BOOGIE... I am a person that has not really ever been active on your channel, and I've only really started watching most of your content earlier this year, so I doubt you'll see this comment. But on the slim chance that you do, I want you to know that you are an UNDYING INSPIRATION to me. I've lived my life so far with nothing but problems, whether it be Asperger's, shin splints, obesity, Asthma, depression, anxiety, or whatever else. But watching you and listening to your struggles and your strength truly makes me feel that nothing in this world can take me down, and I personally thank you for that.
As a quick aside, probably around the age of 6-7 I broke my front tooth riding my bike without training wheels for the first time (the story is quite hilarious I assure you), and I had it filled and corrected. over the next two years I went on to break the same tooth three additional times. The very last time I went, the dentist had told me "This tooth WILL break again. There's no avoiding that." and to this day, it has stayed, ironically after the worst dentist in my history told me it wouldn't. I had it shaped and corrected in the months before I went off to college, and I've never felt better about it. Keep on keeping on, my big, beautiful sir.

MrRoflCopterzz What an awesome thing to write. My 22 yr old son has autism. After the death of my husband who was overweight he said he wasn't going to be like his dad and die young ( he was 51) At this point my son has list 180 lbs just with diet and exercise. He set his mind to it and he did it.

boogie, I was diagnosed with lymphedema in January. My legs were twice your size. I had one infection that was hard to get rid of, but 11 months later my legs are better then ever. I don't think you have all the info needed on how to treat Lymphedema. Compression socks are not enough.....not even close. In January, I was almost 600 punds. I am down to 440 and on my feet 12-15 hours a day. There are better compression wraps and stockings you need to use to keep the swelling under control. I can go on and on about this. I can help if you want....I am living with this condition every day.

I also have lympedema and I agree 100% He needs to see a Lymphedema specialist to learn how to wrap his legs or teach his wife how to wrap them. He would feel and be so much healthier if he got that lymph moving out with the wraps. I hope Boogie reads your message.

The assholes calling him names and being rude are hurting him, not helping him. The vegan part of me wants to beg him to go vegan, stop eating the foods that's causing inflammation in his body, eat more fruits and vegetables to try to boost his immune system so his body can fight the infection so he can heal faster, but if I say that, everyone will attack me for "forcing my beliefs" on him. I can't win no matter what I say so all I can do is tell him that he's an amazing person because I think he needs to hear that.

Yeah I'm very happy to be living in a country with government funded healthcare. My lung has collapsed twice in my life, first time needed a minor surgery, second needed a major surgery. If I lived in the US, I'd be in debt for hundreds of thousands of dollars, because without that medical care I would have died. My life would have been ruined. I don't understand how a modern society can be ok with doing that to thousands of people every day.

Nathan Contorelli And to you, I had a condition called spontaneous pneumothorax. Which is a completely spontaneous collapse of the lung which generally happens to young, tall men. There's absolutely nothing you can do to prevent it, it just happens, hence the name. Should I and anyone else with this condition, and many others like it, have to go into hundreds of thousands of dollars of debt because of it? I was 20 years old when it first happened and 22 the second time, in no kind of financial shape to pay hospital bills somewhere around $100 000. The entire idea is that everyone pays into it so that nobody has to deal with such a horrible situation, including yourself. You say "why should I have to play for someone else's problems" but it protects you as well. Chances are pretty good that at some point in your life you're going to need serious health care. I much prefer going through life knowing I'll never have to worry about the cost.

Boogie, It is actually interesting you shared this because my father went through the Cellulitis condition as well. He had oozing leg and it was his left leg, He was decent sized but not overly huge. He ignored it at first not knowing what was going on for at least 4 days, Well then after the 4th day he was getting really sick and nauseous and e couldn't figure it out why. Well my family and I decided to take him to the hospital in Rochester NY and we had this one doctor come in the room who was fantastic my I add for NY and said he was suffering from Cellulitis. He said this and I quote "Your very lucky to be alive sir, If you would have waited just one more day you would have died it was that close". We felt so lucky and fortunate that we decided to take him to the hopsital when we did. But fortunately enough the good lord above was with us on that day because my father stayed alive and is doing well and the Cellulitis has amazingly disappeared. By honestly Boogie thank you for sharing your story. :)

Boogie, you probably won't read this, but I see things from the other side in my line of work. I'm a doctor who does a lot of wound care. When you say the infection went down to bone, did they say you have osteomyelitis? For infections, that is a big threshold. Soft tissue is "relatively" easy to cure with antibiotics, but once it gets into the bone, it's much harder, and amputation is often the best option, since the infection can fester there for years, before resurfacing and causing you to go septic again. Your legs do remind me of chronic wound skin. Does it have that bumpy, brawny feel, like a crocodile skin purse?

