Best all round English midfielder ever had everything box to box defend start attack score goals good passer leadership on pitch brave as anything no English midfielder before or after comes anywhere near Robson in my opinion
Sadly a bit too brave for his own good sometimes. Those 2 against France, arguably the best team of the tournament, at WC 82 (I know Brazil were amazing then but that’s another debate) were so so good and then he did his shoulder in and we were less than half the team without him. I’d say Jude Bellingham comes close but I take your point. Incredible.
There were some class class goals in this video. Loved the first one with the tenacity, riding the challenges and basically willing the ball into the back of the net. And the little one two passed Koeman(whom i despise) and barely getting it over the keeper. Also as a finn i somehow knew thered be clips against my team and there you go a nice poachers finnish in the box. And a class run from deep midfield aided by horrendous goalkeeping by my countryman. Started watching football during italia 90 and i just barely missed this guy, never really knew of him- had heard of him but i thought he was good in the 70s and never saw footage. Thanks for this, seemed like a tremendous footballer
One of the first names in my all time best England 11. Strength , leadership, no little skill, goals galore, energy. What a player he was , shame England didn't support him better in 82 in Spain when we were exposed tactically . Always felt with Robbo and Hoddle England had the basis of a better team in the 80s.
Right, England's record in the 1980s was highly respectable...could Robson have done more at the 1982 WC with better tactical management?..the question of that England team fascinates me...He missed the Euro 80 tourney, a strange omission by Greenwood,...Maybe Greenwood could have tried a 4-3-3 at that WC?
26 goals is phenomenal for a box to box midfielder. Scotland’s record goalscorer is the legendary Kenny Dalglish tied with Denis Law on 30. I’d have guessed Robson had 10.
Ask anyone who watched football from the 70s onwards who they'd have in an all time midfield for England and the overwhelming majority would say Bryan Robson. And when you consider the other midfielders we've had, that's quite a statement. So very unfortunate for England at world cups too. 82 - England played very well but missed out on the strange format of a 2nd group stage rather than what we know it as today where its knockout after the group stage. 86 - injured. Would he have caught Maradona for the 2nd goal? Absolutely he would. 90 - can't deny, played much better without him but what a player to have had available if needs be. Ifs and buts and all that. First football icon who I wanted to emulate growing up. And I ain't even a man utd fan.
Think we played better without him in 86, but that is because Bobby Robson had to reorganize the side as Ray Wilkins got suspended. He brought Hoddle into the centre and played more natural wide players. Bobby Robson was initially guilty of playing people out of position so that he could play all his best players. Don't agree that England played better without Robson in 90. England were playing well with him versus the Dutch and then he had to come off. England then struggled but won v Egypt, were slightly inferior but won v Belgium, and most people would say outplayed for most of the game v Cameroon and were lucky to win. Played well v Germany in the semi, but who's to say they wouldn't have played even better had Robson played. May even have won.
@@daviebananas1735so you're unaware that post WW2 Germany was split into East & West, both being separate countries, that were only reunited when the Berlin wall fell? It takes a very special person to be quite so smug, and quite so ignorant at the same time, fair play lad.
And the result of all those goals? The same number of trophies for England as I've won. None, zero, zilch. The same as every England international under the age of 80. Pathetic.
My fav player of all time!
A hero for a generation of kids...and adults.
Love the soundtrack too.
Who made this tune?
What a terrific player, some of these goals I haven't seen for many years.

100% True
Maybe Duncan Edwards? But before my time.
Totally agree

Captain Marvel
For some strange reason they don't mention him much when they talk about England players and he was absolutely one of England,s best midfielders
@Greenfields 12 'Pulled out' is slightly misleading. Played in first 2 games in both 86 and 90, but was then injured.
He was absolutely epic. He'd be worth as much as Jude Bellingham today and Gerrard in the previous era.
My alltime favourite player!!
About bloody time. Was looking for a vid like this for years!
Sensational. Imagine Robbo in any PL team these days. Complete hero.
That header v France 82😮

Oh he played 2 games at italia 90, completely missed him. (My bad)
Goal against Holland sums him up. Shame we had donkey adams in defence that day.
Nobody was better than Robbo. Best English midfielder of all time. Fucking warrior!! 🔥
No team in the world... Ever would not have Robbo in there team
Amazing
Legend

Un bomber a tutto campo !
I loved robbo he was so talented. Him fit with middle in the side and lineker up top great team
Captain Marvel. My dad’s favorite player. RIP dad.
Always my favourite player as a kid even though I was a Chelsea supporter
Best in the business, my football idol Bryan Robson 7.

People forget what a great player he was!
What's the music????,my favourite player growing up
Robbo was the greatest

When people say “ box to box midfielder”, I think of Robson
Finished like a striker with both feet and his head.
Nice video, the music goes vey nicely. Can anyone help me identify the team in blue at 01:50? I can't work it out...
It's East Germany and I thought it was Finland before finding the right answer😂
@@yymediaprodEast Germany lol. As if german regions played international football. I suppose his next goal was against west France. Lol.

@@neilharris2048 Aye, definitely wasn’t a joke and I have absolutely zero knowledge of geopolitics.
Jesus crist do we need the crazy music
Red Robbo Utd + England Great
Pure Bulldog 🇬🇧
Cap'n Marvel!
Robbo beaten some great international keepers then.. Jennings, Schumacher, Van Brenkulen and the mighty Turkish goalkeeper in that 8-0 win
Not much at controlling the ball but he knows where the goal is.
Best ever England midfielder can Bellingham be as good?
The first goal here, would not have been scored today. A modern player would have looked for a foul at the first tackle.
Mine too 😀
Headers and volleys
Good player but very overrated by the media at the time.

Forget your meds?
Yeah, cos only players who won the World Cup had talent. Absolute moron.
That must make you extra pathetic.
