Regarding having to waste water while waiting for the shower to heat up: one could always hold a little bucket under the shower head, collect the cold water, and use it for other uses later on (washing hands or dishes, put it in the cat’s water bowl, boil it and fill your water bottle, whatever). It’s a lovely little peanut….it suits you! 👍
I love that idea. to that I might add preheating a bucket of water in the kitchen, pouring it over my head upon entering the shower, soaping up, then rinsing as Jessie suggested. T
Just a idea for taking a navy shower in your tankless water heater. You could put a five gallon bucket on the toilet. Fill the bucket from shower head in your rv and buy one of those camp shower set ups.
The depravity of some people just never ceases to amaze me! I think you can also install a gorilla lock on the hitch and absolutely nothing can connect to it. That way, no ball connection no towing away.
We love our rig! I feel like a spoiled brat when telling about it though. My husband and I have a 45 ft Tiffin Allegro Bus. We will be going full time next year. We travel with our 2 little dogs and just really wanted a comfortable "home" to live in. Maybe after traveling a couple of years we will feel the need to downsize, but we have grandkids that will want to spend time with us now and then and I won't go anywhere without my sewing machine and quilting supplies.
I wish the Basecamp 20 was more affordable at dealerships. It's basically the reason we purchased a used flying cloud for about the same price as the markup at dealerships.

When I 1st started looking at being a nomad I was looking at the Airstream 16ft Bambi. I loved the back where you could store your laundry...LOL. I have taken all the things I have loved with all the rigs I have considered and built my own Cargo Trailer Conversion-Jet Girl. She is a 5X10 that I can stand in (barely). I have a galley kitchen in the back, removable wood burning stove, poor man's composting toilet, a bed I get the best night's sleep in, plenty of storage for all my hobbies, 200w solar with a 100Ah LiFePO4 battery, and clearance where I can go anywhere with my 4Runner pulling...and I love it! Best part is if something goes awry mechanically I know how to fix it. You were a huge inspiration to me when I was first thinking of being a nomad...and you still are. Hope to see you on the road sometime 🤗 P.S. I grew up in New Mexico-truly The Land of Enchantment!
Welcome to the Airstream club! I have the 20fb Caravel and live in it full time here in Texas. It’s perfect for me and my German Shepherd. Some of the 5th Wheel owners comment how small it is, but I think it’s perfect and don’t stress about hooking it up to my Tahoe and traveling. Like you, I am a single female so traveling small and simple with no stress is priority. I have the Weigh Safe weight distribution hitch installed and it has worked really well for me for over two years. The system allows you to see the actual weight on your hitch and its also really easy to level with the low Airstream hitch
We enjoyed this. My wife and I live full-time in our 2021 Caravel 19cb and tow it with a Jeep Gladiator (w/tow package). It has been a perfect set-up for us.
I live full-time off-grid in my 1960 Airstream and I love it. Mine is 21' by 7' and I have lots of storage. I took out the middle twin beds, kitchen and made the front couch into my twin bed. I filled the trailer with metal shelves and with the large windows I have lots of light and a lot of space to grow my micro and baby greens. I bought a twin mattress that I put on the floor for my dogs, plus it keeps the floor much warmer in the winter. I have three large dogs and a four pound Maltese, plus I'm dog sitting two of my friends dogs, so the mattress works great. I love your little peanut, it's so cute🥰
Peanut 🥜 is adorable!! Congratulations Robyn. We have a fifth wheel but I wanted a small camper to run around with while the fifth wheel is parked. After months of research I settled on the snoozie2 . I even drove to someone's house to tour one. I had dreams of setting it up as my own little she shed. Than I threw my back out. Now my back is very tender and easy to throw out again. On top of my other physical disabilities, I had that talk with the hubby which brought my balloon 🎈 back down to earth. There is no way I'd have the strength and with the vertigo issues be able to hook up and pull it without his help. So ..... I've switched gears and am now dreaming of a no build van build of which hubby is very excited to help me accomplish 😁.
RVing can be wonderful. We must be fully realistic about our physical condition and abilities as we acquire injuries. For the last three years I’ve had five small to significant injuries that have greatly changed my abilities. I love the fact that you stated “brought your balloon back to earth”, not burst your balloon.❤
We full time in an Aliner Scout - also TINY! best things - height and windows. Hardest thing - storage is so challenging! I love your litter box fix. It's not an option in ours. Ours goes under the dinette.
