    I worked for the Postal Service for 44 years. I was an RCA on a true county rural route for six years. Two years as a PTF clerk. Six years as a City Carrier and finally a Postmaster for thirty years. The rural side was by far my favorite and that’s where I’d start my career again.

    So ARC and RCA are the same thing?
    Difference is that ARC is only Holiday and every Sunday. RCA is any day they don’t have someone?

    • @recycleplease
      @recycleplease  2 роки тому +1

      They are not, pretty different actually. The only similarity is they are both part of rural craft. An ARC is part time, non union, and can never transition into a full time position, postal benefits, etc. You got the schedule part correct. The ARC position was designed strictly to alleviate the burden of delivering amazon boxes on Sundays

    • @recycleplease
      @recycleplease  2 роки тому

      As an RCA, you will probably work 6 days a week, or more. You will deliver whatever route is needed each day. Typically it takes several years before you "make regular" and bid onto a route. Then, you will do the same route every day. Due to nationwide staff shortages, its highly likely to work 6 days a week as an RCA, CCA, and regular carrier. Be prepared for lots of mandatory overtime

  • @fame0815
    @fame0815 Рік тому

    So if you’re an RCA you’re pretty much working part time ???

    • @recycleplease
      @recycleplease  Рік тому

      It’s technically a part time position. You are not guaranteed 40 hrs a week. But I would be shocked if you did not work 40-80 hrs a week

      Hi; any job at the post office will take a toll on your body; however as a rural the only walking you will be doing is for package delivery. All rural routes are mounted delivery. Do know, generally speaking, it takes longer to become a regular on the rural side than on the city side.

    rca or cca which one is better / pays more/less work?

    • @recycleplease
      @recycleplease  5 років тому +1

      will depend on the office. Some RCA's work more than CCAs but some CCAs will work more than an RCA. RCAS get paid a bit more per hour but CCAs get paid differently for OT (its easier for a CCA to get paid for OT). And CCA will most likely become a regular sooner

    • @recycleplease
      @recycleplease  5 років тому +2

      CCA gets paid OT after 8 hours, RCA doesn't get paid for OT unless you work more than 40 hours in a week. So an RCA could work a 12 hour day and not get OT. Also RCAs pay is complex. Its almost like getting paid salary, unless they work over 40 hours a week

    What about mha???

    • @recycleplease
      @recycleplease  5 років тому

      MHA = Mail Handler Assistant. As far as I know it is like a PSE. They would start out moving and sorting mail at a local office, or maybe a distribution center? It also may be a seasonal position during holiday. I am not entirely sure on MHA.

    • @Elositofluffy
      @Elositofluffy 5 років тому +3

      I was MHA for a little while and loved it, a MHA does a lot in every area of a distribution plant on a daily basis. You could start on the dock receiving, then move to sorting in different areas. A lot of walking and physical work but typically what you handle is not heavy, probably sacks area the heaviest. Is good if you don't like to work in one area for long periods of time. MHA is a just indoors position. They also have PITs like electric pallet jacks and forklifts but you have to work your way up to be able to operate those. The MHA can become regulars, but they have seasonal positions they are called Casuals.
