Silat or pencak silat is umbrella term for martial arts system in indigenious people of south east asia (malay ethnicity on south east asia).

The roots of silat is from Javanese Kindom, and the silat name is only used during the second world war era.
That's why the old records and manuscript is mostly found in javanese old kingdom, and the name itself is Sundang not silat.
Based on the history, it's also writen on their old manuscript, it was not silat, such as from Majapahit old manuscript it was called Sundang.
Introduced by Mahisa Anabrang, an officer from the Singasari kingdom who took shelter under the banner of Majapahit after the murder of Kertanagara, the last king of Singasari, who combined the martial arts of bending/faulting techniques then combined with sharp weapons.
Sundang Majapahit has fighting techniques which are divided into several elements:
There is protection called Sundang Gunung.
Sundang Kali & Sundang Laut for attack & conquest.
Sundang Angin for a form of infiltration.
Sundang Matahari for the protection of the king & his family.
Sundang was originally a combination of the military martial arts of the Singasari and Dharmasraya kingdoms and then applied with the support of two sharp weapons in the form of a sword in the left hand called Sundang and a keris in the right hand called Taji. The concept is not to dodge but instead to infiltrate the opponent's defense area on their weakest side.
History records that this science is very cruel, because its attacks flow rapidly according to the elements of the universe that mark it. A Ranggalawe, who was known to be quite strong, had to be defeated with his body torn apart in a fight in the middle of the river against Mahisa Anabrang. The cruelty of this science is that it cannot be stopped before the opponent is conquered, it will flow like an unstoppable flood.
After the death of Mahisa Anabrang, this knowledge was inherited by Mahisa Teruna's son, known as Adityawarman, king of the Dharmasraya Kingdom. It was from these Dharmasraya soldiers that Sundang Majapahit expanded to the Riau Islands, Bugis, Wajo, the Malay Peninsula and even to Sulu (Philippines).
From various regions that have inherited it, there are character traits that indicate Sundang martial arts, namely the presence of wrist straps on the keris and sword (because the two weapons must be able to be rotated quickly between roles). The Dharmasraya Kingdom emphasized the art of breaking movements, the Bugis developed locks and stabs (pencak sarong), and the Sulu on reaction speed.
Sundang was also known as a martial art during the Majapahit kingdom era which was only studied by elite troops in the Majapahit kingdom military. Sundang combines fighting techniques where a soldier can use breaking techniques combined with several weapons, such as swords and keris in both hands as fighting tools. Sundang consists of several elements ranging from defense, attack, conquest, infiltration and protection.
One type of sundang that still remained today is the Kali Majapahit sundang.
people in the Philipines call it as Silat Kali Majapahit.
Sundang Majapahit is a martial art that has fighting techniques which are divided into several elements.
-The defense element is called Sundang Gunung.
-To attack and conquer, Sundang Kali and Sundang Laut are used.
-There is also the Sundang Angin technique used as a form of infiltration.
-Finally, the Sundang Matahari is used to protect the king and his family.

Where did you get all this information? Silat term already used by malay ethnicity in sumatra long before 2nd world war. But indonesian silat organisation WERE founded after WW II. They choose pencak silat term as the name that already known as martial arts system that live in the nusantara people for a long time.
Javanese have their own term for martial arts. Even my historian friends mention that martial art system that used by majapahit forces was not named Sundang. But it has other name.
Dont tell me that you get the informatiom from rumors that claim that kali/escrima was inherited from kali majapahit.