Going back to one of your first videos regarding why you went on the road, I added that 'do it now or it won't get done' attitude to my life and after 3 years of saving I'm the proud owner of a new to me vintage rv that fits my style and needs. So thank you for being a part of that process. It was just the kick in the pants I needed. I can't go full time just yet (elderly parental responsibilities) but she's there for weekends, and as my mobile office so YAY! Someday I'll get a newer vehicle but I wasn't ready for the commitment and this seems like a good stepping stone. I'm so happy you found your little peanut. I would have one in a heart beat if I felt the least bit confident about a trailer over a motorhome.
We live full time in our keystone Premier. We have a big trip to South Dakota to renew our drivers license and didn’t want to pull the big rig, so, we bought an Aliner Scout! After being on the road since 2012, we’ve learned a few tricks and we’re thrilled with this little “adventure mobile” !
I have been watching u for yrs and I love your channel! I bought your book and it was so inspirational and helpful to me! I found you on Utube when I was trapped in ND making 6 figures, I had golden handcuffs and knew I was going to die at my table, that I could never leave that $. Your story was my story in so many ways! So, I slowly stopped buying things, (I was spending all the $ I made trying to medicate my misery), and when Covid hit I sold my small biz and everything else I could, and moved in w my elderly parents. During that yr I re educated w the specific purpose of Mobil employment w the goal of more and more travel less and less time wkg as I age from 60 to 65. So! Over the last 3 yrs I have become a groomer, have a dog of my own for the 1st time in ten yrs because living w my 94 y.o. mom gives me doggy day care while I'm at wk and she loves it, and I just bought a Van! Even tho I now have pmnts, I feel like my adventure has finally begun. I am going on overnighters and getting all the kinks wrkd out in my 'no build' set up, and putting every penny into pay off. I hear your voice in my heart saying, 'be free', and it is a beacon of happiness! Thought you should know, thank you for all you do.
Hey Robin, it is cute. As for not wasting water in the shower,I keep a bucket with a lid in there to fill then reuse the water for flushing the toilet. Comes in handy and I don't feel bad cause water is being reused. Enjoy your new little Peanut, as always Be Safe and Be Happy!! From Apache Junction AZ
Love 💘 your rig. Solo female part-time camper. 🇬🇧 I was a hike and tent gal until I was flooded out in one storm. I did in advance pre-set up my then tiny car in a emergency. It was a well thought out plan. Ever since then I carry a small tent but part-time car camp, first in a chevy spark, then C3 Picasso citeron, now in a bigger SUV. Love it. The freedom it gives. Love hiking, nature and travelling. After the loss of my beautiful mum, this was the push I needed. I love Febuary onwards as camp when I can around work. Helps with mental health. I have the benefit of camping with family and friends in a large tent and solo in my car. Best of both worlds. Cheaper to travel. Forever changing my layout in car with no builds. Think I have solved recent issues. It does mean sometimes wasting money, but luckily I have passed things on. This set up feels great. Camping this week. ❤ stay blessed.
When I was a small child 2+ my family had a 53' airstream that my mom would pull to wherever my dad's job took us. There were 6 of us at the time. My older sister and brother would have been 11-13 and my brother next to me would have been 3+. My bed was the wheel well most of the time. It wasn't super big considering the amount of people, but we made it work. For a solo traveler your Peanut would be big enough, for me I think I would like about 3 more feet. That would make a huge difference, I'm sure you agree. At least with your Jeep you can store things that you could use outdoors like your rug and chairs, camp stove if you plan on cooking outside, and any number of other things. Congrats on your new "tiny home" Happy travels.
Robin: I've watched this channel for years. I'm amazed on how many RV types you've cycled through in a relatively short period of time. Good Luck on your "Peanut".
Such a cute little camper! I used to have a Basecamp, and I always kept my bed made up. I think your Peanut has the best of the Basecamp and Bambi. You get a lightweight trailer with a wet bath, dedicated bed, and room for a kitty box! Congratulations!
