  • The charity I mentioned in this video is called "remote area medical"
    Here's their site: www.ramusa.org/
    If you need medical help, they might be able to help. If you are a doctor or dentist or a person of means, you might be able to help THEM.
    in this video I begin a series called "story time" in which I tell stories about some of the weirder, more awful, and good stuff I have gone through. In this series I want to talk about the good and bad. I will share with you my childhood, my adult life, what its like to be a youtuber and a lot more. Let me know what you think of this first episode. I'm going to tell you what happened to my teeth

You have the funds, time, and your health is in a much better state, so please No More Excuses. Having your teeth fixed may even give you a confidence boost that may change your way of thinking when it comes to food, and push you even further to continue on that fitness journey. Much love Boogie.

      There’s absolutely NO excuse for not brushing your teeth; gargling is not a substitute. Your gums hurt & bleed because of periodontal disease (gingivitis & periodontitis). Risk for kidney cancer, pancreatic cancer, and blood cancers is much higher for people who have poor oral health. Dementia and possibly even Alzheimer’s disease can result from gingivitis when the bacteria in the mouth spreads to the nerve channels or enters the bloodstream.

    Hello Boogie, as a Dentist, specialized in implants, and by the storyline u told, I can assure you that remove all that's left and go for a 5 - 6 implants and a totally fixed prosthesis is a viable treatment, too bad hearing that it costs so much in the USA. usually it would cost a third of that here in Brazil. Even ppl with low income are implanting new teeth around here. I kinda know about that cuz I treated some Brazilians that live in US and Europe. As long as you have enough bone structure, it's fast and relatively easy to help.
    Wish you the best on your treatment. If you need any assist or have any doubt. Would be glad to help.

    • @ninjamaster3453
      @ninjamaster3453 6 років тому +1

      hellgun what about that caved in look from bone loss? I heard u need to keep as many bottom teeth to retain jaw bone as possible.
      Or is the situation u speak of so far gone it warrants it?

    • @paulogazolla7488
      @paulogazolla7488 6 років тому +2

      Ninja Master each individual person will lose bone in a different way and speed, and there are also many other variants such as infections broken tooth or roots. But in general, the sooner you solve the infection and set the implant in, The better the bone will be, a bigger bone also allow us to set in a bigger implant. wich will give the new tooth greater support.
      It's also possible the do a bone graft. With 4 kinds of different materials to choose.

    It’s pretty amazing that you’re putting this out there. While some of it is on you that your teeth got so bad, a good portion of it is not your fault. Genetics, neglect (or maybe even outright abuse like you suspect), socialization, and poverty played huge roles. It’s a good thing for people to remember when thinking of making fun of someone for their teeth.

  • @m.b.boyack2228

    Hey Boogie, don't want to upset you, but as I am dentally in similar situation as yourself and researching tooth loss/dentures just wanted to let you know not everyone is able to have dental implants. It is entirely dependent on the integrity, strength and thickness of especially the lower jaw (mandible). Some patients are only able to support implants after bone grafting which is obviously further surgical expense and risk. The assessment of the Jaw's integrity can only be done after all the teeth & roots have been excised and the jaw's have fully healed. You will definitely need removable dentures even if only temporarily. Good Luck!

      Some places do implants specifically for people with bone loss problems. It is different implants that anchor in a way that works better when you have bone issues.

    • @tygerstripes3752
      @tygerstripes3752 6 років тому +2

      And I will add that implants need to be done fairly soon after an extraction. The jaw needs to heal, but if left too long, it will recede and there will be no place to secure the steel implant to secure the tooth onto.

    To all the kids and teens out there, DON’T NEGLECT YOUR TEETH! Don’t make the mistakes I’ve made, you will 100% regret them.
    Brush your teeth 2-3 times a day, use a water pik flosser, and for the love of god, GO TO THE DENTIST! Things will only get worse if you don’t go

      Lars Bødtger You can still perceive your upbringing as rough or difficult. You shouldn't let harsher stories take away from what you had to deal with. Everyone is different: different experiences, different understandings, and different levels of resilience.
      Boogie has gone through hell, yes. You may have gone through a similar, different, less or worse hell depending on who is viewing it. Share your story regardless, and let others know they aren't alone. Maybe it will help others understand or begin healing.

