@@jeetkunedoatlanta2464 If you actually research this "Stun Knife" is marketed as a self defense tool, NOT a training tool. So...what was it designed for?
@George Michael Jr No because the Chinese communist government in 20th century weakened Kung Fu, they were scared it could be used against them, so they discouraged sparring and encouraged "dancing" type things like Wu Shu. Bruce Lee was from Hong Kong so he escaped this influence. Other Chinese left China in the 20th century (former nationalists etc.) and went to Europe, US etc, and taught the "white man". This is where you can still find some good schools today. This is also why you see these old Chinese "masters" getting their ass kicked by Xu Xiaodong in China, cus they never sparred, whereas you look at Western practitioners (search Alan Orr or FightScience) and you see people who do real sparring and can fight.
I think the best Kungfu practitioners today are Australian and Eastern European. I have seen many Chow Gar,Choy Lay Fut practitioners from Australia. They are so athletic and in shape. When I look at China their martial Artist look like morons.

@Jose Stickman This drill is to let go of thoughts and respond instictively instead which is much faster and safer when synced. It's also a stress test to train you to keep calm under high pressure. Keeping calm is the key to maintain fast accurate tactical awarenes where fear, stress and emotions kills your awarenes. Flinch responses is fine and can often be helpful if synced with your arsenal. If not you freeze up that gives panic + tunnelvision and removes any rational skill you have undtil calm again if you survive the attack. This drill alone is not enough to master preventing unwilling mental escalation against any random attacks, but it can cover a big part of it.
