🙄 You're right finding the right spot is definitely more than a half the battle (I have no clue of knowing).
Hi bro, Im just taking up fishing at 60, and I've been watching a lot of your vids. Im trying to get what I need for surf fishing and rock fishing. I live in Humboldt County and can't wait to start fishing. No one seems to know if there are steipers this far north. what do you think
WOW! Flip flops and the rocks thats damn brave. Looks like one of our old school Seacliff pier fish. Lure wise they make a smaller Daiwa Salt pro minnow DSPM13S01(sinking) and DSPM13F01 (floating) and run about 9 bucks instead of the $20.00.
I tie the braid to a power swivel and then the other side of the swivel to the mono leader, both using Palomar knots. I will go over this setup next time I am out at the surf!
Now I understand but I think you have things described in reverse order. You need to be able to pull something through the loop of the palomar knot. If you tie the braid to the swivel first that cannot be done. The leader can be tied to the swivel first and the the leader and swivel can be pulled through the palomar loop on the braid. I have been doing this for 30 years. We think alike.
Overcoming all those odds of tackle issues going wrong i.e. wrapped up in the rocks, frayed line and bent hooks then landing the fish shows what a truly great fisherman you are.
Mostly luck I think, but I'll take the compliment. Thanks!!!!
You are the flip flop master!
Anyone who can walk around those rocks in flip flops must have supernatural power in their feet.
Nothing but nothing feels better to me than that tap tap tap on my rod and then the realization you've got a heavy fish . Excitement overload !
dang man. fishing rocks with flip flops. what a beast.
Yeah bro, thanks for rubbing it in😭😭😭
Great catch! What a battle
lol, next time its your turn!
Lol funny jun
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
This is my favorite striper video on UA-cam. I also love when I catch something big when least expected. Great battle!
i saw the striper pic a week before the video dropped, and for 10 minutes i STILL thought you were going to lose it! that's how nail biting this vid was, epic catch man!
I still can't believe I didn't lose that fish, lol
@@DieHardFishing Subscribed... saw you on "More than Fishing" :)
Thanks for sharing this experience. You handled everything perfectly. I have not been surf fishing for more than 20 years. My PB Bass was 18 pounds caught from Strawberry Point. This looked much more difficult to accomplish. Congrats!!!!
Thanks, you should try it again! That 18 pounder must have put up one heck of a fight!
Out of all the videos on youtube this was one that has to stand out the most for Stripers. You cast out for quite some time, changed locations- then played the heck out of that fish. No hurry no rushing as most would do,. Glad to see you landed it...was actually waiting for you to go hip deep in water to grab it myself. lol, glad you enjoyed it as much as I did. I myself have watched it several times and am still not sure how I managed not to lose this one.
Luv the fact that Ilu didnt horse him in. Luv seeing people that use their drag and the rod to do the work for you. Nice battle and definitely amazing fish!! Tight lines!!!
Horrible for the fish
Wow! Amazing catch! Great job handling that fish under difficult conditions.
Thanks for watching! Hopefully more epic battles to come in 2019!
I think this is the craziest striped bass fight AND landing I've ever seen so far. Frickin' bonkers yo!
This never gets old. Such an epic fight. You were brilliant as you maneuvered through the rocks 💪
Stripers Love the Rocks nice catch!
YaaMaan , you know it !!
I just ordered 2 flahs minnow
Thank God for being young and in shape to be able to get around on those rocks. Nice striper. Great channel / great video.
This is quite an achievement for a Pacific Striped bass.
Wow, you had my heart pumping hoping you would not lose that striper. Great catch
This is when you’re glad you re-tied your knots. Thanks for the fun video.
People that have never hooked one don't realize how brutal the battle is on surf stripers. Great fight Adam
Just saw this. All I can say is NO WAY! Awesome fish. Good job
Im barely starting my fishing journey and this is quite the inspiration! Great video Subed
What a wonderful adventure. Also a beautiful bass, your patience paid off. 🎣😎
Glad you were able to learn a thing or two from the video. Its amazing how one fish can turn a pretty boring day into a memorable one!
This no doubt is the battle of the year! Congrats man you bent all three hooks!!!!
Thanks for watching! Can't believe I managed to land that fish!
So Epic!! WOW! We all dream of that moment.