      Had the same problem with my teeth. Parents never made me brush till I had a problem and went to see a dentist at age 9. Then I got 2 root canals, 1 tooth removed and a bunch of fillings, huge holes in my teeth had to be filled. Not easy when you have a fear of the dentist having to go there for extensive dental surgery multiple times when everyone else around only has ever had simple cavities. Thanks mom. Doesn't take responsibility till this day I'm 17 and she still says it's my fault as if I was suppose to know to brush me teeth at age 1-9?? No kid wants to do it, parents are suppose to make you.

      I used to work as a family advocate and I remember a client who lost her teeth during pregnancy. I came to visit her and her family one week and.....her two front teeth were gone. I ran back to my office to do some research and learned that between 60% & 70% of women experience gingivitis while pregnant due increased levels of the hormone, progesterone, which in turn causes an increased response to plaque bacteria which can lead to gingivitis and in severe cases tooth decay and loss😱😬

    Just got back from the dentist today, had depression, suicidal thoughts, abuse in every way just like you talk about. I wanted to die and took up chewing tobacco. I’m still in so much pain but I quit the habit, and no longer want to die. After the dentist today, they said I just need root scaling and planning. It’ll cost me 1000 dollars which will not be easy but needs to get done in order of a better life. I owe it to a lot of people throughout my life that I need to make it up too. Until I can afford it, I’ll have to live with the pain but NO cancer signs which makes my anxiety calm down. Depression is a motherfucker but I’ve gotten almost completely out of it, if I can do it, so can all of us. I’m around if anyone needs to talk about shit, I know I needed it before. You actually can have extensive dental issues from pregnancy. My teeth pretty much crumbled from having my boys, even while brushing twice daily, flossing, going to the dentist, not eating much sugar, and taking vitamins. It sucks. I still have thousands of dollars of work to have done. =/ And my older son was born with no enamel on his teeth, so we're doing damage control until his adult teeth come in.
    Long story short, I know about dental trauma, and I'm sorry that you're still dealing with issues from it.

    My teeth got f-ed up for the exact same reasons yours did. Neglectful , abusive mom who didn’t want to take care of her kids. Funny thing is, she brushed her teeth religiously and I never understood what she was doing and each time I asked she told me “don’t worry about it”. Then in second grade the teachers did the entire “brushing” thing and explained it to us. I was actually exited to brush my teeth and my mom just told me I didn’t need it. Then when I was old enough to know better , I was too depressed to care about any hygiene.

      That is so frustrating as a parent to read...I have 2 daughters, they are 7 and 5. Our 7 year old has lovely teeth, totally normal! Our 5 year old used to fight us, it got to the point where we would have to wrap her in a towel and try to scrub as she cried. It was horrible. She has just been diagnosed with high functioning autism and so we now have answers as to why she would fight us so much. Unfortunately she's had to have some extractions already but now she's been diagnosed we have a special dentist who works with us and now we have her brushing her teeth like a champ three times daily! It's wonderful!
      They say her adult teeth will be fine but she may need braces due to the baby teeth not being a guide for the adult teeth to come into!
      I'm sorry that your mother did this to you, it awful!

    • @miriam7872
      @miriam7872 6 років тому +1

      Having an infection spread to another organ and treating that is even more expensive. I understand that health insurance in the US SUCKS but if there's any way - please don't take the gamble! Maybe set every coin aside you can and try to go from there.
      I wish I could send you my dentist overseas. I always hated going (Which is why I didn't for about 4 years) but finally found someone who is very kind and only fixed my cavities with a lot of local anesthesia (that and any non-fancy dentist appointment is in our universal health care plan so I didn't even pay a cent). Luckily I was still early enough to not have an infection, but fixing 16 cavities still sucked.

    • @omgwtfbbqwinsawce
      @omgwtfbbqwinsawce 6 років тому

      That's awesome! I'm glad you were able to get your situation remedied! Dental insurance and services are, what feels like, a luxury here. Dental insurance is $25-$75 a month on average, not including the $100+ for just filling a cavity. I had a tooth root canaled for $750, and never had the $1000+ for a cap, so it's just filled in.
      I'm currently unemployed, as I was laid off to outsourcing, and with the litany of other issues I have, seeking employment is difficult. There are solutions, but sadly none are as cut and dry as save money then go to dentist.
      Here's to hoping we sort this out, and find some way to make things more affordable here.