Boogie, I myself know about overcoming an obstacle your body has had to endure. I was diagnosed with stage 4 testicular cancer when I was 18. I went through 7 surgeries and two aggressive doses of chemo. I had a bad infection as a result of the chemo destroying my immune system at one point and the doctors thought I might not come back from it, but somehow I did. I am cancer free today and have been in remission for 9 years now, but I still struggle to cope with what I went through on a daily basis. I just wanna say having people like you who bring such unwavering positivity and joy to the world makes it a hell of alot easier to deal with everything. Thank you for all you do. I think they are also very scared. When we see someone who has had it so hard and isn't the "rags from riches" story, either in health or personal life we're told to expect, we wonder if that could of been us. In defense we blame the person, hoping that maybe it was their active choice to be that miserable and have so many issues, so that we do not have to face the cold truth that, it could happen to anyone and any one of us could be just as screwed.
If anything, it's actually empathy that causes people to be so cruel in terms of blaming and condemning people, because it's projective identification, I don't want that to be me, I refuse that it could ever be me because I'm in control of my life. It HAS to be their fault, right? Because otherwise ... I could of been in those shoes.
It sucks. So the me me now now of our society is this fear, this idea that we must only fend for ourselves and we will do whatever we can to get it, because we couldn't possibly be the one to get cancer, to end up mentally scarred, to be on the street, to lose our homes, our loved ones, to question why we are even here at all and face the existential dilemma of life itself.
T me, any cruelty is usually out of fear. I mean, anger is a defense before the fear, to protect us in a time where we need it. To fight our proverbial tigers and take them by the tail before they kill us.
This explains why so many are so damn upset about the idea of others being a different race, sexuality, gender, lifestyle etc that we don't understand and because of our empathy, it becomes apart of our lives, and we care, we care enough to hate.
Education is the only way I know to remedy something like that. If people could understand that race doesn't matter, someones bedroom life doesn't affect you, that knowledge changes constantly, that mental disorders are just as valid if not sometimes more frustrating and difficult to deal with at physical, because the brain is physical, I think we'd see people less filled with fear and anger, but rather more understanding and more concern on how to help those suffering no matter what the reason.

Vixx Celacea what your describing may be empathy but I believe its empathy in denial. Just because we can empathize with someone doesnt mean we have to like ot or accept it and thats what I think your describing. Many people today though cant even get to the first step of empathy. I het it though. My daughter has multiple medical issues to the point where my wife had to quit her job to care for our daughter. Every day my daughter goes through 3+ hours of a medical routine that keeps her from doing so many things. My father died from cancer last year. I have gone from "that cant be me" to "oh crap when is it going to hit me" I cannot hope to understand personally what my daughter is going through but I can be there for her and thats when empathy matters

My dad had lymphadema really bad. It was a really scary sad time and I was constantly worried he was going to have to have his leg taken off. Thankfully he found a doctor (actually a "wound specialist") who was able to get the issue fixed. He has to wear compression wraps every day, but I haven't seen my dad's legs looking this good for a good part of my life.
Praying this can get cleared up for you too, Boogie.

Also, my parents are doing a lifestyle change program called Profile by Sanford and it is working amazingly. My dad especially is seeing quite a bit of success. He's the kind of guy who loves food and is always hungry... but on this he isn't. AND HE CAN MOVE! I've never seen my dad so active and I'm so proud of him. They don't have any in Arkansas, but it can be done with virtual coaching and there are places in Eastern Texas.