What a great catch off the surf man!! Those stripers get huge and they fight like bulls! I'm definitely subscribe, good to see other UA-camrs fishing channels from where I'm from, the West Coast. Thanks for checking out the channel and subscribing! Thanks for passing on all the knowledge!
Great job on the fish bro... you deserved that big guy!!! Thanks again for all your videos!!!
Thanks for watching and thanks for the support!
Congratulations! Yowza! What a great fish you appeared to land with real experience! Full marks to you! Cheers, Colin.
Thanks for watching!
Amazing accomplishment! I surf fish on the East Coast of NY, and I know how hard it is to land a big bass around heavy structure. Good job, dude.
That was sick. Your channel doesn't disappoint. What I don't understand is why you don't have 500k sub by now. People need to wake up.
maybe someday we will be there. If every subscriber shared my channel with 50 friends then we would get there, lol
Did you release it or did you take it home?
you need to promote your channel as well. get the words out, comments on other people's video so other can see your channel. there were so many channels i didn't even know about that i recently subs to because i never knew about them. all were word of mouth. sometimes, it just simple as that and creating interesting and good quality content really helps..
Thanks for the tips on growing the channel. Hopefully the big fish will help bring in some new viewers!

where is this beach located at? you said Bay Area but whats the name of the beach?
Now with some XX Strong treble hooks on that Lucky Craft Flash Minnow you will have even more confidence in it! Great fight, great video!
daaaaamn!! That thing looked way more than 20lb. Good job man, that was amazing
well it was a little bigger than 20, I weighed it out and it came out to 21 lbs. lol
I've seen about six times...never gets old!
What a battle! Excellent video, even better fish 🎣
A really exciting video and fun commentary. Great job all around! Subscribed! Where are those rocks???
What an epic fight. Enjoyed watching every minute of that fight. First that nice salmon now that striper. Definitely fishes of a lifetime brotha. Take care. Fish on 🎣
The fishing gods shined on me this week for sure!
Difficult spot to land a fish, especially in flip flops ! Well done
Man I aspire to be like you. So poise and patient as you fish.
haha, thanks!
Fish of a lifetime right there. Well done on winning that battle, scrambling around the rocks in _sandals_ like a madman haha
shorts and flip flops for the win!!!!
WOW! That was AWESOME! Great battle you showed a lot of patience and not trying to horse him in KUDOS! Keep it up Fish On!!!
Thanks for watching! Glad you enjoyed!
That was a great video. I live near Pacific CA so you’re video inspires me to get back out there 👍
Did you keep it if you did not stripers build up acid in their muscles when they fight and so for catch and release do you want to fight them very fast and then release them quickly
DUDE!!! that was the best video Ive ever seen, thats such a hog of a fish. i need to get better at looking for the right kind of area to fish, i have no clue at all, but this video gives me confidence to get back out there again and keep trying. Thank you for making this video, and keep slayin it G
I hope your next trip is a memorable one!
The good thing about bent out hooks is you can bend them back I tried to find replacement hooks for the Lucky Craft couldn't find anything equivalent to them so I just spent back the hooks hopefully it won't affect the swimming action
True, but they do become weaker each time they get bent.
VMC Hooks
You fought him perfectly. Kept the fish right in front of you at a 90 degree angle and not letting her run down the rocks. On a different note, I knew some dudes from Linda Mar way back in the day that would swim out to those small rock islands in your vid and slay the Stripers out there.
Those are the real die hard fishermen, haha
General location where i can fish for striper in the bay area??
I know you like to swap out the stock hooks on the Lucky craft what hooks do you prefer thanks for the video stay safe my friend
Great job! I just caught a 37-1/2” two days ago in San Mateo. I used the same lure as yours and I’ve lost two big fish already because the hooks got straightened out.☹️
What a fish! That looked fun. Congrats Adam!
Thanks Daniel! That last ling you got off the rocks was a beast!!! Bummer on the camera troubles, I've been there, lol. Happened to me on a Halibut I got off the Kayak last year. We should hit the rocks/surf sometime!
I know.. it sucks. But I'm definitely down to go fishing some time!
Love your videos bro! What cost friendly rod and reel combo would you recommend for a beginner to start surf fishing?
YaaMaan !! Really nice one !! For moments I thought it’s me catching it,, good luck bro, informational too !! God Bless Fishing forever.
Awesome job .. can't believe that braided line held up in the rocks like it did
Yeah I thought for sure it would get frayed up.