    • @miriam7872
      @miriam7872 6 років тому +1

      Oh wow. I think that's honestly kinda sad. I mean, we also have to pay 250€ (metal) - 400€ (ceramics) for a cap but everything that's a necessity like a root canal or wisdom teeth removal is in our standard medical insurance. (Wich is mandatory! And if you can prove you can't afford it/are unemployed the state pays it for you) If I wanted to - I could get dental insurance which would even pay for the fancy stuff for around 20-40€ a month more. I've heard people say that the medical procedures are better quality in the US... but honestly who cares if nobody can afford it? I just wanna not be in pain or die
      As long as you're taking care of stuff like root infections - you're at least not in real danger! But those things are way too painful to ignore anyway. I've only ever had a tooth-ache from deep cavities and those were bad enough, oh boy
      I wish there were at least more organizations like the one boogie talked about. From what I've read stuff like that is quite a widespread problem.
      Honestly wishing you the best of luck for your job search as well as your teeth man!

      I went to Bulgaria to have 8 crowns done and the service and quality of work was fantastic and in my opinion it was as good as I'd of got in the UK. I've made a list of what it cost me vs what the local dentists wanted, the price of the Bulgarian crowns were for 8 full porcelain crowns so not the cheap option could of had the work done for half the price if I wasn't fussy about the material of the crowns.
      8 crowns £1200 ($1530)
      flights cost £250 ($318)
      3 nights in a 4* hotel £120 ($153)
      Total - £1570 ($2002)

      Is it unusual for Americans to have bad teeth? Brits are known for their bad teeth! Mine have improved thanks to private dental care... Had my first tooth filling aged 5! 😱 The NHS provides free dentistry for children until 16.

    • @scoobydude1999
      @scoobydude1999 5 років тому

      @@dinosaurtreesflowers It's not unusual, especially for people with European heritage. The thing about America is that a lot of people are so obsessed with having good teeth, that they are willing to pay thousands of dollars to give their children extensive dental work early on in life. There's a higher amount of people here with straight teeth than in the UK, but that's mostly due to ethnicity. A lot of black and latino folks have very nice teeth without needing any dental work. It all depends on jaw shape and tooth size.

    I'm 19 and I'm gonna lose one of my teeth, the top second molar to be exact. Thankfully you won't be able to see it missing unless I open my mouth super wide. It is definitely my fault for not taking better care of my teeth. I've had severe depression that made even brushing my teeth or taking a shower extremely difficult. 2 years ago I went to the dentist and they said I needed a root canal, but I couldn't afford it. Being a dumb teenager (still dumb) I thought if I just brushed more often it would fix itself. Now the tooth is broken in half and I gotta get it extracted. Bottom line, take care of your teeth kids, I'm still technically a teenager and I'm gonna have a hole in my mouth cuz I was an idiot.

I know that these are harder to make than rants but I think a lot of audience members (myself included) would love to see another. I'm gonna look into that charity. I could use some free medical care, especially dental care. I do take care of my teeth and I do brush them twice-a-day everyday, but it's been a few years since I've visited a dentist and I should probably visit one soon. I need to get my wisdom teeth removed. I need to get my two front teeth on my top row repaired and I need four other fillings in the front and that is what I can see in a mirror. I'm sure I need some fillings on my molars too. I would also love to do either braces or Invisalign to realign my teeth. I am gonna look into this charity. This was an awesome video.
    I love watching your videos. They are always interesting videos. My family also has a history of bad dental care and the only reason my older brother still has his teeth is because he went thru the military and they saved his teeth, because that's something they do in the military. The only reason I still have my teeth is because of my ocd.
    I think I should go brush my teeth.

