Great interview! I'm digging these stands and sticks no matter the cost. I've had my lone wolf climber for almost 20yrs and it was/is the best investment in hunting gear I've ever spent. Its actually the only piece of hubting gear that has lasted any length of time. So I'll definitely be saving my $ for this set up!
@@DIYSportsman I was thinking the same! I hunt sometimes 3 miles from the truck and being able to get a deer out plus my gear in one shot would be awesome!
He mentioned about noise reduction from the rubber paint material, but when I heard his buckle from the back strap hit the stand it rang like a bell. Was that exaggerated from the camera microphone or did it sound that loud in person?
Wow this is a total game changer for sure! The packing abilities for this stand looks amazing. No longer dealing with camera equipment falling to one side or the other making it harder on your back. Can't wait to get my hands on one. Great informative video as always!

Interesting and good design, I'm sure. But my ORIGINAL lone wolf stand only weighs 8.5 lbs - I remember that "8.5 lb" caught my eye in the ad I saw in Bowhunter(?) That's just one pound more than this new one. And it cost me $75 or $85 back in ..whenever... With my system, it is super versatile from the ground and any level in a tree. So I'm sticking with that -- and the hand climber for now.
Yes it is pricey for sure, but with all you are getting and the weight savings you will get I think it is worth it. Will it make me kill more bucks then my lone wolf right now? Probably not. But it would definitely make things easier and would give you a slight edge for mobile hunting.
Of course they make this, after I get the original! great post. Keep yr videos coming learned a lot on how to shave weight off my current wolf system from you. As you get older it seems to get heavier.....
Guys complaining about the price you do realize you're only buying one setup that you could easily use for the next 10 years? Up front it's kinda expensive but every pound matters when it comes to getting in deep.
My Biggest issue with these guys is I’ve tried to order the XOP Vanish stand and sticks with the military style straps but they never had every thing in stock always unavailable so that turned me off
OK, did I miss the price? I'm sure neither are cheap. I have a stand that weighs less the 7.5lbs as well, sure it's not fully adjustable as it's older, but not sure why he makes a big deal about the 7.5lbs.
As much as I love this, that silent coating will fall off in cold conditions. They have the same coating on summit stands and that's one of the main issues in colder hunting conditions. I could see in a couple other videos that it was already starting to wear off. It's not a huge down fall but if you're buying it for the silent coating, you're going to be disappointed. I do love the stand overall, but the price is a little outrageous.

First, great video and THANK YOU. Did he ever answer your question about weight at 5:50? I don't think he did. He said "yeah, yeah, we'll have a blah blah version and a...." He never said "yes, 7.5 lbs is the weight under these exact parameters which are...XYZ (hopefully with all necessary components)". Is 7.5 lbs the weight as he held it there OR the weight with a seat pad and also the two tree straps (all 3 are pretty much required by anyone). If not, then the stand if probably close to 9 lbs ready to hunt. This makes it seem not so amazing compared to an Assault 2 which is 11 lbs with stand, straps, and seat. I would consider $500 if that stand is 7.5 lbs ready to hunt, but if it is closer to 10 lbs ready to hunt then I would not. If it were me, then I'd have a scale right there with a calibration weight and the stand would be ready to hunt and I'd invite people to hold the stand and then place it on the scale.
We weighed the display stand on a fish scale (non-certified) at 7lb 13oz without seat pad or strap. Once you add a strap and pad itll be a little over 8.
@@DIYSportsman The difference between the XOP Vanish with and without things you need (straps, etc) is 2 pounds per their website. My guess is with the 2 straps and seat (seems bracket was already installed) that this will go around 9 pounds.
I love Andrae & Cody but honestly I can carry 6lbs extra to use my old Lone Wolf sticks and assault stand, I’m hunting deer in NY & CT not backcountry ELk Hunting
Everyone in this comment chain: "buh buh buh mah 50.00 field and stream hang on!". Lone Wolf is the absolute definition of buy once cry once. This stand will outlive half the people buying it.
Normally, you get what you pay for with anything. I bought a Big Green Egg smoker, I'll never have to buy another grill/smoker. Cried once like you said. lol
Wow....now I need to save $500 for the stand. I wish I knew someone that owned a machine shop and they owed me money ..... In reality, I won't buy this but I will buy a LW Assault 2 and Silent Approach steps and then lighten all other elements of my pack. I was carrying 60 lbs in 1.5 miles each way this year. If I can get that down to 30 lbs then I won't even feel it at this point.
@@matthewstruven4838 Eh....never weighed it, so I might be exaggerating. But it was too heavy to carry next year. I had 4 hawk helium sticks, LW alpha tech hang on, safety equipment, 4 screw in steps, bow and various other item (rangefinder, saw, etc). It was heavy. With my stand with a 3rd hand bowholder and molleframe pack and 4 sticks and 4 screw ins, that's probably 30 lbs right there, pretty easy.
Designed the stick to be out further from the tree.....that is not a good thing IMO. On a straight tree its fine....on a crooked tree where you have to put side pressure with your foot it is less stable than if it were closer to the tree. It is going to want to twist.
Great engineering! One big miss though. Those wires holding the platform. Your feet will always hit those wires. If you can some how find another way of holding the platform without those annoying wires it would be a game changer.
Cables are the lightest, easiest way to counter all of that leverage from someone standing on that platform. If you look at the ambush or predator platform, they get away from the cables but need to be beefed up considerably to handle the stresses near the post. So on a stand the platform might need to be 4 inches thick or something crazy like that to prevent breaking.
Personally I dont mind the cables. They help me know where my feet are near the edge of the platform without having to look down. You can wrap stealth strips around them to prevent any squeaking noise on the boots as well.
Yea I think it confused a lot of people. My guess is that they didn't want to compromise on the name given that it was the brand name Andrae brought to life back from the beginning.
Just like yeti coolers when thay came out or kuiu or any other so called premium anything , as long as there are guys that have deep pockets that will run out and buy the next supposed best then thay will continue to rip the ones off who cant. There was a article in a bow hunter magazine about ten years ago that stated that within that ten year period that we would lose our hunting rights because of new laws passed by politicians gun laws animals rights actavists laws ect. Well that hasn't come to be true yet, but it's not what is causing the decline in hunter turn out its these outdoor product mfg that are causing this decline with the cost of all things outdoors. 900 for a stand 600 for one came coat 1500 for a new bow or rifle 50thousand for a new truck 20 grand for a new side by side 75 grand for a new boat. The average Joe can no longer afford to show up, and we've done it to our selfs .
Do you really think people are saying “that high end stand is way too expensive.. I’m going to quit hunting”? That seems a little silly to me. Stuff is definitely expensive on the top end because innovation is expensive, but lower end stands that are plenty fine for the vast majority of hunters are cheaper than ever. Safe and quality stands cost 40-60 dollars at pretty much any sporting goods store today. People who want to hunt will find a way to get out whether they can afford a $1,000 mobile stand setup or not.
