I watched this LIVE with my dad , brother and uncle, as a kid.
This was BOXING. Still in the Golden era. Tyson was still an active and scary heavyweight. Nobody was ducking each other.! All the big fights were made..!!
My family was rooting for Trinidad all the way. in his Vargas bout and Oscar de la Hoya, and Mayorga fight. Glad I was around for this. Thanks, pop 🙏

Definitely an historic run. He was one of my favorite fighters ever. He went from Vargas, straight to Joppy, right to Hopkins. Like no chill with some lesser fighter in between. That will never be done by the fighters of today.

Tito was a beast, he was lanky and had power but boxed well too, one of the all time greats for sure. I was fortunate enough to watch all of his fights growing up. My first boxing match my pops took me to was the Tito v Mamadou fight, I was around 9-10 yrs old, it was me, my dad, and my great grandfather. It felt like we were back in PR, it was like the island came out to see Tito fight, I’ve never felt/seen support like that in any other sport that I’ve been too. Tito went out and dominated Mamadou that night, KO’d him in the third, just walked through him, an elite fighter in his prime on full display. I’ll never forget that night, the atmosphere, the crowd, the fight it is something cemented into my mind forever. That ended up being the year before my great grandfather passed and looking back I’m greatf my dad took both of us to go see that fight and share that experience together, it’s something that I’ll never forget

He developed that one particular punch... a high hook that he really slung out there. He didn't even throw it arched like a hook, but it was like swinging a steel rod in the air, or like a flail, and if the opponent didn't see it, it was a devastating blow that might just end the fight there... or the guy would be so hurt by it that he couldn't recover.

yeah, he's deceptively fast and doesn't constantly do the same movements making it a nightmare for his opponents. Tito will will stand there half a second to a second then bob left then right... side step... then step into his opponent the whole time feinting jabs measuring distance and his opponent's reaction. On top of that he slips most of the punches and gets a few counter shots every round, turning defense into offense. And then he peppers those body shots as well... all of these factors in a smart fighter makes a perfect fighter.

People always talked about Tito’s left hook, but his true killer was that straight right over his opponent’s jab. Death blow as you see at 11:27. Joppy was trying to compose himself from that moment on. He was dazed and twitching his neck side to side. Wasn’t long after that he was dropped by the left.

The hate that this man gets its beyond believable ! Lol Tito was the man at his era period ! He always came to fight ! This hand wraps talks gets mad old ! People assuming shit without knowing , never used plaster ! For the hopkins fight it was extra gauze not damn plaster ... he lost cause that weight class wasn’t a smart decision , he lost against people who where light heavyweight at some point in theirs careers 🤦🏻‍♂️ ... and don’t tell me shit about delahoya fight cause that was oscar’s fault !
