This song specifically is a letter to the drummer's brother, who died in 2016 and was the founding guitarist. The video and song contain a lot of symbolism, and the light in the sky is intended to be him I believe, or his soul per se.

Please listen to "Gone with the Wind" from "All Our Gods Have Abandoned Us". Beautifully poignant. Written by the lead guitarist/song writer, Tom Searle (like most other tracks), who had terminal cancer and sadly passed away not long after. A lyrical and musical masterpiece. Heart wrenching stuff. This was the first song they released after the main song writer/guitarist Tom Searle died from cancer. The guy meditating is his twin brother Dan who is also the drummer in the band.
Memento Mori would be a great song for you to dissect, it's the last song on the final album written by Tom who was very much aware of his own mortality and the inevitability of death. A little bit about the VOCALS: Sam Carter is a legendary vocalist. His clean singing is beautiful, but he's definitely known for his screams. In my opinion he has perfected the "fry scream" technique, and does an expert job of mixing that same "fry" sound (compression based-grit) with his true cord phonation (singing). On top of this the production is amazing and the vocal layering of screams/singing is wonderfully done. I've seen Architects multiple times and Sam's near flawless performance always amazes me. One of the best live bands 🤘 Awesome reaction Geebz can't wait for more!

I love good lyrics, but the overall of sound of a song is what draws me in at first. Then I'll start paying attention to the different bits, and I go through several phases of loving the same song for different aspects of it. First, I just love the song. Later, I'll love it for the drum work, then it's the intricate guitar bits that keep me coming back, then the vocals, the bass, the lyrics. Hell, it might be something very simple, like a bass slide, or a particular scream, that has me loving it.

Fun fact about this band... they don't use pads in this song and in this album. It's actually a guitar. They use a crunchy tone and mix it with a plug-in called Valhalla Shimmer and turn that baby up to 100 and boom... that pad sound... but with a guitar. That pattern that you heard is the guitarist tremolo picking the note. That creates that huge sound. It's truly beautiful and they use the same plug-ing in their clean guitars as well. Doomsday was a song that their old guitarist (and also the twin of their drummer), started but never got to finish. Tom Searle was their main composer and lyricist, so their sound changed a bit. They are my favorite metalcore band, so I would love to see Gone With The Wind or A Match Made in Heaven, any song of the Holy Hell album, which is imo the best modern Metalcore album, Broken Cross, and stuff from their new For Those That Wish To Exist album. I would also recommend Bury Tomorrow's Cannibal album, Cannibal and Dark Infinite especially, Killswitch Engage and As I Lay Dying. #Alright

I wrote a comment 30 seconds in. And now I want to express my awe in your musical explanation and sheer brilliance. I supported Architects back in the day in Manchester and they were so cool. I love you have given them your attention. Have a great weekend my friend

Man oh boy i smiled when i watched this! My all time favorite band. You almost made me cry breaking this down. Thank you! Best channel on youtube by far.
I got another Architects for you that would be lovely for me to watch you listen to (hehe) wich is 'Dead Man Talking' on from the Lost forever, Lost together album. It is one of their finest believe me. You could choose any song and i would be happy. This is juat a recommendation. Have a great week!

Check out Memento Mori. This was written by their guitarist with terminal cancer about facing death. It’s long but gives me goosebumps every time. A Match Made in Heaven is also really good. You can’t go wrong with another from All Our Gods Have Abandoned Us, songs like Gravity and Gone With the Wind are good but Momento Mori is amazing.

Another fun story about this song is that when they released this song back in 2017, they said it was a standalone single and wouldn't be on the next album, Holy Hell. When I bought the album, because it's amazing, I was going to sleep. Now, they didn't put a tracklist on the back of the CD, so when I heard this song on there, I was sat right up in bed with joy :)

interesting fact geebz: they use a weird unique tuning also called the architects tuning that goes like F# F# B E G# C# with the lowest string super low to keep the groove and djenty feel even on a 6 strings guitar

Love this breakdown! Their new album has a lot more experimentation while also keeping their root sound intact. BTW, please react to the new LANDMVRKS, specifically their song Lost In The Waves!

Interesting thing about the video, it takes a lot of visual cues from a movie called The Fountain which is all about accepting the inevitability of death and making your peace with the loss of loved ones; hits hard with the song having been written about the loss of their bandmate Tom Searle.

Regarding the pad sounds in Architects' music: Most of them guitars! Using a Strymon Big Sky (or Blue Sky) reverb pedal through a Vox AC30. Layered with synth pads too though.

After asking for Architects for weeks, I’m sooo glad you enjoyed it as much as you did.
You’ve got to check out some of the new album that came out last month as it’s moved on even more since this song!
Maybe try ‘Goliath’ (which has Biffy Clyro’s singer - if you know them - on it), or ‘Libertine’. #Alriggghhhtttt
