This was the first day I began shooting video. Until this time, I would use a silent 8mm movie camera. My girlfriend's father was generous to lend me his RCA VHS Camcorder. Footage is unedited (as filmed) and trains appear in chronological order. You will see Hudson Line and River Line action with the following lineup:
Southbound Metro North FL9 2033- ?
Southbound Metro North FL9 2017-2021
Southbound Metro North FL9 2032- ?
Southbound Metro North FL9 2004- ?
Southbound Amtrak Rohr Turboliner.
Northbound Metro North FL9 2012.
Southbound Metro North/CDOT FL-9's
Northbound Conrail TOFC (most likely TVLA) on the River Line shot across river in Fort Montgomery.
Southbound Amtrak FL9.
Northbound Amtrak Rohr Tuboliner.
Southbound Metro North SPV 2000s.
That Metroliner set! So much cool equipment from then. And, of course, all that FL-9 beauty.
You mean the turboliner?
SPV 2000?
Yep @@1990sRailfan
Also the baggage car at 11:22, looks like it has HEP? Didn't know they had one of those.
I didn't know FL9 2012 has a Leslie RS2M horn
I think those were temporary. It seemed, as the Hancock whistles were replaced, they slapped those on. I'm definitely not a horn expert.
Geiler Sound
This really brings back memories of growing up not to far from New Hamburg station durinf this time but I was never fortunate to ride on the Amtrak turbo liner trains, how were they comfort wise?
I only rode a Turboliner once, and I can't recall the comfort, but I remember the view was gorgeous through those large windows!
Super loks F9's
Nice! You got the now-elusive SPV-2000! What ever happened to those?
There were periods where the SPVs seemed to run frequently, they would then disappear for long periods, only to reappear later, and the cycle would repeat. I don't know exactly when or how they were disposed of. ua-cam.com/video/SqlYIW9gE6E/v-deo.html
@2:36, what are those things sticking up on the sides of the rails
Those are called rake-off blocks. They were used to realign any misaligned electric pick up shoes on the trucks of the FL9s and Turbos.
@0:07 that crossing has no bell
Good observation there. I bet the neighbors appreciated that.
F3 AA Diesel Sets at last
FL9's but close enough.
