It's just quadscience as far as I know, but it's a lot smaller than snarescience when it comes to content. So after one goes through quadscience (I forgot to add, that the drumsciences haven't been posting in awhile.) you'll need to find another quad website, but it's still very informative and can keep you occupied for a long time.
Elliott, you should publish a book outlining technique and a learning sequence for bass line. All the resources you have made were badly needed and I think the marching community really needs more like this.
BASS DRUM GROUP wonderful! Please let me know through what medium/where the announcement will be made and I will be looking for it. Thank you for what you do on this channel/your website. You are appreciated.
I’m trying out for bass drum, and I have a basic understanding of rhythms, but I’ve never played bass drum. Using this to prepare and grind out before indoor!
I thought you were a literal god at marching bass drum but I remembered halfway through that I had set the video to x1.5 speed. still sounds very good!
Thanks for the video. I’m going to take this whole concept back for my bass drums. I have several first time bass players and am usually out of material to give them. This will be a fresh approach for them which will definitely help. Thanks again,,
In the demonstration of "Two's w/out Brents" at the slower tempo your stroke changes when you play the two's versus the eighth note check. It changes from wrist only during the eighth notes to involving your elbow/shoulder during the two's. Also, it looks like there's tension in your shoulder/were it meets your chest when you play those two's (can see it in the way your shoulder moves). I've seen this in plenty of marching bass drummers, and typically results in tennis elbow. Is there a reason for this change in technique or was it accidental?
This is great stuff! Just a heads up... The eighth note stickings you have written in are incorrect on measure 5 of the 3's section, and you have eighth notes alternating instead of all on one hand in the 4's. I only say they're wrong because the video example makes more sense than what you have written down. This might be confusing for someone who is playing along with the music you displayed.
Elliott Duran Hey Elliott, I wanted to point out the same thing on the isolation primer for 4's. Otherwise, I appreciate all of the content and resources you've been putting out there for the bass drum community. These videos have been incredibly useful to me, both as a performer and as an educator. Keep it up! Looking forward to your next topic!
Conceptually, the explanation about the rhythm precision here during the first three minutes - is the very best i've ever seen.I'm just used to measure it relative to a quarter note, not an 1/8 And the terms in the very beginning are kinda off key, traditionally speaking. But, you get used to those quite fast. Bottom line: if you keep practicing with the precision principle as described here - your ear will become way more of a precision tool than a metronome is.
I wish all these super helpful channels were around when I was in high school 🙁 why did youtube have to be in that weird grey area where it wasn't new anymore and still extremely popular but not as massive as it is now 😂
When you played 2's w/o Brents the second time, you rushed the last line pretty badly. But you are still a god a bass. I'm 15 and I'm a freshman in my drum line and I'm already the best one out of all the seniors and juniors just because i practice these types of exercises. Keep up the good work.

wish there was a snare channel like this
Snarescience is really good. A little dated, and the format is completely different, but the youtube channel and the website are of legend.
Matt Toole oh cool, thanks. Is there a tenor one too?

Maybe I should make a snare drum group hmmmmm.
In general the marching community needs more updated resources on approach and fundamentals for all sections.

I think you're gonna dig an announcement I'm making later this week ;)

Thank you for what you do on this channel/your website. You are appreciated.
It makes me happy that this channel exists, but only came to be right after my marching career ended :(
Haha, unfortunately I also had to complete my career to gather all this information. Thanks for watching, though!

Dylan Stewart You're absolutely right. I forgot to catch the changes I made while filming! I'll make sure to clarify this.

Awesome Stuff!
I got put on bass drum even though I am not a very good counter n I just wanted to be on pit wtf
Amazing video, could you make another video like this but about splitting hand-to-hands or Heretas?
At the end the 4s at 170 practically sounds like rolls on that drum.
I can play anything!
in my head
Can someone please make a channel like this but for the snares? :D
Why am I having such a hard time understanding
Lily Cooper me too. I’m having a real hard time, but I need to learn this to be able to audition for my bass line.
Paige C same my rookie days are coming up but I’m having trouble knowing the tempos, I have to try out for bass and cymbals
I am doing a part at 160 bpm and in 6/8 there are 5 bassist and we split fours this goes really fast how should we do this better or easier
Se você fizesse uma tradução para português ia ficar top
I’m gonna play bass drum for the first time, how am I supposed to play this? 😂😂
It’s the big one with one Mallet 😂
Watching as a marimba player... lol

What years did he march pulse, and what bass was it?
Noah Chisom I played top this past 2017 season
Oh! That's really cool, I loved the show, especially the bass feature right after the dance section
Background music?
Please don't go back to marching prints. The community needs you.
Definitely planning on sticking to this for a while. Already working on the next vid!
Don't mind me just making a time stamp for myself 4:32

I encourage you to keep working hard toward your second marching season going into sophomore year, and also open up your ears a bit.