I love my all fiberglass 17' Casita Spirit Deluxe (with wet bath: toilet and inside shower) 3way refrigerator, 4-person dinette that makes into a full size bed and another separate 2-person dinette that makes into a separate twin bed if you want. Kitchen sink, two burner propane stove, microwave, television, outside shower, and more! Easy to tow, and easy to set up. It withstands weather better than an Airstream. The Casita can be pelted with hail and not receive a scratch. Unlike the Airstream which would look like a golf ball. It is practically waterproof, of course there's always a chance of a leak at the window but the roof will never leak. The body is made of two fiberglass halves that are put together. It practically has zero maintenance unless you buy an abused used one. If you need more room there's also a much more expensive fiberglass trailer made by Oliver and another brand called Escape, and Bigfoot. Scamp also makes a fiberglass trailer but it is lower quality in my personal opinion. But I am 100% sold on fiberglass trailers.
Thank you, Robin! You can make anything work! It is inspiring to see how much you learned from being on the road - used, not new, smaller not bigger and there are pros and cons with any rig, just make it work!
Good for you, Robin. We have had our Airstream 16RB Bambi for 6 years, and love it. We use a Toyota 4Runner to tow. We are not total full times, but we take 3-month trips every year, touring America, so will full time for long stretches of time. During this time, we have learning many lessons, and tricks especially for the 16 footer. We organize every nook and cranny, while still keeping the interior stylish and comfy. If you are interested, I am happy to send photos and descriptions of Miss Rivets. There are nesting cookware to save space, translucent lidded organization boxes that fit in the roof lockers, replace regular batteries with a single lithium and stow it under the dining seat next to the water tank. Yes, it fits. Now that you have freed up space on the A-frame with the batteries under the dining seat, you have room to mount 2 5-gallon storage jugs: one water and on for extra gasoline. Lastly, for now, replace the 90 watt rooftop solar with two 100 watt flexes.
Wer're in year three in a Momentum 397. It's me, my hubster, three cats who have their own brathroom and our little dog. The last three years have been an amazing adventure and we finally found where we want to settle down and build our homestead.
Love your “Peanut.” I have a class c Jayco 22J. It works well for me as I am not comfortable towing. I travel with two dogs. I’m looking forward to seeing your new adventures with Peanut. Safe travels!
Cute! If you ever need more space, I pull a 20 ft. trailer with a Jeep Grand Cherokee with the V8 engine. My trailer has plenty of storage, a large frig and freezer, and a full dry bathroom.
Do you save the water while waiting for it to get warm? You could use it to flush the toilet. Ain't no shame in the conserve water game. Peanut is soooo cute.!
I came upon you inadvertently, and I enjoyed your stories. I even started crying a little bit while I was watching you in your camper during the storm. I’m a sensitive soul. Have a good nomad life.
We have a 15’ vintage camper mostly original inside, tricked out with 400 watts of solar on the roof and 200 watts of portable power and an 1800 watt inverter. We love our girl Frannie and we take her everywhere with our red Ford truck Freddie. We are currently boondocking near Joshua Tree National Park. We love the ease of set up and tear down.
Called it! The curved window was the giveaway. I own a 1959 Trade Wind 26 foot. It was professionally restored by P&S Trailer in Helena, Ohio. Best decision ever. It's a work of art.
I sooooo want a Bambi! We visit the RV shows every year, but we are about a decade away from retiring and we do not have enough vacation time to have the cost make sense yet. We usually fly to see family. But one day……we will RV to family!
Nice rig! You’ve tried out a bunch of kinds and I hope to try a few others myself but for now I’m happy in my little 6x12 cargo trailer. I keep it under 2k and keep it simple. Currently home and removing a lot of stuff I have lugged around for the last 8 months but never used. Live and learn! We don’t need much at all on this journey.
When we began our RV journey, we fell for the "buy the biggest rig you can afford! You'll need the space!" nonsense. After a year of travel, we looked at all the *non-used* space and carped "stupid." I'm not one to pack the whole house in an RV, unlike some. Buying an RV was partly meant to get away from all those chores.
