"One of the most Beautiful cities in the world" woah made my day, I live here, you two are amazing, you should have gone up to the Buda side if the city the fireworks from there are insane !
@@JackandGabExplore Sorry but I am afraid you won't see it again soon, because the actual mayor of Budapest banned both the air show and the fireworks because he thinks its too expensive...truly, he just want to steal more money :/
sorry to be off topic but does any of you know of a way to get back into an instagram account?? I somehow lost my login password. I would love any tricks you can offer me.

Happy to hear that you had a great time here! :) You catched aug. 20. too :) Next time, come at christmas! :) It's a special place to be, believe me! ;)
As a Hungarian living in Budapest I always try to keep away on the 20th of August. I've learnt some new things from this vid. Thanks! Short and informative.
Some tips for 20th August: Festival of Folk Arts at Castle of Buda, and after the air parade, you need to find a spot already for the fireworks. Yeah, that red-white-green was overdoing stuff, the only occasion when we wear it is in a form of cockade on 15th March. That is the actual Independence Day for us, commemorating when we broke from Austrians. 🤗
About the cake of the year, it's pretty easy to find. You go inside the Várkert Bazaar (at the exhibition hall) where you pay to sample a piece of the cake. They also have the bread of the year, which you can sample it in a booth right in front of the entrance of the bazaar. Basically, it's where you'd see many people in line or holding a plate of cake or a bread.
You two seem cool, I'm glad you liked it here :) I'm from Budapest and I was out there last year to watch the fireworks myself haha. Shame it's cancelled this year because of corona though.
"Like nobody is wearing red and green..." Lol...that was the best... Amazing I don't know how I would get along in a country were I would barely be able to read things...
We were just trying to be patriotic lol. In Budapest a bunch of people spoke English but when we were in Debrecen (2nd largest city in Hungary) hardly anyone spoke English.
Haha, it’s not really a thing in Hungary to wear our flag’s colors on national holidays, but it’s very much a thing at football matches. 😂 Younger Hungarians, 30 and below, generally speak pretty decent English.
The alphabet is largely the same as everywhere in Europe. You research the attractions in advance, and everything has an English name, such as the Castle, the Parliament, the "Basilika" (Basilica). You can buy a ticket for the hop on hop off bus, which goes around the attractions all day long, and you can get on and off anytime. Or if you feel adventurous, buy a book of tickets and use regular public transportation with Google maps. A lot of the Danube bank is totally walkable. A lot of the people other than the old folks speak at least intermediate English, and there are many guided tours available. I was there on the same day (August 20, 2019). The fireworks is really good from the Gellert hill, or on one of the bridges, but you must be there 2-3 hours in advance, or even 4 if you want to set up a tripod at the best spot. Not 30 minutes. It's not too hard to walk up to the Gellert hill on foot, instead of taking the bus or a taxi the long way around. The roads are closed during and after the fireworks, so you either take the subway or walk 45 minutes.
August 20 is the anniversary of the founding of the State. 1022 years ago, the first King St. Stephen united the ancient Hungarian tribes, most of which were Hun. And in 1001 the Hungarian state was formed, we adopted the Christian faith instead of pagan gods.

We'll have to come back to watch the fireworks from the other side of the river :) We would always be happy to visit Budapest

*Tried to break away from Austria* We kinda got bum fricked when Austria called in the Russians.
@@lionhartjohn1000 To complete the sentence; Austria called in the Russians, for help, to gain upper hand to beat the Hungarian freedom fighters.