Boogie, I wanted to say thank you for this video! My mom has lymphedema and has had it for years, but it was always difficult to explain to people who didn't know. My mom has always felt embarrassed about her legs and her feet and felt alone in her situation. Recently, she's learning that she's not the only one! I think it's super cool of you to do this video and to share what you (and my mom) are going through, and I think it's great for people with these disease to see that even really popular youtubers have the same thing and understand! So, thank you Boogie, and I hope it keeps improving for you and you have more good days 💖

Deep South would you stop going around with that bullshit? He is getting help and he's been trying so hard to get healthy. Like did you even watch the video? Or his other videos discussing his health? He's doing everything he can and still looking for what else he can possibly do. Sympathy(and empathy) is the only thing we can give him so why the fuck shouldn't we? Nobody in this comment section knows enough about his health and what he's doing to diagnose or suggest anything to him(honestly a false diagnosis would be more dangerous than possibly lessening his motivating). And I think you may be confusing sympathy/empathy with enabling. Nobody is saying "oh it's okay, you don't have to worry or do anything about it. Everything will be fine, I'm sure it'll clear up on it's own" which would be detrimental to a persons motivation to do something. No, we are saying "Our hearts go out to you and/or we understand and hope you can get better." which in no way would make a person think something like "oh, well I guess I don't have to do anything. thanks guys" which seems to be what you're implying would happen.

I completely know where you are coming from. I personally was in a bad car accident 11 years ago which has impacted myself. I have been diagnosed with Fibro, Nerve damage, knee cap that is slowly disengaging, arthritis, and cervical spine narrowing. now I too am a larger person so yes of course that doesn't help, but I have been a big girl my whole life and still played sports and walked everywhere! now with these conditions I can barely walk or stand for very long without extreme pain and more swelling in my legs and my back! I am trying to keep working for my family but it's getting worse and I don't have money for insurance or medical care. I've lost countless jobs due to absenteeism, because there days I can barely get out of bed. I'm lost, scared, and in pain 24/7. Sorry you are going through that and again I completely understand.

Silver Gel has kept any recurrences completely at bay as has removing sugar from my diet, which is it's food. I had to change my lifestyle but it's very worth it. I feel your pain Boogie. I've been suffering from lymphadema for about 4 months due to an infected ulcer on my right calf. It's going in the right direction now but it's a slow and agonizing process from where the nerves in my legs are growing all the more sensitive to the pain or having it redressed in compression as well as it being cleaned.
I think i share a different opinion that i'd rather lose my leg than cope with this pain any longer, not to mention the costs of all the medication etc but the people i see for treatment are adamant to fix my leg up for me.
Hearing your story makes me feel a bit more grateful that of my situation and i really appreciate that you shared it.

I suffer with Lypmphedema myself, (not self promoting) but i made a video about it not to long ago... i was knocked over by a van when i was 14/15 and had a suspected break in my left foot and leg and always had trouble since, i would always lose my balance, twist my ankle all sorts, then last year i got cellulitis while at work and had to be hospitalised for a few days with antibiotics though a drip. Then afterwards the swelling i sometimes got, never went back down, so i ended up going to the doctor and they told me it was Lypmphedma, i also have other problems like numbness which ive been told aren't related to lypmphedma... but if i had the option of amputation, with the pain and problems i have with my leg and foot... god knows i would jump at the chance! Sorry for wall'o'text but this subject effects me and i know what its like.

hey Boogie, I have a question..
I too have lymphedema.. it started when I hit my leg against something, ignored it, and weeks later had pains and tender skin, went to the hospital, took antibiotics, but eventually had surgery and also had a big hole drilled into my leg to take out an infection.. I've been taking prescription anti inflamitory meds to reduce the swelling. it works, but after a few weeks, sometimes months, I get "sick" and a pain comes to my leg, and I get very strong chills, and have to pretty much bundle up and wait till I sweat it out.
now, my question is.. do any of those synthoms sound familiar to you.? because lymphedema is what they "think it is".. we're not exactly sure.

I knew exactly what it was because my friends dad has the same issue. My dad has a bone infection in his femur after it was broken in a car accident. It sometimes opens up as a funnel wound. Please take care of your legs. Do some kicked back gaming every day and make sure you wear your socks. I don't want anything to happen to you. You could have died from that and if you don't take care of yourself you still can. You are a very important person in my life. You don't know me and I may not know you personally but with you making these videos you have involved yourself in my life and the life of your fans. Your videos have changed me in many ways and have helped me get through hard times.