I have a 2017 Keystone summerland. Carrie Ann the caravan is 21 feet long it had bunks but I removed the upper and now have sleeping for an adult. She had almost everything on my dream list. No slides, through the wall ac, full bath. I painted and “pretty” the interior to make her mine. Love camping in her too much room for one person but hopefully some friends might decide to join lol
Showers! My Lance does the same thing. Frikkin cold water after pausing it. BUT you can do a navy shower. Just put it on pause, keep it off the wall mount (I loop mine over the control knob), lather up, hold the shower nozzle pointing at the floor, and unpause. When the warm returns, you can hang it up again. You’re welcome. 😉
For your shower, look into a Water Miser showerhead. It saves water while it's heating. No waste. We have a new E-pro FBS we got right before CA decided to have snow and rain lol. We are going to take it out when the weather is a little better for our first time. We don't think going under a weather challenge for a first run is a great way to start off. We have an all electric fridge too and I plan to run it off battery while it's parked at home to see how long it can last. Run maybe the fan too for a little reality since the heater needs a fan and we want to be sure it won't kill the batteries too quickly.
Don't laugh, but I have a 13` 1974 Ventura (fiberglass) trailer that doesn't have a bathroom (luggable loo is my friend) I pull her with my jeep Cherokee trailhawk that has a tow package. Her name is Pipsqueak. She has been renovated inside and out. I seldom camp in campgrounds, majority of the time I'm boondocking off our logging roads up here in Canada. Your little Peanut is 'almost' as cute as my Pipsqueak. ;-)
I'm just amazed at all the travel combos you have tried out. You're an inspiration. Can't travel myself with a medically compromised husband and a horse and donkey, but love following your adventures.
The button on the side of your shower head is for stopping the water, I've had that style before. Congrats on the new Bambi I hope it serves you well on your journey!
You asked about your viewer's setups. I thought I would share our setup. My wife and I are not full timing but are looking to go out for months at a time. Our current rig is an InTech Luna Rover. The Luna is a midsized teardrop with an outdoor kitchen in the back. We pull it with our Jeep Wrangler which only has a 3500lb tow limit. I have some solar on the roof of it and have just installed a very nice Internet router / external antenna on it. We have three places we can work: normally there is an awning room attached to one side of the Luna for one of us. The other will work in a detached gazebo room. If the weather is crazy bad, one of us can work in the Luna itself. We are only finalizing the setup right now, so we will see how it goes! The hope is to do our first 3-month trip out west later this year!
Robin, you really should have started by talking about your boy. He wasn't mentioned in the last video, nor in the first half of this video. He is good, whew!
Well, OK then. Because it is an Airstream Bambi, you are forgiven for giving us the teaser in the last video 😂. Congrats on the new camper. Looks like an excellent choice!
I’ve been wanting a Bambi for over ten years. Working full time but ready for early retirement from my job, to working with something I’m passionate about & living on the go….. with pets lol. Places to see!
Love the Bambi! I'm a fellow Coloradoan and I've been watching your channel since the early days. I like to see how you transition from rig to rig. I started camping in a Honda Element five years ago, then graduated to a Volkswagen Eurovan Camper. I wanted something simpler, newer and more reliable so I got a Ford Transit Connect mini van and did a "no build" build out. Now, I have a Ford Transit, with a "no build' build out that meets my needs perfectly! It has the best features of all the vehicles and I can stand up, inside. Thanks for all your encouragement!
I love your new little Peanut and when you said you got a disco ball my face lite up. You go GIRL that is so awesome. O have a Jayc O that I feel is too space without abathroom sink but we do adapt. My husband found a tiny wall sink that works with the shower. I don't know how it'll work but I like washing my hands before leaving bthrm!! I feel for you with the small water tanks.More than once I've had to scream for hubby to go dump. We have only just begun and will not be going to many places and probably not boondocking.I enjoy ur videos and your great sense of humor. Ive seen a slightly bigger Airstream in our neighborhood neighborhood that I always admire. They are just so cute . Safe travels!!!!!
Your peanut is so nice. I am 63 yo and thinking this is how I want to live for a few or more years. I think I would prefer a camper van. Something small but don’t want to have to come out of my camper to get in drivers seat , maybe that’s not such a big deal. I enjoyed your video. Thanks
Your video popped up. I've lived full-time in a 2021 16RB since 2021, and I've done a lot of upgrades. I'm a snowboarder and technology lover. More roof solar, key-less entry, 2 x 30 lbs propane, 3 x 100ah heated LiPO, 1200W inverter. I wanted a 19-20', but it was a year wait. Now, I can't think of ever leaving it. It's so efficient, and I can park in tight places. No one minds me staying overnight. Message, if you have any questions.