      Ali Beli thanks, I see a therapist but I hide it from everyone else because the people who cares for me would feel bad if I’m sad so I don’t want them to know. Therapy is helpful because I can talk to someone but it’s slow and I’m not really getting any better. Thanks for your comment

    I love your story time! It breaks my heart when I hear about the abuse you had to endure, it is truly an inspiration as to how well you deal with everything. You should be so proud of your accomplishments Boogie. And I’ve always noticed the twinkle in your eye before your smile. You are a beautiful man as is, and I can’t wait to see you with an even more beautiful smile with all new teeth, you deserve it :)

    Hey Boogie, I'm 26 and I was pretty much on the same path as you with my teeth, definitely not as bad but at 26 I absolutely regret not getting regular check ups and only infrequently brushing (without bothering with floss or mouthwash).
    I just had a tooth completely fall apart in the back and went to get a check up to reveal I needed 2 root canals (almost 3!) and 6 fillings among other things. :(
    They told me the total cost of everything I would need done would be $3,900 (WITH a dental discount plan without it was nearly $6,000!). So now I have to try to figure out what to do while in pain.
    I can't express how much I regret never taking care of my teeth when I absolutely had the means in my early 20s because I lived rent free and had nearly no expenses outside of my disgusting addiction to video games.
    Now I have too many bills, no insurance, and can't get any work done simply because I can't afford it in my current financial situation.
    Hoping I can find a local low income clinic to help me out..
    I've been beating myself up really bad the past few months about the poor condition of my teeth and I implore everyone to take better care of their teeth as well, mine could be a lot worse but they could also be a lot better. It's really silly that so many of us neglect such a simple task daily..
    Please take care of your teeth everyone.
    Get regular check ups, brush, floss, use mouthwash, it'll save you a lot of pain and money in the long run..

    My grandmom lost all her teeth after birthing her fourth child. It's a thing. Not sure how it happens.

      SocietyOfSensation - biologically speaking, baby comes first. The body takes calcium from the bones to build the skeleton of the new baby if your not consuming enough. The teeth are just bones.

      It's not. He parents didn't bring him up to brush his teeth. It's his parents fault. The point of the video is to explain why his teeth is like that cos fans were curious. Hope you get it now

    Not sure if this will help, but I have some ideas and suggestions:
    1. Check out dental insurance online! Make sure you look at coverage for implants, extractions, oral surgery, and dentures and see if there's a waiting period for getting work done and if so, how long it is.
    2. Some health insurance companies will cover some dental work and/or oral surgeries... It might only be if your health is at risk, but if you have health insurance, it couldn't hurt to make sure.
    3. Research dentists that specialize in helping people with dentalcare phobias etc. I'm sure there are specialists out there somewhere.
    4. Look into possibly finding a dentist that would let you "shadow" them for a period of time... I'd think, logically, hanging out and seeing people come in and leave "intact" lol would help out with the anxiety.
    5. See if there's a reputable fan that's a dentist or dental assistant or a clinic nearby that would allow you to do a video about your dental work or a shout out in exchange for free or discounted services.
    6. Get a soft bristle toothbrush, sensitive teeth toothpaste, and brush those toofers twice a day! 😋
    7. Keep being you and don't stress about it too much. We love you man! 🤗💋💞

    Hey boogie. I’m a dentist. Root canal specialty, specifically.
    I’m thankful you shared your story. Poor oral health can lead to SO many systemic issues. I can’t say ultimately about your treatment plan, but I will say this. Please get any root tips out ASAP. You will end up with chronic abscesses with those tips still in there. Seriously life threatening!!! Secondly look into “All in four” it’s a combination of implants and full dentures that could make your life significantly better and easier. They are still expensive, but nowhere near 40-50k. Please don’t hesitate to hit me up if you have any more questions.

    I know you probably won't read this but I have always been self concious about my teeth. I started invisalign 2 months ago and the results so far have been amazing.
    I normally don't care about what other people think, but I noticed when making videos or taking pictures I would not smile which was a clear sign that I need to get them fixed. I have been taking progress pictures every other week and watching your progress videos helps me stay motivated to keep them on.

    I ABSOLUTELY adored you already... But this is soooooo real! I myself have very few teeth left intact now. I was surprised on how little help there is for dental in the "real world" I have also removed 3 of my teeth so far, and it takes a whole nother level of balls to be open about it. Thank you for sharing! You are not alone boogie... And i hope one day soon you can do replacents. Let everyone see how beautiful you are 😍
