  • Many don't know it, but Brad Kuhnert pioneered the saddle platform as we know it today. It was originally released as the Lone Wolf Assassin, but now it's been updated and being re-released later this year. This version remains the same size but has gotten lighter and added certain performance improvements. The harness will also be upgraded.

    I was shocked when the price was announced. The $279 price for this platform seems inflated to me. Their full size stands: Alpha Hang On II is $260 & the Assault II is $250 on Lone Wolf web site. Comparatively speaking it seems like the price should be less than their full size hang on stands because only a smaller platform is for sale. Maybe I could understand the pricing if it were a new, startup company trying to recoup their overhead costs to stay alive. I'm tired of seeing the prices for archery gear increase each year. It just seems like the industry is taking us for granted.

      Lone Wolf and Lone Wolf Custom gear, there is no affiliation whatsoever. As a matter of fact, I believe that both parties hate each other.

      You can think the guys with deep pockets that have to have the next best anything for hunting for this , as long as thay jump on the wagon you can expect this trend to just escalate until guys like myself can't go the ride. It's there now , I've just about quit hunting actually haven't hunted in the last three years.

    My only question is can u turn around completely in the belt?

  • @DavidGonzalez-ek3zh

    Nice, but bring the price down. Your belt will most likely be an adapted rock climbing harness which is WAY safer and spot on, esp with lineman capabilities. Watch your price point!😀

    There would be no way I could do an all day sit without the option of sitting. My feet would get sore really quick.

    Garrett, what do you think of the platform, first impressions?

    • @DIYSportsman

      I was mostly a fan of the original Assassin back in the day, and this one has improved on that one. The biggest difference between this platform and others like Tethrd is 1) bigger platform which is heavier but also a little easier to pivot in big boots and 2) designed to be more of a standing/leaning system vs a leaning/sitting system. Some people will naturally gravitate towards a system like this while others will naturally gravitate towards other saddle hunting systems where the bridge is set higher with a smaller platform.

      @@DIYSportsman I think I may be in the higher bridge-style saddle (I have a Tethrd) but also having a larger base like this new platform. I have not really had much of an issue with the higher bridge so far.

    • @DIYSportsman
      @DIYSportsman  5 років тому

      @@SundawgMillionaire Yea I think a higher bridge is going to be overall more comfortable. The advantages of a lower tether are that it'll be easier to cross the bow overtop of the bridge for a weak side shot, and you can run a camera arm overtop instead of underneath. Leg fatigue will likely start to set in earlier, so there are pro's and con's. My guess is that there will be guys running Tethrd saddles with this platform, and maybe guys who'll like the lower bridge of this harness with a Predator platform. So much of it will come down to personal preference.

      @@DIYSportsman That's exactly what I'm thinking. Tethrd saddle + Ambush platform. Thanks for your insight as always! I really appreciate that you went to ATA and actually showed some of the products that were not just the new bows. I know a lot of people were interested in LWCG's booth, but you got around and got some great content. Thanks.

      I build DIY platforms. I have right now 5 completed platforms which I will pre place this spring. I leave them setup and in place with only two steps and the platform. When I hunt I bring three steps (muddy Pro) and pick a setup . I don`t expect anyone to steal partial setups . That being said all my stuff I leave setup in the tree cost short money because I make them. Very nice setup here but not for me and the way I hunt .

      They're behind the curve on the market if they're still asking for design inputs. Aero and Tethrd are now the industry standard.