Just wanted to let you know you are not alone. They scarped mine off with a scalpel while I watched. 17 days in ICU after finding me on my bedroom floor completely incoherent with liver and kidneys shut down. I have the exact scars you have on both legs. ANd two years ago I was at 560 lbs. I now hit the scales at just under 330 but, that cellular leg damage doesnt go away. Currently I am fighting disability again and hopefully the lawyers sort it this time or I will be out of house and home. If you ever wish to talk about what your going through feel to msg me. The guy only has one limb on his entire body. That inspires the fuck out of me and makes me feel like my problems are bullshit problems. I dont think this one armed skateboard guy even knows the meaning of the word excuse let alone afford himself any. No matter what issues boogie has...someone somewhere has wayyyyyy more issues yet doesnt allow them to slow their progress in life. Food for thought.

I have edema, but I wear compression socks and it helps alleviate the swelling. The discoloration never goes away though, once the skin is stretched like that it stays weird red. I also wear shoes and slowly tighten them down as the swelling leaves them. My swelling is worse in my left leg because of my Achilles tendon repair surgery.
Do what you can man, try to get that swelling down, I know how much pain that causes, I'm on morphine and oxy to help stop it myself.
Pic line huh? I was hospitalized for my diabetes once and because they didn't properly flush my IV line, which they weren't using because I was due to be released, but they didn't flush it for a couple days and I ended up with a staph infection, made them throw a pic line in me as well.
We have so damn much in common medically, it's freaky.

Water retention. Your body isn't processing the water and you are swelling. The discoloration could simply be from dead blood cells underneath your skin. If your legs/ankles are bigger at night than when you first wake up, you gotta put your feet up midway through the day to have the swelling subside.

Yeah, cellulitis causes staining. When I developed lymphedema (at 23/male), I got it twice and had to go into the ER for a week at a time for antibioitics. From there the key was decongestive therapy and stockings, i.e long compression socks. I had it as bad as Boogie here. Last stage of the condition and mostly because the local doctors and medical system failed me. The staining on my legs won't go away and that sucks, but at least we got my massive legs down to normal size! My lymph therapist called me a clinical outlier, a near miracle. That was 4 years ago now.
Love you, Boogie. I know the struggle and I wish you the best in continuing treatment for your lymphedema and the current infection.

I'm so sorry that you've had to go through so much pain. I have some edema in my legs (nothing like what you've faced) especially in my left leg where I've had two surgeries (one to repair an injury in my 20's, the other to remove a stage one melanoma on my foot) resulting in poorer than normal fluid return. My left calf is always two inched bigger around than my right calf. It is unpleasant to deal with and sometimes my skin does get funky, but I work really hard to keep the skin healthy using a variety of lotions, scrubbies, and antibiotic or antifungal ointments as needed. You're right: a person cannot tell just by looking what someone else has been through. No one can look at my "big" calf or (mean term) cankle and know that it's a result of two surgeries. They might just judge me as having "big ugly legs", which says more about them than it does about me. Take care!

This is common amongst obese people since they tend to have bad circulation. Minor injuries can get worse for them since the circulation is so bad. That's why both legs are so dark, because of poor circulation. If the darkness was from the injury then it would only be in one leg.

Ardelle Xiu John Hunter is not wrong. Boogie has congestive heart failure. This is what someone that weighs over 500 pounds legs will look like. It's not because of an infection. The reason the original wound didn't heal is because of Boogies severe overweight body, diabetes, and heart failure. Unfortunately, Boogie is in denial. Think about this... His heart is working 2-4 times harder to keep him alive. I love Boogie too, but he is in denial.

Hits home Boogie. I got an infection in my left leg at university which quickly ulcerated (over pre-existing scar tissue). Run around from the doctors, inconsistent opinions, more infections, etc. Came close to septic with early signs of necro. I've justy, after nearing 4 years of open/closed/open/closed, cleared myself from it. But I developed swelling legs, and have to manage it.
But if your legs are bad, why are they not under compression and you should have them raised.
Ultimately though, you know what caused it, and what makes it worse. I'm a big guy too, but after getting close to loosing my leg, I make looking after it my daily priority.