very nice little camper.... I used to travel in a converted shuttle bus, but when I upgraded my sign-making equipment to a large format color printer I needed something larger. So now I'm converting an 8x16 V-nose cargo trailer into an RV and mobile sign shop. I kept build videos on my YT channel "theamericanwanderer" on the shuttle bus conversion and now the cargo trailer... Im in Wilmington, nc, and hope to be far enough along to hit the road the first of October.. this will be dependent on finding a tow vehicle I can afford... truck prices are starting to come down a little
We have a 16’ Bambi, we love ours. We are going to convert the table and benches to a couch with a removable table so it’s more comfortable lounging. Ours is a little different in that we have a microwave above our stove which provides more storage under the sink and next to the frig. We have a gas/electric frig which does a great job. We stayed in it for several summers as we worked on our cottage on Lake Huron. Enjoy you little peanut. We loves ours.
So far, you have bought every single rig or camper I was thinking about purchasing. Really appreciate you being my guinea pig. I can not believe that the tiffin was such a huge pile of 💩. Enjoy and safe travels.
Recently retired, on a fixed income, but I'm handy. So I went with a cargo trailer that I'm converting into a weekend get-a-way camper. Hope to have it done by summer. Thanks for sharing your new home!
Just putting the finishing touches on my self converted Skoolie. Then I'm off! I am living full time in here though. It was the windows of a bus that swayed me this way. Nothing like seeing everything! I've always loved the airstreams. And as I recall, it was an airstream that made you curious about this life. Congratulations and nice choice. Thanks for the video! 😎✌️🐾
On your water use in the shower. If you put a valve between the shower valves and the hose you can reduce the water flow which should keep your water heater working without useing as much water.
Such a cool idea for the litter box. Love your new tiny PEANUT! Very, very adequate provisions and stylish too. Disco ball...why not! Stay safe Robin. 🕊

I was thinking same also! Or make a loop and recycle it back into the water tank.

Exactly
Great idea!
Your voice tonality and cadence are perfect! Speedy enough for us short attention spanners but not too fast! Always a pleasure, Robin!💎🙏
I agree. She's comfortable in front of a camera and she includes all the important points.
Hello Robin, neat little job you have their and my gosh are people rving everywhere. Thank you and catch you later Robin❤❤❤
Just a idea for taking a navy shower in your tankless water heater. You could put a five gallon bucket on the toilet. Fill the bucket from shower head in your rv and buy one of those camp shower set ups.
I love the little ones!! That's where I'm leaning, small, light, easy to pull.❤
Love it. I suggest getting a wheel lock. I’ve seen a few UA-camrs have their smaller trailers stolen while they where out in their tow vehicle.
and a ring camera!
The depravity of some people just never ceases to amaze me!
I think you can also install a gorilla lock on the hitch and absolutely nothing can connect to it. That way, no ball connection no towing away.
I love this little camper but I love the Airstream 16x more because its so cute and tiny and you can take it anywhere! Nice camper!❤

I have had my 16’ Airstream for 7 years now and I love it so much.
How many of you ladies are drooling over Robin's darling Airstream and Cherokee setup? So cute and perfect!!
10 years airstreaming 2 units....loved them. So
..... I've switched gears and am now dreaming of a no build van build of which hubby is very excited to help me accomplish 😁.
Sounds like a wise move. Enjoy your van.
RVing can be wonderful. We must be fully realistic about our physical condition and abilities as we acquire injuries. For the last three years I’ve had five small to significant injuries that have greatly changed my abilities. I love the fact that you stated “brought your balloon back to earth”, not burst your balloon.❤
The little rigs are the best! Everything you need, nothing you don’t! We have an Intech Sol dawn, now if you like windows check out that little baby!
We full time in an Aliner Scout - also TINY!
best things - height and windows. Hardest thing - storage is so challenging!
I love your litter box fix. It's not an option in ours. Ours goes under the dinette.
Yup, serendipity. Cute! Must be a cakewalk to hookup compared to a fifth wheel. The jeep has good storage as well.
Congrats. 🙂
Less can be more.
"New" is always an adjustment.
Enjoy, and be safe.
Another thing we got is a portable 600 watt bluetti and plan on adding more solar panels on top of our truck shell.
Wonderful choice in RV’s. We downsized a few years ago from our 40’ 5th wheel to a 22’ travel trailer best choice ever! So much more freedom and ease!
