This song specifically is a letter to the drummer's brother, who died in 2016 and was the founding guitarist. The video and song contain a lot of symbolism, and the light in the sky is intended to be him I believe, or his soul per se.
Tom actually started writing this song but ya know he couldn't finish it. Dan finished it, and obviously changed lyrics up and made it for him. It's sorta sad in a way
Please listen to "Gone with the Wind" from "All Our Gods Have Abandoned Us". Beautifully poignant. Written by the lead guitarist/song writer, Tom Searle (like most other tracks), who had terminal cancer and sadly passed away not long after. A lyrical and musical masterpiece. Heart wrenching stuff. RIP Tom Searle.
Since you seem to like orchestral arrangements, Architects have just released a live version of their song “Animals” recorded live at Abbey Road studios with a orchestra. It’s something that gave me chills. I think you will really enjoy it. I believe it’s only available in UA-cam right now.
This song is written by the drummer, Dan Searle, for his brother Tom, who died of cancer end 2016. His song Gone With The Wind on their album All Our Gods Have Abandoned Us is written by him. A musical and lyrical masterpiece
This was the first song they released after the main song writer/guitarist Tom Searle died from cancer. The guy meditating is his twin brother Dan who is also the drummer in the band. Memento Mori would be a great song for you to dissect, it's the last song on the final album written by Tom who was very much aware of his own mortality and the inevitability of death. The meaning of the song (and album) has really altered after Tom’s death since none of his fans knew his cancer returned until after he died. Please check it out!!!
the vocalist, Sam Carter, i think has the BEST RANGE of vocals. Powerful screams, beautiful melodic singing, everything he does and delivery is POWERFUL #AWWWRIGHT!
Oh man, they just released a song played live with an orchestra and it's phenomenal, you HAVE to listen to it. Architects - "Animals" (Orchestral Version) - Live at Abbey Road
I dont like the newest stuff it got a little too whiney for me lol. But everything up to this album is fire. Weird how a band went from deathcore to metalcore.
Engineering side: this was mixed and mastered by the duo that does it for Periphery and a lot of other bands with top notch sound: Nolly Getgood (Periphery's former bassist) and Ermin Hamidovic
Every time I hear this song I just can’t imagine how tough it was to be Dan losing his twin brother. RIP Tom Searle I know you’re smiling down on your Architects brothers reaching new musical heights 🖤
Been requesting ERRA for a bit now too so I'm just here to push the rec. Since the self titled is so recent I feel like he should do anything off it so he can get a great representation of what modern metalcore is, since that's what ERRA is lol

If you liked this, you should definitely check out the band Erra. They also have that incredible production, crazy riffage. Their new album has a bunch of bangers. Gungrave is solid.
You mention how the singer has a great emotional range in this song.. you're completely right. And I bet this one came easier to him than most when you learn about the lyrics. I find this song heart breaking.
Interesting thing about the video, it takes a lot of visual cues from a movie called The Fountain which is all about accepting the inevitability of death and making your peace with the loss of loved ones; hits hard with the song having been written about the loss of their bandmate Tom Searle.
GEEBZ so so glad that you’ve discovered my favourite band in the world. These lads have been through a lot as their guitarist and main songwriter (as well as the drummers twin brother) passed away. You should check out the danish band VOLA , a really cool progressive metal blend between Meshuggah and Depeche Mode , they are fantastic 😍
#aaaawwwright lol great video man time to check out this band
Aloha! Loved this one. Sam is one of my favorite metal vocalists from a tonal point. There's so much energy and emotion in their stuff. As I've seen others mentioned, They did a studio version of Animals recently and it's killer. Might be able to hop on that algorithm train too. #awwwright!
Thank you for that. R.I.P. Tom Searle.
You did Architects!!!! YEESSSSS! I knew you'd like it! Try Dead Butterflies if you want to hear more.
Huge shout out to Nolly on the production too ! His work is always incredibly well done !!
I didn’t know Nolly did this. That’s awesome.
@@JonnyRottenn__ yeah man ! Absolutely solid work with Nolly on this record. easily one of my favourite producers
#AWWWRIGHT! Great to see you do Architects! Here's another vote for the orchestral version of Animals.
he almost seemed scared of it until he started talking about it!!
You gotta watch the choir noir version of this! Then this and the choir noir version on top of each other in the same track! EPIC
#AWWRIGHT. Yeah great reaction man. My vote for your next Architects track is “Gone with the Wind”. I’ve seen other comments talking more about the song and the band but it’s their pinnacle track.
Architects are incredible. Animals (orchestral version) is a masterpiece
Hey man! Congrats once again!! Hit you up on IG the other day to give you my sincerest and best wishes! Sooo much love for your work and patience ❤️
Do Klone - Yonder pleeeeaaase ahahah