Hey, may I ask what beach was this?
What lines did you use? Braid? Pounds? Fluro leader? And pounds?
Nice catch 👌 I don't know how a 30 lbs braid line could resist that battle
Going here tomorrow! hopefully some fish are around! Nice striper
This is like the 4th time I've watched this video. I getting all pumped up for striper in the surf! Just around the corner.
lol, I've watched this video so many times.
REDEMPTION! Seriously, congrats man! My hooks bent out too on my lucky craft when I caught an almost legal halibut. I've since replaced them with gamakatsu 2x trebles and they've worked flawlessly
how much stronger are the gamakatsu trebles, 2x you think?
I literally just bought some of those as replacements!
Change out all your sp minnow factory hooks too they are notorious for getting bent out on large fish
Great catch... you did well.....one tip..... with 20# leader, you can safely have your drag 5-7 lbs. I watched pretty carefully, and I think yours was set quite a bit lower. Hopefully, this may help you with larger fish later on.
Nice catch! How long was your leader?
Hi
We’re is a good place to for surf fishing. And it a good time now in this mouth?
Nice Stiper bro. I'm in Ventura and caught a 31" Stripe Bass about a month ago. I used a rubber burgandy centiped/sandworm looking thing with a tail. Funky soft bait I found on eBay.
Anyways, cool vid man. Thanks.
Right on, thanks for watching and congrats on your fish!
were was the rock spot at
Where is this area if you don’t mind me asking I’m not new to ocean fishing but new to surf fishing and I just want to know of some decent areas to go to
Wow huge! Gonna watch this on big TV screen...going to be fun watching this video. Plan on going there next week, encouraging to know strippers are still hitting off shore, thought the action slowed down? Thanks for posting!
Just watched on big screen...awesomeness!!! Doesn't braid easily get chewed up by rocks? Glad you brought it in. Thanks again!
Glad you enjoyed! Yes, braid can very easily be cut on the rocks. Just another reason why I should have lost that fish, lol
"This is gonna be a big fight.." (in slippahs!) ;D Congrats! What a battle!
Wow congrats! You’ve been running into some big fish lately.
The fishing gods have shined on me this week.
Epic battle bud. You won the war! Keep up the great vids. 🤙
I've never fishing on the ocean but after this video I have to get there))
Where was that location?
That is a sweet catch and gave you a good fight on that rod!!
Thanks for watching!
This is the best video I seen. Such a fight. Well done!
You have to have confidence in what you’re throwing!
You’ve got that right
Rick Knight so true!
Now that is a proper fight on light tackle. Good stuff.
Thanks for watching!
Nice job. That is huge for a West coast striper. I bet you upgrade your hooks after that.
nice man.. what part of the cost you fishing in?
Where is this at ?
What beach was this??
Faaaaaaaatttyyy bro! Congrats on a great day in the surf.
Dayems! Another awesome catch. CONGRATS! I'm so jealous 🙄 You're right finding the right spot is definitely more than a half the battle (I have no clue of knowing).
It is definitely a learning game. I am always learning more about the fish every time I go out!
We should go on a fishing date if you're in socal
Where you fish at?
Hi bro, Im just taking up fishing at 60, and I've been watching a lot of your vids. Im trying to get what I need for surf fishing and rock fishing. I live in Humboldt County and can't wait to start fishing. No one seems to know if there are steipers this far north. what do you think
Great striped bass. North or south of Ocean Beach?
How do you keep so calm!!?
On the inside I was probably borderline heart attack, lol
Were you north or south of Monterey
Haha that was sick man! What a fight 😎🤙🏽
I don't know what's more impressive. The fish or wearing flip flops around jagged rocks !
That was one epic fight dude. Congrats even after that Salmon.
Thanks for watching!
The smaller DSPM Minnows in color 01 (Lazor Sardine) seem to work pretty well and 1/2 the price.
Thanks for the heads up!
Love surf fishing especially with my Pop's, a good ol Marine who loves the ocean 🌊....❤️👣
What type of knot docu use for braid to mono? Great catch!!!!
I tie two Palomar knots to a barrel swivel to prevent line twists.
I use a Palomar knot for many applications. How do you tie two Palomar knots from one line? I am interested.
OMG!! I miss fishing there in there in California. Fishing sucks here in Minnesota.
All I can say is wow!!! 🎣🎣🎣👍
Where is this?