Airstream is my dream RV. They are so pretty!
Robin: I've watched this channel for years. I'm amazed on how many RV types you've cycled through in a relatively short period of time. Good Luck on your "Peanut".
Add some cig solar panels to your roof. They are simple to install, work great in low light and won’t add tons of weight to your little peanut 🥜
Such a cute little camper! I used to have a Basecamp, and I always kept my bed made up. I think your Peanut has the best of the Basecamp and Bambi. You get a lightweight trailer with a wet bath, dedicated bed, and room for a kitty box! Congratulations!
😄 1,2 turn- 1, 2 turn!! 😄❤ Have fun, be safe, bless Robyn.
Congrats, we purchased a Pottery Barn Airstream. Picking it up in June. Can't wait to see you on the road.
Such a cute little peanut ☺
Wer're in year three in a Momentum 397. It's me, my hubster, three cats who have their own brathroom and our little dog. The last three years have been an amazing adventure and we finally found where we want to settle down and build our homestead.
I love the lil Peanut!!!!❤
Love your “Peanut.” I have a class c Jayco 22J. It works well for me as I am not comfortable towing. I travel with two dogs. I’m looking forward to seeing your new adventures with Peanut. Safe travels!
Cute! If you ever need more space, I pull a 20 ft. trailer with a Jeep Grand Cherokee with the V8 engine. My trailer has plenty of storage, a large frig and freezer, and a full dry bathroom.
Cute Robin. You will like traveling somewhere closeby while leaving the peanut sitting.
Reminds me of the Basecamp just a little more spacious and less trail focused.
Your little "Peanut" is ADORABLE!!
I guessed it correctly. Like them alot. Someday I might even grow some you know what's 😂 to try camping instead being a dreamer.
Best of luck Robin.
You started small, went big 2x, and downsized back down to a towable peanut 🥜. Wow. Better than the truck camper thought.
Instead of “Peanut” (which I love), how about Robin’s Nest! It looks wonderful. Many safe travels in it.
Called it! The curved window was the giveaway. I own a 1959 Trade Wind 26 foot. It was professionally restored by P&S Trailer in Helena, Ohio. Best decision ever. It's a work of art.
Love the litter box compartment. That’s perfect.
That is so cool. I am dying to see how this goes. BTW: Pottery Barn has cute Airstream accessories based on their recent collaboration. 😊
@@terria4698 too true! We want to be outdoors more and live simply 😊
I seriously considered buying a Bambi for myself, too. I love them.
I knew it, lol 🤣
You finally got a lil silver Peanut. 🤩
Congrats!🥳
One thing for sure, you're not afraid to try another style of camping, WTG! Slim Potatohead likes them small also.
Bambis and Caravels are so cute! Glad you're happy and cozy.
They call the toilet alternative a grocery bag. Fits perfectly over the bowl under the seat. Oh, buy a shovel. Happy travels!
1-2 turn 1-2 turn 😅😅 I loved your little peanut. You’re doing great with the space!! Safe travels 😊👋
My grandparents lived in three airstreams over the course of thirty years. They traveled all over North America in them.
Peanut is adorable!
Your peanut is really cute and functional. I'm very happy for you.
We used to own a Casita trailer. We often said the best thing about it was that it was small. The worse thing about it was that it was small.
Peanut is adorable. Still loving my LTV FX.
Nice little bird nest. Love that canary yellow hoodie.
So far, you have bought every single rig or camper I was thinking about purchasing. Really appreciate you being my guinea pig. I can not believe that the tiffin was such a huge pile of 💩. Enjoy and safe travels.
Peanut is just SO cute! I love it
Recently retired, on a fixed income, but I'm handy. So I went with a cargo trailer that I'm converting into a weekend get-a-way camper. Hope to have it done by summer. Thanks for sharing your new home!
Congratulations!
Hubby and I owned a 1968 Caravel. Took it all around Alaska & Canada with 2 dogs a Husky and a Chow. Good times!
😎✌️🐾
Oh little peanut is so cute
I was surprised that our local Harbor Freight seems to be carrying the entire line of Jackery generators. COOL!
I am curious to see how you off-road the airstream!!
I always learn something new from you. You look happy and rested and your skin looks amay zing. ✌️
